This review s for Golf Only - the only thing stopping me from rating the service as Poor-Fair is the fact that I play here often, and havent quite experienced anything as I am about to post. I had a 918a a couple of Sats ago - a 3 some booked. My group arrived early / on time, checked in, paid, loaded up our carts, and got online at the tee box. We were actually pleasantly surprised we were going to go off relatively on time - prob around 930ish. The course seemed pretty open on this day. Then all of a sudden, we were asked to hold as were were preparing to get on the tee box, and that a foursome was going out in front of us - a 3 some. And this foursome comprised of a couple - who apparently had the 910 tee time, but just arrived at the course, and the 932a twosome. The only reason why we knew this was because we were the only people in the pro shop at the time of check in, we heard a older women who works the par 3 challenges, mention to the front desk that she heard (she used names) was running late and on the way, and apparently had the 910a time. This message was relayed at 920a when we got checked in. And as we were walking out, we saw the other twosome that checked in for their 932a. I know when Ive been late for a time in the past, Ive never been placed at the tee box where I was supposed to be, but in the back of the line where the started/pro shop can get me in. But apparently since this couple knew people at the course, they got to skip in front and tee off in front of us. Forget they were late, and forget they know people, the fact a FOURSOME got placed in front of a THREESOME on the tee is ridiculous. We ended up teeing off at 945a (cause we had to ait for them to finish gearing up since they were late) and we finished close to 330p. Almost 6 hrs for no reason. And to top it off, these folks were playing slow all day - and ever giving us an opportunity to play through. And where are the rangers to help people along that are holding the course up?? I come to expect a few things when playing Dyker on the weekends - long front 9s, backed up 1st tees, but never having a late foursome thrown in front of a threesome. Thats just not right.

If you dont think that Dyker is going downhill fast, take a look at any of these points: They dont care about the golf- they know that the money is gauranteed because there are so few courses in NY. They only care about the catering hall! As a matter of fact they have kicked the public off the pattio and into a tent by the cart barn as to not be seen by the event attendees. They even removed the putting green to make room for a "wedding reception center". How about the fact that when you call the course you have to hit 4 to reach the pro shp. The course itself is already strting to dy out and its not even July. They just dont care. They also just hired a new managment staff. The GM - a guy who recently has started harrassing the customers and checking receipts and cart keys everytime you pass him has never even worked on a course before. HE IS NOW THE GM OF THE MOST PLAYED COURSE IN THE COUNTRY!!! The Assitant GM- a real beaut named marie was flipping burgers at Silver Lake last summer! Thats not even an exxageration. She was literally promoted by american golf from "over the hill snack server" to ""dumbest course manager in the history of courses". She is pitiful to deal with- not to mention look at. They have been rude to the people who have been coming there for years and do not care about how the course and its people who are part of our neighborhood and culture. They are a disgrace. Its very sad whats happeing there. They have turned a symbol of tradition and community into a rude mindless cash register. I say boycott them until they get new management.

Ive played at every course except for those in Staten Island, and Dyker Beach is my top pick. Van Cortlandt #2 (too bad some greens in shoddy shape), Douglaston #3 (would be #2 if a little easier to get to, a bit longer of a course. Dyker Beach is #1 because: 1.) Easily accessible - 1 hr ride from Union Square + short walk 2.) Greens are in great shape. Very similar to Split Rock / Pelham - good quality, consistent, and some real rolls on these greens 3.) Fairways / Rough in good shape. Nothing spectacular. 4.) Quicker round? I was told that this course generally plays faster than the rest of the city courses. Our round was 5+ hours, but Im told its normally 5 hours. 5.) Easily walkable. Unlike VC where you probably need a cart due to the distances between holes. The fairways are generally flat and often straight. Several holes have a steep incline just as you approach the greens. Bunkers are avoidable, but can be tricky given pin positions. If you miss left or right, you often are in a sparse line of trees separating fairways. The food at the turn was bad. $5 hot dog (small one). $3 gatorade. Too pricey, even for golf course food.

Recently had our wedding there. Everything was great except the fact that after youre locked into your party, youre forwarded on to an "event planner". The event planner sounds like a great idea if she actually helped rather than made our lives difficult and our process complex. Last minute, she told us we couldnt have the menu we agreed on, tried to push a more expensive menu on us by telling us it had more options. In the interim, her email correspondence was a disaster. Couldnt attach floorplan via email. This is 2017, come on! She texted us a picture of it (sloppy and in legible). Couldnt email us anything we asked for. Waited days for a reply from her. Doesnt return her voicemails. Never at her desk. Was turned back to the sales office to deal w someone else. How confusing. Everything turned out okay in the end but administrators should get a better system here. Dont bother trying to complain to a manager because there isnt one on-site or at least thats what I was told. Our maitred, food and staff on the day of was amazing.

Dyker Beach Golf Club is a hidden jewel of Brooklyn. Anne and I had our beautiful wedding here. We were catered to from start to finish. Our every single need was met by Carlo Lenzi and his friendly staff. From enjoying all their awesome rooms (with huge classic windows) nestled inside a beautiful Golf course to perfectly cooked Filet Mignon( by the chef Eddie who also was a pro). My cousin said it "melted in his mouth". Our guests had plenty of waiters catering wine and hors doeuvres during our cocktail hour, now months later I am still getting compliments on our wedding/service from some of our 100 guests. I also remember that the valet was available with plenty of parking. I have lived in Brooklyn all my life and there is not one hall here that matches this exquisite rich setting, the ballroom and great rooms elegance(freshness, paintings, decor) and great food. With their professional and very kind staff you will have the best time of your life!
