Since last year this center, under the new management, has improved very much. It appears that frequent lock thefts, including from the secured safes, have been reduced or eliminated. The place is also much cleaner and the new staff servicing center much more polite and helpful. However, why the city was waiting for months and years instead of making personal changes in the management of the center when from all the criticism was obvious that the previous management was either not willing or able to manage this great facility. The pool is great, however again why the city was waiting for months with the ceiling walls repairs and let them to deteriorate so much that now the pool must be closed for 3 weeks (until 20 Sept.). Hopefully, the repairs will be performed professionally (instead of spreading spider nets below the affected area). This, maybe the best NYC center, should be under the NYC permanent observation to prevent the previous problems to reappear.

The Summer Camp program This is my daughters second summer at this camp. Hands down is it a great and affordable camp, she loves it!! The summer program is lead by Ed Aguste who is incredibly professional polite and caring. The rest of the staff is exactly the same. They are all very courteous and super patient with all the kids. They keep the parents informed and the kid busy. The camp has regular hours and extended hours and a huge nice clean indoor pool. When I pick my daughter up she is exhausted from all the fun indoor and outdoor activities. The facility itself is has security and it super clean and cool, perfect for the summer. All in all I am very happy with this camp, staff and facility. I highly recommend the camp staff and facility at 348 East 54street

I came here looking for recreation unfortunately those that are in management here clearly have no idea what that means. As unfortunate it feels what i have to say. Many of the negative reviews here can not properly explain how terrible this place is. One particular person a manager a small short bald man that is one of the most incompetent and rude people I have ever met. Several people attempted to speak to him in Spanish and he simply ignored them as they spoke I particularly didnt like the sarcastic tone he took with me when I asked him a question .That to me became the best reason never to come back here again.

Le pregunte a un manager si hablaba Espanol con el fin de aclarar algunas dudas que tenia. El era un hombre muy bajito. Cuando comence a hablar con el en espanol era obvio que el hombre no hablaba espanol en absoluto. Por que perder el tiempo mio? Por que fingir? Horrible servicio al los clientes.

I came here with a guest pass a friend got for me. I wanted to see what they had to offer gym wise. He kept telling me the price is the lowest in the city. I can see why now. That morning the staff at the front desk was very rude and indifferent as I asked questions about programs they offered. When I spoke to management I was met with that same indifference. Talk about people hating their jobs. Only positive thing I can say is that the place appeared clean and thats about it. Horrible costumer service. Ill Pass.

I accompany my friend here from time to time after our jogs in the morning. The staff is very rude and for some reason the elevator always smells of urine. When my friend approaches management due to equipment failure. The issue lingers for weeks/months before its resolved. I think the only reason she continues to go here is because of a decent kids program.Take the hit and save up for a better gym. Planet Fitness,Blinks or anything else. Trust me, you will be glad you did.

Its missing something. The place needs more activities to stimulate the minds of the younger crowds. There is a shared space for wiffle ball, basketball, building blocks and arts and crafts is on another floor. Arts and crafts needs some more structure and more supplies for kids and young adults.

Weight room good equipment, 4 treadmills, small bball court with track above with some cardio machines on it, gender lockers good sized pool shaped like a Tetris piece though lmao need swimming cap to get in, and need strong lock to get in building.

We attended a free paint session. All materials were provided and I now have a great NYC souvenir that I made myself! NYC residents are lucky to have such a great center. The pool looks wonderful as well.

Historic recreation center with pool and jogging track Dated weight room and locker rooms. Nice running track over court. You can jog as you watch games. Elliptical equipment could use an upgrade.

my experience in this was so-so i almost got into a fight with other people in there the sercuity guard is always harassing me and alot of tough guys in there like to pick on people so it rated 1

Big swimming pool but some areas were temporarily closed due to construction. Need to sign up for at least 6 months membership to use the facility. Free for everyone under 18.

Unfortunately very humid, hot as if an aquatic mausoleum. The caretakers there are alternately listless or just looking to make trouble.

The pool is in the basement and there isnt an elevator but its not crowded and its nice and deep
