Let me start by saying Ive been to art galleries all over - Russia, France, Spain, Canada, and all over the Unites States and Caribbean (PR, Cuba, Aruba, etc) and yet I was most impressed with Agora Gallery. It was absolutely stunning. The structural lay out of the gallery, the ebb and flow of the space, was truly enchanting. Beautiful hard wood floors, clean white walls, high open ceilings and the right hue of lighting truly compliments and pays tribute to the gorgeous and riveting art that hangs in this gallery. All of this in combination makes this one of the best galleries I have entered in a long time. The art work is glorious and thought provoking. Multiple genres allow appreciation for all types of artistic taste. It is truly what a gallery should be...inspirational artwork from very talented artists. It has been a long time where I was moved by a contemporary impressionist at one turn, stunned by a colorful abstract at the next and captured by the stillness and beauty of a photograph all in one independent gallery. Amazing gallery, I highly recommend to those who are in NYC and are looking for a real art experience and wish to be transcended to a time when art galleries didnt just worship the "commercial", but when instead they showed actual ART. The gallery also has a very warm, accommodating staff who allow you to quietly enjoy your time, but if needed, are sweet and helpful if you have questions. No fake pretension (because lets face it, true art is NOTHING about pretension...if you encounter pretentious behavior at a gallery, leave at once, as they are wanna-bes). Agora Gallery is wonderful, charming, and exquisite with a warm, old world European feel to it - I say to put this gallery on your list of "must-sees" while in NYC.

What a beautiful space! and the people were so nice! We went gallery hopping in Chelsea and stumbled upon Agora Gallery - its a contemporary fine art gallery on 25th st - they are located on the 2nd floor but there is a staircase that takes you directly from the street to the gallery - the exhibition poster on the street grabbed our attention and we walked in - what a beautiful space - yes I know I already wrote it twice but it really is a great space - very well lighted and spacious - that art was interesting and the people at the gallery were very friendly and made us feel very welcome - it was a very nice surprise in the middle of a cold winter day!

My review is for the business structure of this gallery (not the location, staff, or the quality of the artwork). The Agora Gallery is financed by unwary artists. The gallery searches the Internet for inexperienced artists willing to pay over $3000 up front (and annually) to have their work shown and promoted in New York. In addition the gallery takes a 30% commission on sales. An artist would need to get $4,300 in sales a year just to break even. Many reputable galleries choose artists wisely and do not require any investment, but sell by commission only: 50% - 60% of actual sales.

What a gorgeous gallery! As someone who frequents Chelsea, I am always amazed at the talented range of artists Agora boasts, interesting exhibitions, and the space overall. Not to mention the welcoming, friendly staff, who has been helpful to me on countless occasions, whether it’s answering questions about the exhibition on view, or directing to me to a good cup of coffee! I would highly recommend Agora to art lovers everywhere, and am looking forward to my next visit!

Surprisingly, our highlight gallery in Chelsea. We spent a large part of the day in Chelsea, going to the High Line and many of the galleries there, and it turned out that this one, which wasnt on our must-see list to visit, was a suprise gem. Nice staff, great space, gorgeous, varied artwork, and we never got the feeling that they were wishing wed leave quickly. They seem to have new exhibitions every month so I would definitely go back.

A beautiful venue where we hosted HOBY NY Metros 2016 Wine Tasting and Silent Auction Fundraiser (hobynys.com/donate). Everyone loved the space and it helped make our event more special and cozy :) If you do host an event here, please make sure they have replaced their tables before signing your contract.

Amazing space, great light. Variety of artists with different backgrounds and techniques presented which makes the space even more interesting. Staff is very responsive and warm, many art galleries can be kind of "cold" and aseptic while Agora isnt like that.
