So my son and I won a pair of tickets to see A Christmas Carol at The Imaginists Theatre. I had never heard of it before but the tickets were free so I figured what have we got to lose? We showed up a little early to the show and were finishing a quick bite in the car. The sun was setting and there were about 3 to 4 homeless people loitering around the theatre, and I have to be honest, I thought to myself “What sketchy part of downtown SR have I taken my kid to???”. The front door to the theatre was locked (since the vagrants kept trying to enter the place) and I had to knock to be let in. Low and behold the show starts and in come all of the homeless people that I had been convinced were some deranged wanna-a-be thespians (one of them was mumbling Shakespeare or something). Turns out they were the performers, to which I laughed at myself for being somewhat sketched out at first. Anyway the show was _really_ good, real emotions were felt. This is coming from someone who has been dragged to 20-odd shows on Broadway and has slept through every one of them. Even my son enjoyed it although I will say it was a bit loud/scary for a child, I wouldn’t take any child under 7 to this performance. TLDR; Excellent local theatre with impressively convincing performers, I look forward to their next production!

An amazing, creative theatre company. Very original - nothing like them anywhere in the bay area as far as Ive seen. Theyve been performing for over 20 years - the last 8 in Santa Rosa. If youve been avoiding theatre because you cant stand another production of "Cats" or "Oklahoma" CHECK THESE GUYS OUT! They will blow your mind!
