First off, largest fair west of the Mississippi river. Used to be called the Puyallup Fair. It really is a fun location to go to whether as an individual, couple, family, or organization. There is a bit of everything for everyone. You have your classic fair foods and fair exclusives. Burgers, pizza, elephant ears, roast corn, BBQ, teriyaki, Thai, BACON covered/flavored/smothered/salted stuff, and many other various foods and varieties. Of course you must mention specifically the delicious scones that most people seem to carry away one, ten, bakers dozen, several bakers dozens.... yea they like them a lot. Especially good when freshly hot with a slathering of butter and jam. While none of these places are likely going to get a Michelin star rating, they are very popular with visitors such as BBQ Petes and Earthquake burgers. If you are hungry an Earthquake burger is probably right up your alley. Then there are the expo halls full of merchants/vendors. There are actually several areas including the main one by the grandstand as well one underneath the grandstand. Through them all you will see various food vendors (who will encourage you to snack on samples), cooking demonstrations, product demonstrations, tons of product occasionally accompanied by an enthusiastic sales person, mattresses/Jacuzzi/massage chair (everywhere), and many other interesting booths. Mixed in the wings is where you can find amazing local craft contests and hobby collections. There an numerous categories in the crafts that include model vehicles, dolls, artwork, needlework, Legos, carvings, and way more. They also include demonstrations of many of those crafts at many different demonstration locations. The hobby collections are very eclectic and will amaze many just by the content of the collections. You have classic dolls, pins, and Hot Wheels; but then you will also see National Parks brochures, Xena the Warrior Princess, Carebears, kite string holders, and other personal life collections. Many of these areas also let you participate in Peoples Choice awards for some of the art and other crafts in contrast to the Judges awards. Another large section is the animal barns where you can see horses, dogs, goats, cows, birds, and a huge assortment of other animals. Along with the barns are demonstrations like draft horses pulling carriages and introduction to baby goats called kids. In addition to the animals being evaluated for quality, there are contests for horsemanship, dog shows, and even a chance to sign your child up to do a sheep rodeo. Beyond the animals there is huge entertainment area that includes a vast midway peppered by lots of different rides for all ages. A large midway is surrounded by a kids rides area and an area for slightly bigger kids (as long as they meet the height restriction). Roller coasters, drop zones, slingshots, carousels, fun houses, and a gondola that transverses the whole width of the fair to name a few. The rides all cost tickets which can be loaded on a fun pass which doesnt have to be used all at once. It can be used the following year as long as you dont lose it. Totally worth it. Also BECU usually will host one weekend where kids under 18 are free admission.

WATCH OUT FOR THE SECURITY THEY WILL BLAME YOU FOR THINGS!!!!! I am a long time resident of Puyallup and always make it a point to visit the fair at least once a year. We bring our kids and always have a great time, spendy but fun!!. This year I met a friend of mine and her 5 year old son along with my daughter who is 3. We were in line for a ride, patiently waiting for them to open up, there was another 12 people or so behind us, a security guard came up and said who ever has the 2nd pink hammer please come return it, it has been reported stolen, a gentleman spoke up and said he just bought his she said No I am speaking to the two girls up front, which made myself and my friend turn and say US? she said yes where is the pink hammer? We looked at each other like what the heck!!!! We have no idea what your talking about it, she said there are witnesses that have said they saw you two with the pink hammer, REALLY????? NO PINK HAMMER HERE!!!! We were sitting at those tables over there for 20 minutes then here for 5. The security guard took off to some game/vender area and talked with the person or person(s) that said it was us, she then returns all huffy and puffy and says "you can deny it all you want but we have witnesses that saw you take it and set it down" and she then stormed off!!!!! The strangest most ridiculous thing ever!!!! NEVER had a pink hammer in our hands, never even went by the booth that she said it was from!!!!! After the ride we tried to locate her, to not only clear ourselves and be able to enjoy the fair but to also get an apology from her for assuming it was us! We were unable to locate her but did find the supervisor who really wasnt much help, other than he knew who we were talking about and said he was sorry!! ~If you are going to call someone out in a group setting, pull them aside and discuss the situation, dont attack us, as if your god and we are little bugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Puyallup fair I hope this female security guard learns NOT to have a chip on her shoulder and get the FACTS before she attacks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After 30 minutes trying to clear this mess up we were able to enjoy the rest of the day, however that situation just STILL isnt sitting well with me!!!!!!!!!!!!

The fair itself has been Awesome. In all the years (50) that I have been coming to this fair every employee has been courteous and helpful. I volunteer at the fair in the Hobby Hall showing people my hobbies. Generally when I come, I park in the Red lot, but it was full when I arrived so I drove over to the Gold lot and after I exchanged my parking pass I followed the parking attendants guidance and went into the lane she indicated. This other parking attendant started yelling at me saying I had to go back into the line everyone else was in that I could not cut, or park anywhere else. I told him that I was not trying to cut in line. and Im sorry that he was having a bad day. I was really concerned with his attitude. But I parked where indicated and stopped by to let him know that I was not cutting I was directed to go into that lane. (but there was no apology, just blame). As I was walking to the fair, I saw a parking attendant on a bike. Her name was Theresa. I told her about my concern not really expecting anything, and she asked me to point the attendant out. I did so and she said I should get my car and park up closer. She would help me find a spot. I was concerned about him saying something so she walked me to my car and flagged me up to the front. She was a parking attendant, I usually come in contact with when Im at the fair. I was pleased with her thoughtfulness and care. I believe she deserves Kudos for a Job well done. Inside the fair, it was Awesome. I had a piece of marion berry pie warmed and ala-mode. It was fantabulous. Then I went home.
