TERRIBLE WEDDING VENUE!!!!! STAY AWAY! I am the sister-in-law and one of the bridesmaids in a wedding that took place at the Chrysler on Saturday April 2nd. What was supposed to be a joyous occasion at this museum turned into endless amounts of unnecessary aggravation. Inept facility. Terrible layout as far as dressing rooms. Completely overpriced - not only the venue but the fact that options were limited, such as choice of caterers. Security was COMPLETELY OVERBEARING making the wedding EXTREMELY STRESSFUL AND TO THE POINT OF UNENJOYABLE for both the bridal party and the guests. For the amount of money paid for the venue, we should have been treated like guests - not convicts on lock down. As for the dressing rooms... The womens dressing room was average and all the way in the back of the museum. After the ceremony, the bridesmaids werent even allowed into their dressing rooms to gather belongings without the permission and escort of a security guard, at times, multiple. They would radio to each other as if we were convicts being escorted through a prison, stopping us from hallway to hallway. For heaven’s sake – I’m in a pink bridesmaids dress and I just want to get the items I left in the dressing room so I can LEAVE. There were two routes to the dressing room and they forced us to take the longest route every time, carrying all our belongings in our bridesmaids’ dresses and high heels, fully escorted. The groomsmen’s dressing room was merely a conference room, and they were continuously guarded, as well. When the wedding was over, we were told by the wedding planner (that my sister-in-law and brother-in-law were REQUIRED TO HIRE by the museum) and a SECURITY GUARD STANDING THERE to come to the FRONT DOOR and load wedding gifts into the car since there were too many to carry all at once. (They were on a table just inside the doorway.) We did as they said, AND THE MUSEUM WOULDNT LET US BACK IN TO GET THE WEDDING GIFTS. After much arguing and pleading with a lady on the intercom, they finally let us back in, but we were required to drive back around the building and come in through the back at the loading dock going through what might have well have been TSA security, and I then had to carry all the gifts across the ENTIRE MUSEUM, out the back door and down a steep flight of stairs in my heels and pink bridesmaids gown guarded by multiple security guards... because having me walk through the entire museum was a much better and safer idea then unlocking the door where the wedding gifts and wedding planner were - and where THEY TOLD US TO GO IN THE FIRST PLACE!! My dress caught the stairs and the bottom was torn in the process, which would have never happened if the museum wasnt completely unreasonable. Then my husband (the grooms brother) was hassled trying to get the booze and food, but was FINALLY allowed to back his truck into the loading dock to get it, where he was harassed by more security. Due to the security and the museum giving us the run around sending us from locked door to locked door, it took an hour to load the wedding gifts and the alcohol, and we missed the after party for the bride and groom. If the venue isnt equipped to have guests in it then they shouldnt be having weddings there! I used to frequent the museum, always giving a cash donation upon entry - Now I will never step foot in that place again. If you want to get married in a beautiful art museum, go to MOCA at the Oceanfront! That is where I got married. Great venue. Plenty of parking. Your choice of caterers, florists, etc. Reasonable staff. Wedding party and guest friendly. Much more reasonably priced. And you aren’t on lock down! We may have lost a cell phone there, but at least we were allowed to walk back in to get our wedding gifts without being sent from door to door around the building and treated like criminals! STAY AWAY - THERE ARE MUCH BETTER VENUES IN HAMPTON ROADS.

A wonderful place to visit with the family, friends, a partner, or even by yourself! If you are looking for something to do in Norfolk that is culturally invigorating and a great learning experience the Chrysler Museum of Art is absolutely a gem for the Hampton Roads area! They have an amazing collection of art, artifacts, and sculptures that is always changing and growing. Some must sees include the glass art/sculpture exhibits (which is renowned), the free glass studio exhibitions at the museums own studio, and the wonderful painting collections from centuries of the past and today! The museum is run completely on donations and sponsorship with wonderful staff volunteers, so the admission is free for everyone, which is great for a family with children or someone on a budget looking to experience something new! Ive been here several times with my girlfriend and I bring my family here every time someone stops into town. Next time around I plan on making a personal donation of my own for all the great experiences the museum has offered to me and my loved ones, so other can continue to enjoy the Chrysler for free. I would highly recommend to anyone who has not had a chance to check it out for themselves!

This is the best art museum I have ever been to. There are so many works by great artists like Velazquez, Rubens, Cezanne, Monet, Picasso, Warhol, Pollock, Bernini, Matisse, Hopper, and many others. The museum is large so I would suggest spending at least an hour and thirty minutes there. The quality of the paintings was spectacular and include massive altarpieces, tapestries, murals, and installation art. It also has a collection of archaeological antiquities including a massive Egyptian stone sarcophagus and colossal statues of roman people. The special exhibitions are also very nice. For a free museum, this place is high quality. They do have a suggested donation though.

This is one of the best art museums I have ever been too. My son and I spent the whole day here. He came here on a field trip for school. He had to find certain pieces of art and answer questions about them on a test. It counted as his final grade. It was a very good learning experience for us both. I am so glad his art teacher picked this Museum. The art here is amazing! They have something for everyone. I LOVED the Egyptian room. Its a great place to take the young and old. And I must say, The staff was very helpful, and the museum was very clean. I definitely recommend going here, you wont regret it.

GREAT MUSEUM! WONDEFUL ART COLLECTION! AND FOR FREE!!! One of the best parts of this Museum was that it all was for FREE (no admission or parking fee)! I was very surprised since the museum is very big and they have a huge collection. I especially was in AWE of the paintings and sculptures upstairs. They were fascinating and beautiful and very old. A piece of history! They had some relics of Egypt like a sarcophagus and things of the Roman empire as well! Just awesome! If you enjoy and appreciate Art this Museum is a must see. Great place! Highly recommended!!

This place is SO SO SO beautiful, I wanted to get married here, its SO amazing. But because of its beauty its pretty hard to get your date, so call asap. It really is a site you need to see for yourself, one down fall is that you have to use their catering. The wedding director is sweet, and very helpful. Their catering serves cocktail hour in part of the museum which is super cool, because you can see some of the art. Check it out!
