I rejoined the JCC Health Club after 16 years of absence. My disabled son Gily, who trained for the Special Olympics as a heavy lifter. I was thrilled with the new health club that really improved since 1994. The club had better equipment, was operated professionally, was clean and small enough so members felt more at home as opposed to the impersonal feeling I had in larger Health Clubs. Unfortunately, things started changing: The ladies locker room TV, Microwave oven and refrigerator needed replacement. It took long time to fix or replace, we still dont have a proper TV reception like the men do. All the recent communication to the management, had been totally ignored. I keep coming only once a week for Sababa dance class. I used to enjoy coming at least 3 times a week. The center wants to cut more services and hours: 1. Many members work, and cant come before evening hours, so closing at 9:00 pm will limit their activity and relaxing time. 2. Canceling the baby sitting service will limit many working parents from participating. 3. Limiting the pool hours, indoor and outdoor, is preposterous. On personal note, My son trained for 3 years, won 6 Olympic medals, state and national. After all that he had been restricted and limited as to what he could and couldnt do. People like Donna Hecht and Kevin came up with ridiculous excuses and restrictions. He currently trains at the Y. So much for taking pride in his achievements. Why have fitness center if members wont be able to acquire fitness? Why carry heavy weights if you cant use them appropriately? I am afraid that membership is going to shrink in great number should the management policy keep heading the way it is intended. Rina Bileski

What on earth does the 1star rating have anything to do with the St Louis Park Jewish Center? Im sorry but that should be removed... Im a neighborhood leader in St Louis Park, and I had heard that there was a workout facility at this center that was open to all, Jewish or non-Jewish- so I wanted to check this place out- I am also a Christian, so I kind of felt like an intruder :P but they were SO nice! (not that I expected they wouldnt be) I was told that the majority of those who attend this gym are Jewish, but anyone was still welcome. The gym had everything that the chain gyms had, and they even had a mens lounge with coffee, free wifi, flat screen TV, etc... I was very impressed! ... I a, debating switching out of lifetime fitness and over to this gym, although I still feel like I would be stepping on peoples toes by not being Jewish.. Who knows... None-the-less, I was impressed with the place. If only I could read Hebrew I might be able to understand more of the signage around the place :P

As a blond Christian, Ive always felt very comfortable working out here. The facilities are good, everyone is friendly, but my problem is with the scheduling of the classes. There is very little regularity to the scheduling of the same class. So I found one that I liked, but the only time I could attend (since I have to be at work three days a week) was mid-morning on Thursdays. One class a week is not enough. The schedules fit retired people best. Im 65 and not in the best of shape, but not the worst either. It was hard to find classes that were challenging enough but not overly challenging. They say theyre going to be making some changes in the class offerings in the coming months. I hope theyll take these comments into account. I like the massage services, but they too are on a very irregular schedule.

Excellent pilates (Angelas) yoga and zumba. Devoted senior teacher (Mary) Poor administrative problem resolution. Children and even newborns occasionally come to class even though day care always available. No BALLET barre like YWCA. JCC will always struggle with membership. No week free trial to check if club is right for you. All other clubs give free trial.

Went there to watch a play and it was a great experience. Everyone was friendly and they had the chairs right on the stage around the main area. We will be attending events there in the future. Thanks for a great experience.

Great staff, lots of classes, all the equipment youd find at a big gym without the impersonal feel of some bigger places.
