House of Fin is one of the best fish stores around. Awesome staff and great quality fish. The staff does not force you to buy anything and has good information on most of the fish there. It is VERY overpriced but you arent only buying the fish you are buying the 7 day warrenty to on the fish. When my fish die which is not a lot, they die in the first 7 days. With House of Fins warranty they refund you ALL of your money spent on that fish. So you are buying the fish and fish insurance in that sort of way. The reason why I gave this 3 stars is because I bought API stress coat + from them for 20 dollars that is 16 oz. that same bottle sells for 5.99 at most other pet stores. NEVER buy any medicine or equipment from them. But I have to say this is the only place that I will buy my fish because they have AMAZING quality. I have been going for 5 years and all my fish look amazing. I have 2 very colorful Bolivian Rams, 3 Pearl Gouramis, a Candy Cane Tetra, and a pleco that I bought from them that is 5 years old, first fish bought from them! DO 1. Buy fish from them 2. Buy fish food from them DONT 1. Buy equipment from them 2. Dont buy medicine from them 3. Dont buy fish in bulk from them

I have been a customer of the House of Fins for over 20 years. I say emphatically that my HoF experience has been 5-Star year-in-year-out. The staff is knowledgable, courteous, and many-yeared tenured. Joe has been offering me excellent service for 20+ years. Remrkable...really. The only time the service has been maybe slower than usual is because the staff is dealing with each customers questions...and they dont rush their customers just to make a sale. Quality-Commitment to customer service. The selection of aquatic life is truly of highest quality. At times animals die, the the HoFs staff never contests the issue. Their guarantee is gold. The HoF store just feels great to walk into. It is clean, great energy, and alive with aquatic wildlife. Being a HoF customer has been a pleasure all these years. Heres to many more years of great aquatic experience. Cheers-Scott D.

Was recommended by a member of staff there to purchase "Microbe-Lift Special Blend", to help remedy my cloudy aquarium. Parted with a total of $37 for the 16 oz. size of this product. I wrongly assumed that this was a "specialist product" and the price was abouit right. How wrong I was ... I decided to check on this once home and was horrified to see that I could purchase the same product for a mere $12.00 with shipping included. I would for sure expect to pay more in this kind of "mom and pop" establishment, but to pay $25 over the odds is beyond ridiculous! According to the Sales Receipt, if I wanted to return this item, I would only be eligible for a Store Credit. So once youve been sucked in by their exorbitant prices, theyve "got you" and you cant get out!

I have been a customer at House of Fins for several years now. This is my hobby, so I go to several stores to look, but I always buy my fish at House of Fins. The fish and corals are always healthy and the sales staff are very knowledgeable and happy to help. As other reviewers have said, they can be more expensive than other shops, but the quality and advice are well worth the premium! I do my own maintenance, but have used their service department while I am away or I dont have the time to do water changes or filter changes. My experience with the service department has been great as well. I cant say enough about House of Fins- my experience has been great and I cant wait to see what they have the next time I go in!

If you complain that this store is too expensive, then you should go to Petco and sift through all the dead and diseased creatures to find your new, cheap, dissatisfying, already-dying waste of money. This place is like the Nordstrom of fish stores. They will exchange anything (including dead fish with a believable reason), they are knowledge able across the board, and they, hopefully, convince cheap people (like you) to keep standard goldfish and leave the reefing to people who want to create bombiquitous (not even a real word, this place is that rad) eco-system without limits. Thank m you, House of Find, for not worrying about price, and not limiting our experience, as such.

They are pricey, but unlike most of the other local shops, I dont feel like theyre trying to rip me off. I pay for quality equipment there, but the service theyve given me (a hobbiest who isnt a "service customer") is amazing. And to be honest, their prices arent that much higher than the other area shops when they are, and usually theyre pretty competitive. They also have a fantastic store warranty that they proudly stand behind. After trying all the other stores around (because I kept hearing how other stores had better prices) Im back here. I may pay a bit more because they carry top of the line kit, but at least I know Im not paying a premium for crap.

I walked into the store and there were 3 people working in this tiny store. I looked at the fishtanks for over 10 minutes while waiting for someone to help me. I finally had to ask someone to help me. I have just moved and am in the process of redoing my tank and was looking for what I could do with the tank and what fish would go with my large aggressive fish. He told me he would be right back. I waited another 5 minutes and walked out. While I was walking out saw the man sitting behind the register doing nothing!!!!! They might have been more helpful if I was buying a over priced fish right then and there but I wasnt so he proceeded to ignore me.

They had me at free coffee!! Lol I was greeted immediately by a couple of workers when I walked in and the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful! Im looking to set up a saltwater aquarium and was helped by an employee named Damien. He gave me several recommendations and ideas for my tank and seemed to know everything about saltwater fish/corals. Damien was able to give me much more help and knowledgeable information than the staff at PetSmart could! The coral and fish collection in this shop seemed to be very healthy and I will definitely be returning to pick out some cool/unique things!

I think the store is nice and very fun to browse. But the prices far too much higher than any other store or website ANYWHERE making it not fun to enjoy hobby in this store. I understand the store is in Greenwich, one of the richest towns in CT. But not all customers are priveledged people from the local area. Many people do hear about this location from nearby towns and states and should not have to pay 90 percent over wholesale cost. Its just ripping customers off that can be loyal if only treated honestly. This store has a lot of potential and its a shame they operate the way they do.

They seem to have a great selection of saltwater fish but I came there for the freshwater fish and those are seriously overpriced. I drove to petco afterwards and got the same fish for 20% of what this shop was asking. I dont mind supporting small business owners but there is a limit somewhere. On top of that they only have a very small selection of freshwater fish and plants. Plant tank looked neglected. I went there to get a customized tank but considering the overpricing for the fish and plants and the poor selection I decided to go elsewhere.
