The bar has really gone downhill. Used to love it, now the place is literally falling apart. Chairs are broken, seats and cushions are torn open, the whole place is dirty, and Ive even been served a drink in a broken glass. I see reviews mentioning their food menu, but they definitely dont serve food anymore, just a limited number of cookbook martinis. A number of times Ive tried to go to this bar during their normal, posted hours of operation, theyve been closed. Ive noticed a huge drop in customers lately, Im assuming some nights they just call it quits early if there isnt much of a turnout, so dont be surprised if its closed when you get there. The last 2 times Ive gone there, the bouncer thought it was necessary to call me a homophobic slur and sexually harass my girlfriend, and he still works there. Both times it happened, I complained to the manager, which resulted only in me and my girlfriend being given horrible service in revenge or something. The rest of the night, I was ignored by bar staff (when the bar wasnt even busy), had my songs skipped on the jukebox, and when I did finally get a drink, I legitimately watched the bartender open a bottle of water and pour half of it in my drink. I used to be ok with the overly-expensive drinks, obnoxious music, and limited space, but with the way the staff behave now, theres absolutely no reason to stop here anymore when there are all-around better bars on the same block.

Staff is inattentive and rude, will rip you off right in front of you. I watched my bartender pour a newly opened water bottle into my martini, and then try to tell me its vodka. First off, nobody would pour that much straight vodka into a martini to top it off, and vodka doesnt make your drink taste watered down, nor does vodka come in plastic bottles. Manager didnt care, he assured me it was vodka, but wasnt willing to actually show me the bottle they used. The DJs are obnoxiously loud and completely unnecessary. Theyre trying to turn it into a nightclub or something, but its just not working. And the last time I went there, a fight broke out and the bouncer just stood by the door and watched, while customers tried to break it up. This bar is far from being "classy" and "upscale", its trashy and apparently isnt doing to well financially since the manager encourages and supports ripping off customers and using cheap gimmicks like obnoxious techno music DJs.

I have been to World many times and each time there seems to be something new and exciting going on from their all night kitchen with delicuious comfort food to their new state of the art juke box where customers control the music played versus a dj playing a set format without any flexibility. World is on par or in many cases below what other establishments charge for drinks and their staff is freindly and knowledgeable. I never had a poor made drink here and if I wanted a custom cocktail they have always exceeded my expectations despite the previous review. World is a great place to stop by after work, to hold social gatherings at and enjoying various theme parties held year round. If your thinking about a new place to try without all the hassles, (cover charges, aggresive crowds, etc.) I highly recommend World as I am looking forward to my next visit soon again.

I think they closed up again, they havent been open the past times I tried going there. They closed up for a few years not too long ago, recently reopened, and it looks like they might have closed again for good. Otherwise, theyre nothing special. Very expensive martinis (like $20-$30+) that dont have as much alcohol as they should, rude and inattentive staff that spend most of the time on their phones or in the managers office doing who knows what, annoying DJs blasting techno dance music, and its usually a dead scene except on holidays and special events.

Ive been here a few times, and while I enjoy going to a fancier bar, I find this bar to be a bit presumptuous. Some of the bartenders dont know how to mix drinks. I asked for a certain tequila on the rocks, they were very stingy with the tequila and then charged me $11, mind you this bottle costs less than $25 in the liquor store. I dont recommend this place, Syracuse may be in short supply of martini bars, but this one goes on my overpriced and overrated list.

This place rips people off. I charged two drinks to my credit card which ended up costing me $12 all together. I did not leave a tip. However the bartender took it upon herself to write a $5 tip into my recipe later, and charged it to my card. Not cool people. Watch those waitresses. They will literally rob you.

Good drinks, good music, has outdoor seating when weather is nice. Place has a European/urban vibe. Owner is Armenian I believe, and hence rightly the atmosphere reminds me of the Eastern European neighborhood I grew up in NYC.

Staff is friendly (theyve hired some new people), martinis are very good...would definitely recommend going on a Friday or Saturday night when their DJs play the best dance music.
