This space is wonderful for either a casual hike or a heart-pounding trail run. If you do the 3-mile loop (beginning with the entrance closest to the "extra" parking), your experience will be about 1.5 miles up a very gradual incline of trail. You begin shaded area, get up to the meadow view (which is definitely my favorite part of the hike), and then gradually decline about another 1.5 miles on a shaded trail with the sound of a babbling creek on your left. If you go very early in the morning or later in the evening you are sure to see lots of deer - I counted 13 on my last visit. The last part of the trail requires that you cross about 4-5 feet wide of that creek you passed earlier, so expect to get your feet a little wet (unless youre a pro rock-hopper)! I have not had a problem parking here both at 9 AM on a Saturday and 3:30 PM on a Sunday, but with how beautiful this place is, its sure to get more popular!

Nice trail system for hikers, bikers, and horse riders. The park has two almost distinct sets of trails, forming a "figure of 8" of sorts. The lower part of the "eight" has a bit less than five miles and is suitable for an easy to moderate hike. The upper level is far steeper and recommended for intermediate hikers. Mountain bikers have the option of doing the lower loop a few times or going for the entire course, which can be demanding. Theres also a flat 0.8 mile loop next to the parking lot, for those with children or getting back into shape. Parking is free, but watch for park closing times to avoid getting your vehicle locked inside the parking lot.

We went for a hike this spring, to see the wildflowers. We only did the trail that went from the parking lot, somewhat along the creek since we had little ones. The elementary kids in our bigger group really enjoyed climbing up the slope, full of wildflower and knee-high grass. Everyone enjoyed hopping across the rocks on the shallow creek, and the kids loved going into the shallow creek to play. There were tadpoles, frogs and backswimmers!

I enjoy running at Harvey Bear, but I wanted to switch it up. This place is SO QUIET and peaceful. Tons of wildlife with a few very hilly trails. Its also gorgeous (classic California oaks and rolling hills) and I only saw one other person when I was there. Great secret of this area.

Good mountain biking loop here. Challenging steep climb in places. Do the loop clockwise to avoid unrideable climbs (unless you are Superman). Avoid on a hot summer afternoon as trails are exposed to sun for about half the time.

Beautiful hike in a lovely peaceful area. Several trails of varying difficulty to enjoy. Went on a wildflower hike in early April and was impressed with the variety. Also saw several Checkerspot butterflies!
