This relatively new museum ( less than one year old ) is in the completely renovated Limoneira Building, one of the areas finest. It has a small permanent collection centered on local plein air artists, a number of whom have well earneed national and regional reputations. The museum mounts shows of excellent quality featuring plein air. The exhibits to date have been remarkably fine. If you are on your way up the Coast on Route 101 to Santa Barbara it is worth a detour up Route 126 to visit the museum as well as the California Oil Museum next door. Santa Paula also has a couple of good Mexican restaurants as well as Hozys, a surprisingly fine restaurant with a world class wine list. The surrounding countryside is a very fine agricultural area known for its citrus, etc.

Its a great little museum. The town has worked hard to make this museum come to life and they hold some great events every few weeks. They feature a lot of local artists and their exhibits are always changing.

A historic, creative, talented, gifted and classy art experience in a unique little town. Classic California artists to new upcoming artists ~ a must see on a weekend drive.
