I like this course for several reasons. It is close to town and there are not that many people playing it. You dont have to have a tee time. The facilities need a little work but they appear to be making efforts and the course is in great shape. I have played this course several times and find it very challenging. The addition of the Black tees has made it even more so. The lack of traffic lets me play at a nice leisurley pace. No one is pushing me to play faster. Having the bayou run through the course provides some interesting shots. There a total of 6 times that you cross the Bayou. Teeing off over the bayou on the first hole can be a little intimidating, but #1 is a short par 4 and is drivable if you are good with the long stick. I really like hole #2s green. The upside down bowl shape makes the approach shot pretty hard. It must have a 10 ft elevation. You have to land it in the center of the green to keep it up.#6 is a hard dog leg right around a stand of trees by the bayou. If you can get your drive up and over the trees you can cut the corner. #9, a par 5 makes you cross the bayou on your third or forth shot depending on your drive. #10 is internesting in that you have to cross 2 bayous. The big one on your drive and a smaller one on your approach shot. So dont hit it too long. There is also a long par three over the bayou on the back nine. All in all this course plays well. If you get comfortable on this course you will never fear water again. -Sam

This is absolutely the worst golf course I have ever been to in my life. The cons: The clubhouse is a dump No driving range The golf carts are in bad shape (ours died on the 9th hole) Ant piles on the greens The bunkers were full of rocks, dirt and weeds. No sand to be found. The course condition was horrible You think its cheap to play 18 for $40 but when you consider all the above it ends up being a rip off The pros: There is hardly anyone else playing so you almost have the entire course to yourself. We called on Saturday afternoon at 4PM to see if we could get two foursomes on the next day (Sunday) at 7:30AM and they surprisingly said they were wide open that morning. The management of the course is down right shameful; the City of Houston should be ashamed that this is a city course. The sad thing is this course could be really nice with some TLC, a driving range and a new clubhouse. If they did those things they could probably charge $65 to $75 and the course would be busy. Oh one more thing, someone in our group bought a 6-pack of bud light bottles. When he opened the first bottle it was full of water and no actual beer. Though Bud Light is close to water in this instance it was actual water. Beware the bottles at the course; only buy the cans.

I enjoyed playing at Glenbrook today. I work very close to the course, but wasnt aware it was there. The layout and topography reminded me of the Gus Wortham course, but Glenbrook is in better shape. The layout is challenging and I loved the elevation changes. The greens looked quite nice, especially for a municipal course. The fairways were also in very good condition. Everything was well manicured, and the facility very clean. I did not see any trash lying around on the ground. It’s unfortunate there is no driving range. The first golf cart I loaded my stuff in had a flat tire, and the second one just seemed to run rough. Parts of the cart paths could use some repaving, but were not uncommonly bad. I did not see any place to use the bathroom besides the clubhouse at the turn. I may not have noticed though. Overall, I had a good experience and would recommend it to friends. The main pieces, to me, were right; friendly staff, good course conditions, and a fun layout

I will never play here again. We get there a little before our tee time to find out that the wait is an hour. The reason for the wait is because they ran out of golf carts for people to use. We decided just to walk the front 9 so we didnt have to wait anymore. Good thing we got off because the "Pro" dealing with people going off joined the group behind us and played in a group of 7 for some money while all these other people waited behind them. The course was in awful shape, there was no difference between the fairway and rough (being the first time I played the course I had no clue where to even hit the ball), I felt like the yardage was a bit off on many of the holes, and the tee boxes were not labeled by color half the time. With all the courses in Houston go find somewhere else to play even if it means driving a little further.

Played 8/22/15, think the layout is awesome and the property is excellent for a golf course. Greens were in great condition but the rest of the course needs maintained something terrible! Tee boxes werent marked on many holes, had to use my GPS to determine which boxes to tee off of, many cart paths were blocked by downed branches and most tee boxes were overgrown. That said, I enjoyed the course and will play it again. I live in Dallas but have been spending weekends in Houston and have been amazed by the lack of activity on several of the courses, Glenbrook, Brock Park and Gus Wortham in particular, You can hardly get on a public course in the DFW Metroplex and I have walked on all of these courses on a Saturday morning with no issues and have yet to wait for a tee time. Not sure I understand......

Not in the best area, not perfectly maintained, but the layout is a lot of fun. The staff wont be very helpful but its cheap and fun. Some reviews say its a long course, but I disagree. It really plays anywhere from 6400-6900 yds. It may seem long for some because there are bayous that you have to hit over on a number of holes. It looks like a long way over, but the measurements arent very long. It makes you think about when to go for it or when to lay up. Bring a Skycaddie and youll like it even more. Anyway, I do play some nice, more expendive golf courses in the Houston area, but when I feel like a fun, cheap and not too difficult course, Glenbrook is where I go. Also, theyve made a number of changes to holes and its better maintained now. Give it a try.

I played this golf course 5 times in 2015 and each time the course conditions worsened. The management didnt do anything to maintain it. In October of 2015 I vowed to never go back it was that bad, even for the $10 golfnow hot deal. Well, about 3 weeks afobi read an article that said the city had taken it over and was in the process of renovating it. Then about 2 weeks ago I read a review where someone said the couse had taken a turn for the better and I decided to check it out. Im glad I did. The course was in great shape. The fairways were cut, the bunkers had sand, and the greens were in really good shape. Im glad to see that Glenbrook has been revitalized. I will definitely be playing there often.
