Went here with family... A pleasant experience. Theres a mix of people who stop by here from Hispanics, Whites, Blacks (American), Africans, Arabs, Asians, etc. A broad culturally-diverse social setting of people here at the museum... People here are usual decent, and mean well. You cant bring food and drink to eat inside the museum though; but I dont think the staff mind if you bring a water bottle to drink water from. Its a nice, wide spread out museum with many interesting art exhibits on display to check out. Dont forget to bring your camera for photos and a notebook for writing down important notes! A lot of local students who attend University of Houston go here to get their assigned art/history class homework done here as well. I think many different journalist, photographer and artist types come here too... There are museum tour guides present throughout the different areas of the museum to help guide people along and answer potential questions guests and visitors have. Overall, on a "leisure day" when someone has time and wants to "explore history and art" I think coming over here to the Houston Museum of Fine Arts is a good trip when planned well.

We are members. But its pretty bad when you call management several times and management does not bother to call you to resolve the issue. Its been 4 weeks and they have yet to respond to my concern regarding the fact that my membership card does not work with the new parking validation system. Therefore, I am not getting my discounted parking. Ive shown them pictures to show my validation ticket does not recognize my membership. Way to go Houston MOFA. Is this how you treat your members! And, on 3 different occasions, I have not gotten my parking discount. Why dont you call me, or mail me new membership cards like you said you would? The other dilemma is that what used to be a decent experience has now become a nightmare. You have to go into a hot parking garage, wait in line for the elevator, walk in the heat to the museum, wait in line again to get your tickets, wait in line again when you are leaving because there is only 1 parking validation machine, stand in line in a hot area because the stupid fan you have in the parking garage DOES NOT work, and then wait in line to go find your car, and wait in line to exit.

Went to see sculpted in steel exhibit with my two boys, 2.5 and 4.5 y-old. Found staff particularly rude to families. Cars were set on platforms, about 1 inch tall with a black border, a fence and a rope. As soon as a kid touched a rope, or put a foot on the black margin, a guard was intervening - not with the best manners- It happened 3-4 times, and I found it extremely rude that they were not leaving ME the needed 10 seconds to realize that my kid was not respecting the rule, and correct the situation, people were systematically tracking us and reacting the second something was irregular. My kids were never close to touching the cars themselves, they just had a tendency to touch the ropes that were set at their hands heights. This exhibit is great to introduce art to young boys, and we were looking forward our visit. We were hoping for democratic, opened, world class museum, but found a snob institution, very disrespectful of a young clientele and families raising little citizens. There is room for improvement.

What an excellent museum. I had a wonderful 4 hours walking art my own pace. Got to see everything I wanted with tune to spare. A great variety of paintings that are kept guarded by the staff. There is a monitor constantly eyeballing you from room to room. Some were kinder than others, yet they let you study the paintings as much as youd like! One guards even its underground in the trippy tunnel. Photography was allowed everywhere minus certain exhibit rooms (always the room where the koran is) and an impressionist show that was being featured. They had some massive romantic era paintings arranged in a huge room which really highlighted the paintings and gave them the respect they deserve. Lots of amazing busts too! All around inspirational museum with 2 free parking areas on main street. If you have the time, go. You will not regret it. Check out the free admission deals too on their site. Lots of ways to get in free. One way is to eat at their cafe and get in free!

Go on a Thursday! If you get a chance, go to visit MFAH for free all day from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m on Thursdays. This is a must-visit if youre a Houstonian, or if youre just visiting. What a great way to get out of the Houston heat for a little while too! On most days, tickets are $14 if you buy them online but its still worth it. The past three times Ive gone, the exhibits havent really changed. The majority of the art is very modern, but they have all kinds of different collections from the Native American art to Egyptian, you name it. There are a TON of historic paintings here as well. Supposedly, there is also a theatre (in which I havent been able to visit yet), but I would love to some day! Parking is usually pretty crowded, but Ive always been able to find a parking spot. The parking lot is located right across the museum. If youre hungry, there are a few food trucks parked in the nearby area. Free art and delicious food! What wouldnt you go?

If you are an Art enthusiast or just want to broaden your cultural horizons then the Museum of Fine Arts Houston is the place to visit. The best day to go is on Thursday’s, its FREE to the public all day. Beautiful scenic views of downtown Houston located in proximity to the museum, which is really nice if you want to take a leisure stroll. The museum showcases several exhibits, so it is best to check in advance to see which collections are on view. Audio tours are offered for an additional fee, but worth the experience. The museum has a theater as well which shows feature films monthly, the website events calendar and films directory is helpful with dates and times. If you work up and appetite from seeing all the wonderful Art work and artifacts, then you don’t have to go too far the museum has a cafe adjacent to the museum. To enjoy and all-inclusive experience of fine art and food then, definitely take a trip to the Museum of Fine Arts Houston.

If youre looking for something to do in Houston, you should check out MFAH in the museum district and expand your knowledge of fine art. There are so many rooms of different styles of contemporary art from different artists as well as themes/countries. The main show room changes every few months so theres always new art to see. I happened to visit during the Spectacular Rubens exhibit which showcased elaborate tapestries featuring the principles of the Roman Catholic Church in the 17th century. I havent had the chance to visit the Soto: The Penetrable interactive exhibit (floating sea of plastic strands) yet, but will keep an eye out if that piece of art comes back to Houston. Make sure to visit on a Thursday since admission is free all day (10AM - 9PM)!

i m p r e s s i o n i s t b o y s Dali Van Picasso (3 words) 1 sentence: This place is magnificent. Go now. There are tons of coupons to go there free and parking is cheap or free around the corners so why wait now? Every time I come here I am awed by the amount of learning one can absorb in their time here. I am always so immersed into these things I always check out the most interesting paintings and sculptures of the bunch and find out more about them. Of course I do not leave out the rest and a quick Wiki search and I am graced with more information than I can handle (imagine having to absorb over 100 articles in a short period of time). This place just lets my mind flow freely and puts me into the shoes of those that gave us these pieces of art.
