My first (and last) experience for this restaurant was not pleasant. We ordered Carry Out and chose "The Whole She-bang" for $36, which describes a sample of all of their BBQ and 4 sides. Usually when a meal is that expensive, its enough to feed a family...which is what we were trying to do (2 adults and a toddler). With that order and an appetizer of Deviled Eggs, the total came out to be $47. Not only do they have insufficient parking (none for carry out), but as soon as the food was brought home, I was displeased. The food was one to-go box of a few pieces of meat, and the sides are in 4oz sauce containers. About 3 bites. But we had also asked for one of the sides to be fries, and one was green beans. When youre spending $50 on food, (it also looks like regular bbq) you expect to get what you pay for (if they claim its that good). They instead of giving us the fries, that was for my daughter, they gave us double the order of green beans thats in both 8oz containers, vs the 4oz containers of the other sides. This food will only suffice for one person. I call Hendricks BBQ and Amber answers the phone, the one who took our order. I politely asked to speak with a supervisor, she asked my name, then grabbed a manager, Scott. I explain to him everything and to my surprise instead of sounding concerned, at one point inadvertently talks back to me. When I asked how hes going to accommodate me, he tells me that hell get me a free drink or take a couple of dollars off our next meal. I explained that a couple of dollars off wont do to which he replies that a messed up order of fries isnt enough to compensate $50. I told him that Im a first time customer and that Im very dissatisfied with not only the service, but with how management handles complaints. He told me hed call his manager and have her call me back. Needless to say, we got in our car and returned the food to be reimbursed completely. Even though we live down the street on 2nd, we drove 15 minutes and had a BBQ meal at Bandanas. What I got from Hendricks for $40, I was able to get for 12.99 at Bandanas. Our familys meal was only $40, and triple the amount we received at Hendricks BBQ. Hendricks will forever leave a bad taste in my mouth and I dont have any high expectations for their over-priced, bad serviced food. Its a shame that I think this business is such a failure bc it has potential for the location. Living near Main Street, I can say that all of the restaurants are great with the exception of Hendricks. And after reading some previous reviews, we are happy we didnt give their food a chance.

As soon as we walked in the door, there were two or three young ladies there to greet and seat us. They were too busy chatting to notice us at first, but eventually they did and we were seated. The table was dirty, so I went to the bar, picked up a hot wash cloth and cleaned our table. It was around 9pm on a weekend, but they were not too busy. After about 5 minutes, the waiter came over and explained that he had been busy with a bachelorette party and he wanted to make sure he gave them "extra" attention. We had not really noticed until he made the point that we were going to be a low priority. We ordered our meals and were disappointed there was only one decent Pale Ale to choose from(My wife is a Pale Ale snob). Plenty of IPAs and other beers. Decent Bourbon selection too. Our meals came in a reasonable amount of time. I had asked our server for utensils twice, but he was too busy with the girls, so I just hunted something down myself. I ordered the ribs, hush puppies and slaw. Our friend ordered the Nachos. My wife ordered the pulled pork. The ribs were ok, the slaw was very heavy on the black pepper(My friend and I liked it, the wife did not) and the hush puppies were greasy, burnt and tasteless(2 of the 3 of us did not like them). The Nachos were ok(all three of us agreed). The pulled pork was good. The sauces did nothing for me, but that is subjective. Overall, the food was ok, the kitchen was ok, it was a little dirty and the service sucked. We are usually really easy people to please and tend to overlook the small stuff because we are in business for ourselves and know how hard it is. The problem with this place, in my opinion, is a lack of management and leadership. The location has so much potential, but fails to deliver. It seems to be riding on the location and not really caring about repeat business. I doubt we will be back anytime soon.

A restaurant with mid-range pricing serving mid-ranged barbeque on the outskirts of historic St. Charles. My first impression of the restaurant is not of the restaurant itself, but the parking - like much of historic Main Street in St. Charles, the parking is in the back. However, the restaurant is on the second floor and the parking is down by what appears to be an old railway, giving you the impression that some horrible mistake has occurred when you finally do park. Maybe proper lighting would help, but theres a distinct disconnect between the lot and the restaurant. Ive been here three times and every time this bothers me, so here it is. The restaurant is airy, rustic and quite lovely. Everything is just so, from the signage to the menus. Ive never seen the place very busy, so the wait staff never seem to be in much of a hurry. This isnt a bad thing - theyre certainly friendly and personable. But the energy is certainly low key. The menu is expansive, but Ive focused on the barbeque, given that its in the name and Im in Saint Louis. I would describe everything, from the appetizers to the barbeque to the drinks as competent. If you like smoked meat and have had really great smoked meat, you will not be confusing Hendricks for that. The ribs are just a touch dry (really, most everything is) and a touch under-seasoned, and the sides tend to be hammered in butter, oil and cream. Nothing was a turn off, just not great. The whiskey/bourbon selection is fairly priced and respectable. The draft beer menu does represent several local brews (no strong endorsement there), with a wider selection on the bottles. Again, fairly priced. In short, Ive found Hendricks to be more convenient than memorable. Decent, slightly overpriced food in a nice environment thats never too busy. My three star review says, "Its okay" above, and that sounds about right.

I went there recently with my boyfriend. It was okay at first. But they took almost 30 mins to prepare a burger, fries and nachos. Meanwhile, this couple that came in that span not only ordered but got a tray of chicken, fresh green beans, and mashed potatoes. The server was sweet, or so I thought. Apparently, she was walking pass as my guy and I were in the middle of a random conversation and I said the word "disgusting" as I was eating my potato salad. She stopped and offered me another side dish but I politely declined and she walked away. My guy instantly became upset. He watched as this waitress walked over and probably told the other servers that I called their food disgusting. In reality, I was referring to my job. I work as a firefighter and Ive seen some odd, disgusting things. But that wasnt even the weird thing. As we were checking out, at least five servers stood at the far end of the bar, just staring at us. See, Im black and my boyfriend is white. I dont know if that had anything to do with it, but I just found it odd and kinda uncomfortable. The food was alright, definitely not worth the price though, nice looking restaurant, but I dont think Id come back.
