I have played this course several times. Please, new viewers, these past reviews are fairly old. All of the fairways are about a 9 out of 10. I have never had any issues with mud,rocks, or anything of that nature, especially on the tee boxes. As far as the greens, the front 9 are still coming in, meaning, there are some small divots where the grass is still growing in; the back 9 are great. I have a great experience every time that I have been there. (10 times in the past month). The cost of 18 holes is around $30 including the cart fee. The driving range is free with the additional cost of $5 for 43 balls. My all in all experience that I have had, with course and staff, was about an 8 out of 10. If you are wanting to try and impress your friends, playing at Oak Mountain in Carrollton is a nicer course with higher rates. If you are a novice and wanting to play a round with some friends, West Pines is definitely a great course. I am actually thinking of checking on the membership since I live so close and love to play.

Do not be fooled by the advertising of this course or their website. They claim to be dumping a ton of money into it, but I played this course on 8/12/12 and didnt see where the money is going. I only noticed one small area with fairly new sod (about 1 pallet worth). The rest of the course is absolutely horrible, the tee boxes are pure weeds and clay, the fairways were thick (ball not rolling), the greens were full of weeds, and the amount of bare clay spots all over the course was plain ugly to look at. The golf cart wouldnt hardly move at crawl speed which didnt matter anyway because it took around 5 hours to complete my round due to the overbooked course. I wouldnt be complaining if they chraged $20 max, but $30+ is a flat out rip off. One final thing I should mention is the staff isnt very freindly or accomodating.

Ive been to West Pines several times. Overall my experience has been good. I wouldnt say its been great. Theyve struggled during times when its very busy. For example, on a holiday weekend obviously very busy every water container we came to was completely empty. Also the pace of play was 20-30 minutes per hole. Id say beware of busy weekends or times where you know its going to be busy. But during other times its been great. I go with my dad sometimes during the week and pace of play is good and our experience is good as well. Not a TPC quality course obviously but Ive certainly played much worse courses. I think 4 stars is fair.

This course is normally a great deal for Atlanta golf. I just played there last week and the greens are burnt so badly there is hardly any grass left on them. Out of 18 greens I can only remember 2 being in good shape. Call the pro shop first and ask about the greens before you go. If you just show up and pay your money they will not say anything about the greens and you will have already teed off by the time you notice the first one. They also are not offering any discount because of the shape of the greens, so dont expect to get a deal, or get your money back once you get there. Call first and ask!

I have played this course many times over the past couple of years and it seems like it has gone downhill big time ever since. The overall quality of the course is average, but it is the course rangers that make the experience so unpleasant. Even when the course isnt crowded it always seems like there on a mission to pair you up with random people. I simply asked the ranger why he needed to pair us up when the course wasnt crowded and he said in a very unpleasant voice, "Because I said so" and gave me a look of death. I will never play this course again after that incident.

I have played this in the past (2 years ago) and it was a decent municipal course. The wife and I played there today and were shocked at the condition of the course, fairways were red clay and dirt for the most part, tee boxes were dirt and rocks, and the pace was 5 hours for 18 holes! The greens in lower elevations were horrible. The only rangers I seen were busy looking for lost balls. $89.00 was an absolute rip off!!! $20.00 would have been more appropriate, the carts do cost money, mine barely made it to the club house.

Another challenging course as well. Very good price for such a good course. Have great food on the weekends. Remember to purchase beverages before going out on the course. Easy drive to get there. Friendly atmosphere all around. Good place to meet others playing as well.

Best value under $40 on the weekends in the city. They keep in the greens in excellent shape and one of the big advantages to playing West Pines. A good layout with a variety of different holes and user-friendly for the average golfer

Really fun golf course that can be difficult if you make bad shots but its fair. Can be played cautiously or going for it. Good greens and fairways. Typically thick rough that can be tough to get through.

Ive played this course several times a year for the past 2-3 years. Best value on the west side of Atlanta. Easy access as it is right off 20. It really cant be beat for the price.
