Met some friends here Sunday afternoon. There was a wait for lanes which was fine (5 people ahead of us). After 1.5 hrs of waiting we saw groups leave lanes and the lanes sit empty. A person from our group went and asked about the wait and the lady at the front desk snipped back at them, "we will call you when its your turn." I had to interact with the lady when the bartender told me the lady at the front desk controls the TVs at the bar. Front desk lady said no, and the bartender doesnt know what hes talking about. I then had to proceed to interrogate her before she revealed the manager controls the TV. Her general demeanor was such that she could not be bothered because there was way to much going on. There was no one at the front desk. I was able to get a manager after 10-15 minutes. She seemed mildly concerned about the front desk lady. The group ordered food. They said that it was good. It looked good. I did not eat. The brick oven pizza looked interesting. They had a decent beer offering. I left after the 1.5 hours since we didnt get a lane and it didnt look like we were going to get one. There were 4 or 5 open lanes when I left. Not sure how long it took the rest of them to get a lane.

No stars! This place has horrible costumer service. We arrived at 7:00 to bowl, they said it was a 40 minute wait so we went to the bar to get something to eat. The bartender while nice took about 25 mins after our food came to give us plates and napkins, we tried to get her attention several times but she looked over us. Around 8:50 I went to see how much longer our wait would be, the girl asked what number buzzer we were and said that it would be another 30 minutes. At 9:30 we went back up this time to give back their buzzer because its absolutely ridiculous that we have been waiting since 7:00, a guy who was now up there tried to say that they had been buzzing us for a long time (which was a lie and he got caught in that lie) I said no thats not true because I came up here 40 mins ago and was told another 30 mins. He then looked at the girl and stumbled over his words and said oh well your buzzer is defective.... I will never to here again.

Showed up on a Saturday and it was busy and was told it would be an hour wait which was understandable. Went to bar to wait, hour passes and we get a lane. We play one game and order some drinks and some other friends come and we play another game. We all ordered food and drinks and spent a lot of money in there for someone on staff to approach us and say we have to leave cause someone else needs that lane. I was confused because we were planning to play again. We gather our things and decide to hang around for a hour at the bar and playing air hockey and no one even got on the lane we were using. it felt disrespectful. I did enjoy the time I got to spend there and thats the only reason I chose to do 3 stars.

South Bowl it is not just bowling alley. Its a great experience for your family, teens, and depending on the time couples and groups of adults. It has several bowling alleys, pool tables, video games as well as upstairs where theres a lounge and bowling alleys. You can have a private party upstairs. They offer variety of foods even for vegetarians, several full size bars and happy hour. The food and drinks are delicious. Some of the food and drinks are named after the South Philadelphia area.Theres a diverse group of people who are friendly and interact with one another. South bowl with a great place to go for entertainment

Not a good experience at all. The helpful guy at the door stopped us on our way in to tell us they close down certain parts early in the summer. Why is that not on the website? We decided to go to the bar because it was that or play games. The bartender came over after finishing her personal conversation that lasted about 5 min. By this time I was ready to go elsewhere but we stayed and ordered a drink. I didnt drink my drink because they were cleaning and breaking down the bar as we sat there. Dirty water splashed on me at least 3 times before I said Im done lets go.

Excellent food from the kitchen. The menu really stands out as a real dining place, not bowling alley food at all. The full bar is reasonably priced with a rooftop bar that is open on weekends. A lot of space and room for bowling. They have bowling tournaments you can sign up for too! A couple of pool tables and arcade games for $1 or quarters are fun too if bowling is not your thing. Honestly, you can just come here with groups of family or friends. Just eat and drink or hang out and play a few cheap games during happy hour.

We hosted our wedding in the upstairs lounge at South Bowl and it was simply wonderful! The event day staff were so cheerful, helpful and professional. The preparations for the big day were an ease, thanks to the Sales & Events Manager. The South Bowl staff took care of details that I wouldnt have even thought of and made use of the space in a way that was so adaptive and perfect for our event. I can do nothing be sing the praises of the South Bowl facility and staff!

Every bowling alley serves alcohol; Ive never been to or heard of one that becomes 21 and up at 9 pm. If thats your policy, fine, but make it EASY TO SEE on your website instead of buried in the fine print on a side page because its not a normal thing. The attitude of the staff added insult to injury. We wasted $35 on uber fare and had an extremely disappointing saturday night. Party of 6 with a 20 year old. Thanks for nothing.

Interesting place. You expect it to be as annoying as Lucky Strike but its not! Youre allowed to hang out with your whole group even if youre not bowling, there are wonderful servers walking around, and you cant beat the happy hour prices. Ample parking around, too! One star off for the confusing interface of the bowling lineup setup, but we might have just been dumb.

At every turn this place blew it. Bar service was terrible. Our check was wrong. The bartender was overwhelmed with a small crowd. The manager seemed to truly hate his job. Bowling is cash only! Yet they needed a card to hold our lane. When we finally make it to the lane it malfunctions. I LOVE north bowl but they are blowing it down south. Pun intended

A solid place to get some cocktails and tater tots. I am not much of a bowler but I would imagine they serve up an above standard bowling experience. The place is clean and classy. Shoot some pool or play a couple pinball machines. Not a fan of all the televised sports... but its South Philly and these folks love their games.

They have rude staff and poor customer service. I asked about their availability on the phone 5 days in advance, but found out the day of that there was a private party renting the entire place! I would have liked to have stepped foot in the place, but my experience was ruined before I even had the chance to go.
