This long-neglected park and recreation center COULD be a real jewel in the DeKalb County Park system. I rate it a 2* for what it is now, but with attention this park could easily be a 5* and anchor to a re-developed Briarwood Road as it heads toward North Druid Hills in Brookhaven. The center has all you need: plenty of green space, a creek and walking paths, open field for pick-up sports, tennis courts, a really nice outside pool (if you can look past the chain-link fence and prison-style barbed wire at the top (ever heard of landscaping to hide this?), a really large indoor basketball court/gymnasium and some open meeting rooms/summer camp facilities. Further, there are plenty of neighborhoods that surround the park and this could be a nice "safe" place for children to go and play. Instead, the county and its representatives "talk" a good game about wanting to improve the park, occassionally even showing up there for community meetings. But, where the rubber meets the road: an actual commitment to fund improvements, the representatives scatter like cockroaches in the kitchent at night. It seems DeKalb county would rather focus its park budget on other facilities in more affluent parts of Brookhaven and in other parts of the county. Despite periodic interest from the some of the neighborhoods, this center remains largely hidden behind the kudzu-covered trees that ring the grounds on Briarwood Rd and Briarwood Way.

Wonderful asset to the community. Attentive staff. Always meet interesting and great people. I typically do the open basketball. Well worth the $2 to play in a good gym.

Has a i door basketball court, outdoor swimming pool, a few tennis courts, and s playground. Nice area with slopes to jog or run.

This had a great play area for kids and the atmosphere was very kid friendly.
