A huge thank you is owed to Janet and her team at Hotel Monaco for an absolutely perfect reception! From the start, all of our interactions have been exceptional. Janet hosted my now-husband and I for our initial meeting and we instantly fell in love with the hotel and the ballroom. Janet has been in the business for awhile and helped us novices navigate wedding planning (she even helped us select our rehearsal dinner venue). She gave a full list of preferred vendors, all of which turned out to be amazing! We used the Girard room for the cocktail hour and the Lafayette Ballroom (across the hall) for the reception dinner, all are located on the ground floor and were convenient for guests, the majority of which stayed at the hotel. The ballroom is absolutely stunning, with beautiful banquet chairs and decor. You don’t need to purchase or rent your own linens or dancefloor or tables! In addition, the food is divine. Philip and I had such fun at the tasting with Janet and Bernardo (our server) and fell in love with every dish that was served. Everything tasted even better on our actual wedding day and my husband and I were spoiled with our own server who made sure I had a drink in my hand the entire night! Hotel Monaco made everything so easy for us because everything was taken care of for us - including a day-of coordinator, which allowed myself and my friends and family enjoy the day with no responsibilities. In addition, when the bridal party was stranded in the limo because of a crazy thunderstorm, the staff at Hotel Monaco formed an umbrella tunnel for the bridal party to enter through. These little details, as well as the grand-scale coordination, are what makes Hotel Monaco so special. Best wedding ever!

Very disappointed and will definitely not stay here again! The room was very small and had a view of an internal building wall. You will have only a bath wash and a shampoo (no conditioner and no lotion). If you are one of those people that like to make themselves a cup of coffee in the morning while getting ready to leave their hotel room, dont think that you will be sticking with your routine in this hotel: there is no coffee or tea in the rooms. And the "complimentary" coffee and tea (only very early in the morning) at the reception area will not offer you decaf coffee option. We travel a lot and always stay in 4/5 star hotel, as there are certain comfort that comes in those hotels that you cannot find everywhere, but in Monaco we didnt find that and that is unacceptable for a 4.5 star hotel! We decided to go to the rooftop bar for a night drink but we were stopped at the entrance to the bar, not allowed in, and directed to go downstairs and get outside of the hotel to wait in order to get up to the bar! Unbelievable how a hotel that costs $350 per night cannot give you access to its facilities! But the highlight of our disappointment was the stolen sweater and a scarf from the room. And after we called to speak with a manager, they called us back to tell us that "they found the jacket but unfortunately they couldnt find the sweater and the scarf". Shocking for a highly rated hotel! Be careful with your belongings and dont leave anything valuable in the room! If housekeeping is willing to steal a simple cardigan sweater and a scarf, I can only imagine what would happen if there is a more valuable item left.

This is a beautiful hotel. The front desk staff is very friendly and it has a funky decor. The location is great - so close to lots of the main sightseeing spots in Philadelphia. The bed was unbelievably comfortable and we had a great view of the river. The website says you have to be Kimpton Rewards Member to get free wifi, so I joined, however neither of us were prompted for any sort of password and had free wifi. Being a rewards member also got us $10 toward the mini bar, which is equivalent to one beer. Still, free beer! The restaurant attached to the hotel is also fantastic and worth checking out. They have a free cocktail hour shortly after check in with all sorts of liquor, wine and sodas, but we missed it so I cant comment on that, but I believe you are limited to one drink, so dont go thinking its like an open bar. A few things bothered me about our stay. One, we actually had a gift certificate to use for our stay. Despite the fact that the gift giver had paid for this gift certificate almost a year ago, we were told we could not get the prepaid rate, but the higher room rate because it "wasnt paid for yet". We also had some confusion about the gift card upon our arrival, which caused my credit card to be charged instead, but it was quickly taken care of when I called. The room itself was very nice, but the toilet is literally three feet from the right side of the bed. Im not sure why the room was laid out this way, but its kind of strange and could be awkward. We checked in, wandered around and came back to find a crib in our room. We found a hotel employee in the hall way and they removed the crib.

What a treat! What a great treat. This hotel is modern, the decor is eclectic and the staff was first rate. They called to ensure I had all that I needed. When there had been a delay in checking in and a problem with my room key, they rectified the problem as soon as possible (once the internet was working again), they then graciously sent a gift with a hand written card of apology. This hotel was opened 5 years ago and provides spacious accommodations with spectacular decor. You are NOT stuck in a cramped room with a small bathroom. All the amenities were there (with the exception of an in-room coffee machine). That being said, there was freshly brewed coffee or tea available in the stylish lobby every morning. If you are thirsty throughout the day, there is always flavoured ice water (strawberry & mint or cucumber) and iced tea. Maybe you need a light libation around 5 pm? No problem, most nights there was a complementary happy hour of wine or non-alcoholic punch. The lobby has long sofas and seating areas that you can linger at and enjoy. The hotel is conveniently located directly across from the Liberty Bell Centre and Independence Hall, down the street from Independence Visitors Centre and beside The Bourse (a large food court). You are a few blocks from Carpenters Hall, the brand new Museum of the American Revolution, The Second Bank of US (and Portrait Gallery) to name a few. Great location, large comfortable rooms and a winning staff! You cannot go wrong with the Kimpton Hotel Monaco.

My sister had her after wedding brunch planned here... she had reserved the upstairs back portion of the restaurant, had a whole special menu planned, the works. Our reservation was booked for 11:30. When we all arrived, they told us the room was not ready yet. So we waited. And waited. And waited some more. We waited for over an hour. Long story short, the restaurant had decided to seat a table in the area that my sister had reserved. They told us they figured the people would have cleared out by the time her party started. When those patrons decided to sit and chat for a few hours after their meal, the restaurants solution was to just have us stand around like hungover, tired, hungry idiots for an hour while the people who had our table sat and chatted. A few of our party had small children with them, and any parent could tell you that even the best behaved child has trouble standing around for a hour. I mean Cmon! Its not liked we walked in off the street and had to wait for a seat. This was a planned party, with a specific part of the restaurant reserved. If you are even thinking of staying here or planning something for your wedding here, please be warned. The way we were treated was unacceptable and I am writing this review to specifically warn other brides about booking here. I feel it is highly inappropriate to deliver this kind of experience to anyone, let alone a bride on her wedding day. We will not be back.
