This has become a tired muni in need of a bigger maintenance budget. There are many reasons I wont be back. First, the pace of play was terrible! Several times there were four groups on the same hole. Since there were no marshalls, I phoned the pro shop. Someone drove out, eventually telling me its just a busy day. Next, there were no bathrooms on the course, just outhouses! Maybe OK for you, but not for me when vacationing with my wife. Third, right by the first tee was a sign reading, "No outside food or beverages". Thats OK, but when the cart came by, it had no food. The course tries to get by on location and history, and, although interesting, doesnt make up for its giant downside.

I usually walk a golf course, but this one needed the cart. It was hilly, and windy, and I was glad that there was no 90 degree rule in place. My tee shots rolled all over the dry, hard fairways, and the cart saved lots of time in the searches. Don’t be fooled by seemingly short par four distances. The elevations up and down on the back nine are very challenging, so don’t expect to score low. And the par three’s on the front nine are two of the most difficult I’ve encountered. I had to use a driver to reach the 205-yard, uphill, over a lake, on number eight. But I’ll be back, as the views and the location, are well worth the trip.

"if you can drive the ball 200 yards straight every time, youll do great" were the first words of advice from an employee. She wasnt wrong. Links style course, with outrageous views and challenging holes. This is not a beginners course. If you dont consistently shoot in the 90s or less, bring a lot of balls, or get better before playing here. Includes few and challenging par threes many long par fives. Includes jaw dropping views. Oldest course west of the Mississippi

Ive only used the driving range so far. Beautiful views of the water. Oldest golf course West of the Mississippi. Plenty of Naval history here...used to be a Navy base. NO drivers on the range, only irons and hybrids. Worn mats over concrete for teeing off at the range. Employees all seemed interested in something else, like their iPods, instead of customer service. Facilities a little dumpy.

Beautiful views and nice feel of being "away from it all". Nice variety of holes. Staff is generally friendly. Some aspects are a bit rough -- cart paths are in alarming disrepair in places. Groundskeepers have an odd habit of watering the bunkers. But hey Im not a pro and so I enjoy myself on what is a beautiful course.

I had never played the course in spite of it being less than 20 miles from my house. Surprising elevation changes on a course basically built on man made island and stunning views for a muni course. Its not a long course, but is still very challenging due to the elevation changes and the small greens.

Great atmosphere and views! Golf carts need to be updated, but had a blast nonetheless. Food is good, scenery is good, course is challenging, and flow was great. I didnt see a refreshment cart come by, so that would be a nice upgrade too. It was a beautiful drive in as well.

Have been playing this course for 15 years, it is need of a huge weed control never seen it so over run, some bunkers are now weeds only,no Sand? Greens and fairways o.k great views.some cars paths are losing to the huge sticker weeds hanging over, course is very sad..

Great views from almost every hole the people working there were great and the local 2 sum we joined were really nice guys. Greens were challenging and very well kept. I traveled from So. Cal and couldnt have found a better vacation course.

I enjoy playing here. Nice staff, low key, and friendly. The course seems to be in better condition than last summer. It is a challenging course with some amazing and very unique views of San Pablo Bay.

This is one of my favorite courses. Good views, lots of personality and relatively inexpensive. The one negative is the sand traps. They are rock hard (literally some have rocks in them).

Beautiful vistas overlooking the Bay. Some coyote sightings on the course. Lots of challenging holes. Average golfer would need a few balls to stay out of the nature preserves.

This course is going down fast. Unhealthy, Drying fairways. Broccoli greens. Something is definitely wrong. Who is in charge? Emergency rx please. Pity : such a nice course.

Only used driving range. Driving range is elevated and you cannot use drivers. Limited to irons and hybrids to about 150-175 yards
