Southern has well earned its status as a pillar of the local Seminole Heights community. Serving not only as a beer and wine maker’s supply shop, and brewery, the grounds serve as a neighborhood gathering spot – playing host to events, chief most being the Seminole Heights Market during the summer months. It has a welcoming atmosphere and the employees (whether slinging beer or helping you make your own) are always happy to assist. The establishment is both dog and kid friendly, and they play host to a local food truck several times a week. It’s comfortable – the kind of place that the locals depend on to unwind without having to deal with the bustle of some of the more trendy joints in the area. The drink – while not as celebrated or well known as other served in the area – is quite good, and there taps rotate quickly, offering regulars something new with almost ever visit. There are, of course, standards as well. Inglorious Hefeweizen is mild and sweet (great for the Florida summers), and Raised Bungalow (flavored as requested with raspberry, peanut butter, or any other variety of elixirs) is a local favorite with no real comparison to other breweries’ offerings. If you can’t tell, I heartily recommend anyone to check it out. The atmosphere is humble, yet warm. You won’t find any unnecessary trappings on the walls, or uncomfortable furniture. It’s a local joint that I’m more than happy lives just down the road.

My softball team and I went there last Friday and they had 11 beers not available so you had to chose from 7 beers to drink from. I could maybe understand this on a Wednesday but not Friday night. Thats poor planning. Plus it cost $32 for 5 beers. They have a huge section for home brewing supplies but it takes up almost the whole inside of the place. Also there is a ton of kids there and a play ground at a brewery. I go to a brewery to get away from kids, I dont think kids should be allowed at a place that only serves alcohol and no food other than the food truck. The 15 of us will not be coming back. Thank you

A great all around neighborhood gathering place. The outside area is decorated beautifully with benches, a fire pit, and water features. It is also pet friendly. On select nights you will find a food trucks to serve some great food. Inside you will find everything that you would ever need to create your own beer. Hops, barley, and yeast, oh my! Youll also find an attentive staff to help you along the way. Plus youll have your choice of house made beer and a few rotating local taps. All in all, youll never have a bad time at Southern Brewing.

As a novice brewer, I appreciate the tremendous amount of help I receive from the staff of Southern Brewing & Winemaking. They are always available to answer my questions and address my brewing concerns. My first time there they were so helpful to walk me through the self-service protocol. The staff is always willing to help convert my grain recipes to extract plus they also have a huge binder of recipes to choose from. It may be a bit of a drive, but my quest is always worthwhile. Give it a try ~ you cant go wrong! Cheers!

Excellent selection of ingredients and supplies plus a friendly and knowledgeable staff; however, it is true that they cannot read minds. I recommend that you do a little reserch prior to going in to get your recipe. It will save you time and worry. Sometimes, usually most of the time, they are busy and it may take a while to flag someone down for help. Hey, its a small family owned business. Plus its always a bonus when you can shop for your brew while holding a freshly poured brew.

Excellent little neighborhood brewery pub. Excellent tap beer selections. Cozy inside and Fabulous outside seating. Barmaid very knowledgeable about beer and wine. I was fearful of others reviews about children running around, but there were none. I drink beer to get away from children! We went on First Draft night for the local writers readings. We wont do that again! It was pretty bad. Think the worst karaoke but only literary reading, and I use the term literary quite loosely.

Nice craft brew served up here. Very good selection covering many taste palates that will have all pleased and returning for more. The space is open and large so you will not feel crammed in at all. The bar top is big enough to accommodate a decent crowd and there are several table top seating around as well. They have a large outdoor seating area that has a decent amount covered so you will not be scorched by the sun. Service was just average, nothing to brag about.

Southern Brewing hosts the summer Seminole Heights Farmers Market and is truely engaged in the neighborhood. It is a kid and pouch friendly environment with a large outdoor garden. They are very helpful and answered all my questions for carbonating Kombucha Tea. It is a supply store for all kinds of brewing. They often have food trucks or other vendors from the Farmers market most any day of the week just because.

Home brew selection is second to none. Tap selection and variety is always great. Pricing is comparable to major online vendors. But where they take the cake is service. These guys will help with any questions and walk you through anything you need help with. Thats just something you will never get with online vendors. Im always looking for a reason to go back. Oh and that Raised Bungalow Berliner Weisse, Mmmmm.

One of my favorite places to visit. Arik & Charlie are great wealths of brewing knowledge & can help you find what you need. Not only is it a great place to purchase ingredients for your next home brew, they breq on site and and always have something worth trying. From kombucha to root beer and sangria to beers of several styles, I dont get bored. I really like their nod to Whovians with their Sigma Ood Bruin.

We werent sure what to expect when we came but we were so happy that we stopped. Plenty of parking, dogs welcomed the outside was beautiful, plenty of room to sit and enjoy the open space. The tap room seemed a bit busy but the supplies were cool to rummage through and check out. Great places to relax, lots of families where there the day we came and that says a lot about a bar. Over all would come again!

Update: Still a great place; still 5 stars. You can go and stock up on homebrew supplies, and have a beer at the bar. Theres a food truck of one kind or another if youre hungry. The main reason I go is the homebrew supplies, and its still the best stocked place Ive ever seen. Previous review, 5 years ago: The biggest selection of grain Ive ever seen in a homebrew shop. Ive been brewing for 20 years.

Great place to hang out! Truly a diamond in the rough. They brew all their own beer which are all very good. my favorite is the sour beer only thing about it is it takes longer to brew so they dont always have it but thats what makes it so special xoxo love this place and they always have a food truck outside with great food so you can eat while you drink. love you guys

I love this place, best place locally to get mead, wine, and beer supplies. Customer service is great, staff is really informative. They just redid the bar area and it looks so nice! Its tucked away off the interstate but its a nice place to hang out, have some brews and meet nice people. Cant recommend more. Support your local microbrewery!!!
