This was the first time Ive played this course, had heard good things about it. So for $55 for 18 holes I decided to check it out. The staff in the pro shop and marshals on the course were not very friendly and welcoming. The nicest person was the lady working the bar. The Mission Course was in nice condition and played well. The Freyer Course was a disaster and I would not have payed $10 to play it. No one from the course warned us of this condition. The entire day (Saturday) there were other golfers on almost every hole playing out of our fairways...I dont know where these guys learned to play golf but it was very annoying constantly trying to figure out where these guys were coming from and dodging their balls all day. There was also 3 tournaments going on and at the end of the Freyers Couse one of the groups all gathered (about 20 of them) on the green to welcome the final foursome in front of us with loud cheers and taunting the foursome in play for the remainder of that hole. Dont think this is a course I will return to if this is a typical experience.

I came down to San Diego in 1976 to go to San Diego State and generally loaf and play golf. In the site of Riverwalk was the Stardust Golf Club, which had hosted PGA events. There were a lot of trees at Stardust. It was a tough and kind of rough track. American golf bought it in the mid 90s and tore out about half of the trees. So, this makes Riverwalk a "crank it up and release" type of course. Pound your drives and theres not much trouble if you aim to the right ( or left) side of the fairway. There are three nines. The best is Mission, which had the signture across the water, to a pretty green with a small pond and waterfall behind it. The greens are very tricky and strokes saved on errant drives give way to three-jacks on the green. The wind blows seriously in the afternoon, and will often add a club or two to when you are right into it. Worth a serious try and its very centrally located

My son and his wife held their wedding at Riverwalk 2 weeks ago. I was so happy and impressed with the staff of Riverwalk. Everything was set up beautifully, our guests were all accommodated, they made the whole event fun smoothly and very professionally. From the food servers, bartenders and to our main contact/coordinator Alex....literally the best staff!! Alex was Awesome!! She was quick, attentive and right there when we needed her she made sure all was taken care of. And the food was amazing!!! I kept hearing the guests commenting on how the delicious the food was. I would highly recommend having a wedding or any event at Riverwalk from the staff to the beautiful view you are sure to have a very nice time!! Thank you and thanks again Alex!!!

I live near the golf course and have played it many times. It has recently been taken over by another company and it seems like cost cutting is their goal. The first thing that they did was take out the GPSs from the golf carts. They were really handy for both yardage and keeping score. It looks like they remarked the sprinkler heads again but this comes up short. The ball washers dont have any water in them. The lakes/ponds are being run dry. Maybe they dont want to pay for the water? The cart girl is very hard to find. On the bright side, the greens were in great shape. Riverwalk - stop the cost cutting. You are going to lose your clientele. There are many other golf courses to play.

I get that its Southern California and were in a drought but the conditions do not warrant 79+ dollars to play. The greens were fine. And that was about it. perhaps in non-drought conditions it would be fine. But when I pay upwards of 60-70 dollars I expect to play somewhere decent. The conditions warranted like a 20-30 dollar greens fee. Not 80. Also found the pro shop staff and starter to be less than helpful for someone who hasnt played there before. Overall its not a bad place. Just not anywhere near being worth 79 dollars or more to play it. I can play Torrey Pines for less than that and Coronado for less than half that. Both much better value. Probably wont be back.

Its a nice course and facility that is unfortunately hampered by terrible service and poor "dont care" kind of staff. First time I played we experiences a complete failure of course management. As we turned to the tenth tee, giving us the right of way "we were turning" we came around the corner to see a line of people trying to tee off in front of us. The marshalls or starter was just putting people out with no regard to the players in the field. We had to fight our way off the tee to keep our spot. I was given a voucher for free play. the next time I played it wasnt much better, the staff at this course really have no idea whats going on.

I was excited to play this course, but this quickly fizzled. We had 3 golf carts die on us, and to be honest, we didnt mind walking. What was shocking was how poorly Riverwalk handled our cart issue--the front desk nor any attendants apologized, we were put on hold for 15 minutes while trying to play, and when finally advised (by the bartender late at nt) that the asst GM or GM would be happy to help resolve our bad experience we thought things were gonna get better. However, both GMs havent called back after 4 messages. Simply put, this is a poorly managed course, and there are too many good courses out there to waste my time on this one.

My party and I certainly enjoyed our golf game but got rained out after nine holes. Unfortunately we were unable to get a rain check for the last nine as their policy does not allow it. Being visitors from out of town we did not have our own clubs and they charged a ridiculous amount of $35 per set. This made our cost so high that we were determined to play even in the rain. We made it a few more holes but had to give up as we were so wet and cold. I think the club should lower the cost of rentals and allow rainchecks in the unlikely event that there is rain. The course is well kept and the greens were in fairly good shape.

I was also there yesterday on Saturday. We had slow play and even though the marshall addressed the slow play ( 2 1/2 ) behind the groups didnt change their pace. Marshal indicated that the group got upset with him after the second request. After, the marshal asked us to play a different 9 rather than enforce the issue with the group. So either enforce your policies or get someone that will. We are not PGA professionals out here, we are rec. players trying to have a good time and experience. The course has had a good reputation why mess it up because someone wont take control.

The course is nice and well maintained however the service is so poor it is a joke. My son and I had never been to the course, but the lazy starter could not be bother to tell us where to go, so he just told me to follow someone who had a t-time before us. We also fell victim to some "yahoos" who were hitting up on us - whats the rush no one was on the course, relax, play enjoy. They hit our cart and almost my son. When I reported the incidents, nothing was done, however they did offer to talk to the offenders. Too late the day was ruined.
