While you might initially be off-put at the coke bottles, broken glass, and phallic-themed graffiti , keep going on the trail and youll be rewarded by wild terrain and beautiful outlooks. You can take a variety of trails, ranging from more tame, wider roads to more narrow, rocky scrambles up cliffs; all winding through the forest. We saw a lot of interesting wildlife, including a four-foot-long eastern rat snake (don’t worry, he’s not venomous!) and some large birds of prey. Some of the trail heads seemed to have been ripped/vandalized, which is annoying, but the color-coded trail markers are pretty easy to spot and theres a good downloadable map to help. People also seemed to be taking advantage of nearby rock-climbing and cliff jumping off of Wassel Reservoir.

The address is wrong. Correct address is Wigwam rd. No parking lot, just park along side the street. We took blue/red trail up and the view is stunning, approx 30 min to the first vista. If you continue to the blue trail then loop back via the yellow trail it would take approx 2&1/2 hours.

Awesome hiking! My girlfriend and I hiked at this location last week and it was beautiful! We followed the blue trail, then the orange trail. The hike took us a total of 3 hours, words of advise plan this to be an all day event if you want to hike the whole blue trail!

Trails arent too clear; one we were on just stopped and we literally got lost in the woods for like an hour. Nice though, and when we went not a lot of people at all we maybe saw like five other people. Short trail with a nice view.

Trails were littered with trash and there was broken glass everywhere. DO NOT bring your dog!!! It made me sick seeing how disrespectful people are to their Earth.....you know we only have one?? TAKE OUT WHAT YOU TAKE IN, please.

Has a variety of hiking difficulties, from easy to very challenging. The vistas are worth the trek and the trails are clearly marked. We visit as frequently as we can. Also a great location for rock climbing.

Visit this preserve in all 4 seasons - strikingly beautiful and surprisingly challenging hike with views to the Hanging Hills, Short Mountain, Talcott, Hartford, and the Metacomet Ridge stretching north.

Great hike and perfect to get back to nature. Hikes can be pretty easy, except for some areas where youd walk over loose rocks. Should wear some well padding footwear.
