WOW. Terrific Tours really is terrific! I dont know how to better describe it. I dont know what that other person is talking about. They are definitely not snobs! I filled out something on their website about being interested and they called me the next day. It was easy to book, they sent me a confirmation email, and then called the night before to confirm. We had an amazing day. Our tour guide, Ryan, was awesome. He was knowledgeable and fun. He made the hour long drive into a fun trivia game. I learned a lot about California, wine making, and tasting. But he definitely didnt make us feel inadequate if we didnt know a lot about wine. He was happy to share his knowledge and experience with us. It was just a positive, fun, and relaxed atmosphere. I couldnt believe what a great experience we were getting. This was my first trip to California and I was really excited to do some wine tasting. I like wine, but really knew nothing about it. I also had no idea what I was looking for in a tour. I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews. I finally came across TT and read that they never have more than 12 people. I started thinking about what the experience might be like on a big bus full of 30 or 40 people. Doesnt sound as fun, right? I couldnt even find one bad review on TT, only terrific ones, so I decided this might be perfect. Boy, was I right! I cant believe I almost went on a tour with one of those companies with decent reviews and huge buses. Ryan let us have total control of our day. He is a Sonoma local and obviously knew a lot about the area and its history. We all learned a lot and he took us to smaller vineyards with some of the best wine I have ever had the chance to enjoy. We were able to go to vineyards where those big tour buses couldnt. He also gave us a couple choices for lunch and let the group decide. We decided to let him take us to a small, local restaurant with delicious, fresh food. We had a great time and we bought a bottle at ever place we stopped! Another great thing about TT...they take care of the tasting fees! On vacation, its just nice to not have to think about that. We got to just relax and enjoy ourselves. I guess they build that into their price, but, to be honest, the other companies I found were all around the same price ($100-$110/per person) and they didnt include tasting fees. Ryan called each winery before we arrived to let them know we were coming and they we ready for us by the time we walked through the door. Then, he took care of all the fees while we enjoyed the wine. I also liked that TT is a small company (family owned, I think) that just loves wine and wants to share their love for it. It really makes for a positive experience. They dont even really advertise. We spoke to some of the other customers and they all said they found out about TT through reading the positive reviews on the internet. I could go on forever about what a great experience we had with Terrific Tours and our driver/guide, Ryan. However, I think you get the point... If youre interested in a Sonoma wine tour, you HAVE to call TT. I promise you, it will be totally worth it and you will have a wonderful day of wine tasting, eating, and fun.

Terrific Tours does a great job creating an enjoyable environment with their friendly guides and small groups. I definitely had a great time with the atmosphere they helped to create and the stops chosen along the way (Golden Gate Bridge and Sonoma Downtown). However, after reading so much about how people had been taken to 4-5 wineries with all tasting fees included through their tour with TT, I was disappointed to see that was not the case with our tour. We were taken to 3 wineries, 2 of which we had to pay a $15 tasting fee (for the smallest tasting menu. It was way more to do a proper tasting). One of the wineries had a very kitschy, commercial feel and honestly felt like it should not be included in a tour like this. At our last winery, our guide made us feel rushed even though it was only our 3rd winery. We were then promptly dropped off at the ferry for which we had to buy our tickets to get back to San Francisco. I was left wondering what we had even paid $120 for as I was constantly doling out cash to do anything. It seems theres an inconsistency with Terrific Tours and that really should not be the case if we are all paying the same amount. 3 wineries without tasting fees included versus other tours having 5 wineries with fees included hardly seems like a consistent tour. I would tell people to double check and ensure what they will be getting in their tour before spending their money.

I cant say enough about Terrific Tours! Our group consisted of the two of us and one other couple. The four of us were able to visit wineries with our favorite wines and it was a very personal experience. Of the four wineries we visited, three were very small but in the one larger one, we encountered a bus full of people from another tour. They were packed around the bar and were basically fending for themselves and they had to pay for their own tasting fees. The four of us all noted how lucky we were to have found Terrific Tours and the jealousy from members of the large tour group was obvious! All of our tasting fees were included and the included ferry ride back to San Fran from Sonoma was icing on the cake. Stop searching and book with Terrific Tours, you wont be disappointed!

Ive used Terrific Tours twice. The last time was when my friend booked a tour for her birthday. Steve was an awesome tour guide. Once you start a conversation with him, you can see right away that he has a passion for wine. He took us to 4 vineyards in Sonoma County and catered to the groups taste. And hes a good driver. Im the type that can get motion sickness easily, but I didnt get sick at all. This company also does tours in Napa, and can pick you up in San Francisco (but you have to take the ferry back.) I highly recommend booking a wine tour through Terrific Tours.

Thank you to Melissa and Travis for an amazing day! Melissa was helpful booking our tour, no pressure selling, very interested in wanting to make our trip what we wanted. Travis was our driver and tour expert! His knowledge of wine, the area, and his passion for wanting to share it with others was genuine. Based on our likes/dislikes, Travis chose wineries that we would enjoy. His recommendation for lunch was superb. Overall this was a great experience and Id recommend it to anyone.

If you are looking for a tour company to tour Sonoma or Napa, this is the one for you. Our guide was excellent and for $150 per person, we were in a very small van (6 other people - 3 couples) and able to visit 5 different wineries with a tour guide who was a winemaker himself. That covered tasting fees at the various wineries as well as the trip out of San Francisco. So worth the money. Highly recommend.
