My experience with Rio Plaza was amazing! The entire staff was very attentive to my and my fiances (now husband) needs and requests. Every meeting and encounter was so professional and thorough that on the day of our wedding we knew we had nothing to worry about. Melanie Planas, Catie Cottigham and Traci Burton will never know how much it meant to me! People are still talking about how amazing the food was, how beautiful the venue was and what a memorable wedding it was. The signature drink is also the talk of the town and its been a month already!!! The wait staff also felt like family! Jefferey asked me over and over, lol, if I needed or wanted anything. He and the rest of the staff made sure my husband and I (as well as our guests) were taken care of. I have several friends that want this same experience and I tell them all Rio Plaza is where you will get it! Honestly, I cannot imagine getting married anywhere else. The rooftop in October made a perfect location for ceremony and the new Grande Vista room made downtown San Antonio sparkle as we had a great view through the panoramic windows. The decor was well above what I thought it was going to be. From the penthouse room that me and the bridal party got dressed in...all the way to the horse and carriage send off (which I also recommend) was breathtaking. Thank you all so much for making the biggest day of my life a night to remember!

This was the worst experience Ive ever had with a coordinator named, Melanie.I tried to get some information for two weddings coming up this year, When I told Melanie that I used to work there many years ago and I have an idea of what the floor plan may look like she got really obnoxious and rude more like defensive. Not only that, she actually hang up on me, I waited for her to maybe try and call back thinking it might have got disconnected by accident , she never did call back until I had to call her, at this point when I ask to speak to her manager she refused to give me a name , when she finally did give me a name because I told her I would go to the restaurant for myself she said, here you go!!!!!!!, Im sure she would love to talk to you since you have a along history here, what she means by that I dont understand I have not worked there for almost 20 years lol . I will make sure I will never recommend this place ever again to any upcoming brides, God only knows what would have happen once a contract is signed. With that kind of attitude I can imagine how they would have treated us through the whole event. Im very disappointed considering I have seen pictures on there website and it looked really inviting, too bad their staff is not as inviting as there website. Melanie really needs to find another job, one that has no corresponding with human beings

I was so happy I chose to get married and have my reception here. I was originally going to get married at South Padre Island but it was getting too expensive not only for us but for our guests too. I called the event coordinator, Melanie, a few months away from my wedding date and was frantic that I had to start my planning completely over. Melanie held my hand and walked me through all the details and gave great suggestions that really made a difference with the decorations. I wanted a romantic, classy yet simple intimate wedding and reception. Melanie helped me find venues and worked with me every step of the way (especially since I was already stressed and had no idea what I was doing). The ceremony and reception went without a hitch (that I was aware of, which is what counts) and all of my guests had a blast. Getting married here, I felt like I got a great deal because I had my very own wedding planner that went above and beyond to make sure I was happy on my special day. My wedding was exactly what I wanted and envisioned thanks to the all the staff that made sure everything ran smoothly. I would recommend the Rio Plaza to anyone who plans to get get married downtown San Antonio.

Let me first say, the venue is beautiful. We had a beautiful wedding. However, be very careful to read EVERYTHING. They have some very "back room" type business ethics. We got totally screwed on our final bill and did not receive everything that was promised. The coordinator Melanie was the worst about this. In our meetings, things were asked of her and the venue that she said "Were no problem". That NEVER happened and were not done as asked. When we contacted the venue with our concerns after the fact it took 2 weeks to get an answer out of someone, Traci. Who said that Melanie was not in a position to offer those things to begin with, but thanks for having your wedding here. No compensation offered, nothing. Good luck if you decide to have an event here. Like I said beautiful venue. NOT worth the headache of dealing with the staff. I sure hope the owners read reviews. Will not be doing business with them again. EVER.

Rio Plaza was a wonderful place to have our wedding. After visiting several venues in and around the San Antonio area, my husband and I decided on Rio Plaza. I am so glad that we did. The venue was beautiful, the food was delicious, the margaritas were still being talked about by our guests and they all told us that they had so much fun! The price was very reasonable and included, a day of coordinator, food, table decorations, clean-up, set-up, drinks, and venue for reception and ceremony. Melanie, the wedding coordinator was helpful, cheerful and quickly helped with any obstacles we encountered. I had a stress-free wedding day because everything was handled so well by Melanie and the staff at Rio Plaza. I would highly recommend having any event at this venue! They made our special day, truly, the BEST day ever!

The Rio Plaza was awesome!!! Our wedding was outside on the 4th floor at the end of July so it was a little hot, however, there were portable AC units blowing outside which prevented everyone from getting hot. Our coordinator, Melanie, did an OUTSTANDING job with everything that we asked.My wife and I were unprepared and did not understand how stressful our wedding planning would be, but Melanie and the staff at the Rio Plaza really made things easier and less stressful. Due to my wifes indecisiveness, there were many last minute changes, perfectly arranged and taken care of by the staff. My wifes special day was handled flawlessly and that is what every man wants to know.

Let me start by stating We had an AMAZING person, that help make my wedding experience a Delight! Melanie U. did an outstanding job and made sure everything came out perfect. We had our rehearsal dinner in the Las Leyendas penthouse! We had a lot of family come from out of town and they loved the venue and views the penthouse provided! The waitstaff were attentive and the food came out hot and on time! The bartender did a great job! There is no doubt that Melanie and Rio Plaza had our wedding start off in a wonderful journey that we will never forget! I recommend this place to WOW your guest and get a warm welcome to Texas!!!
