Through a long exploration of beer tasting to solidify my perfect beer, I finally found it at Kuhnhenn. Kuhnhenns DRIPA is by far the best beer Ive ever had. The rest of the world agrees since DRIPA holds the gold medal award from the World Beer Cup for best american IPA in the world for 2010 and 2012. Its so addicting that I have been taking extremely long work lunches to enjoy this golden perfection. Their beers are so good that I have been buying kegs of it for my home kegerator. As far as service goes, I have only been there in the early afternoon. My experience has been nothing but good. When I have a sip of beer left, I get asked if Id like another. If they are busy, which they always are, you just have to say "excuse me" or flag someone down and they come right over. I agree with the other reviewer that if someone is rude to you, there is a good chance you were rude to them. During one of my visits, they were in the middle of switching kegs for DRIPA and it was going to take 10-15 minutes to get back on tap so one of the crew offered to share his personal growler of DRIPA so we didnt have to wait. I am very passionate about beer and learning everything I can, so when I have questions, the crew and owners are always willing to take the time to give me answers. It seems as they have grown in popularity very quickly and I can clearly see the obvious strain with keeping up with the demand in all aspects. I was told that they are holding out for a perfect new second location to provide all their customers with their needs. A place like this is not about getting drunk or slamming beers. It is about enjoying brilliantly and passionately made beer, wine and mead. If you get bent out of shape for having to wait a few extra minutes to get a drink, you should probably be home drinking Budweiser.

I love Kuhnhenn Brewery for several reasons. The beer (not to mention the mead and wines) are all excellent. There is such a wonderful ambiance - they have that welcoming as another said "Cheers" type atmosphere. As a patron of the Kuhnhenn Brewery for almost 8 years now I have seen them grow and flourish! They have won many medals over the years and just recently won the GOLD for their DRIPA (World Beer Cup for best american IPA in the world)! That is one of my favorites to include, Loonie Kuhnie, Simcoe Silly and their newest IPA the Fluffer. But its really hard to pick a favorite as they are all so good! If you want to sample a dark beer thats on the sweeter side - the Creme Brulee Java Stout is outstanding! With that said, I noticed a few negative reviews about some of the staff. I am shocked because as long as Ive been going to Kuhnhenns they go out of their way to make sure everyone is happy! It is such an easygoing place that the owners are always taking time to talk to everyone and the staff in general treats the patrons as family. If there is ever a time where you feel youre not being served in a timely manner consider a couple of things. Put yourself in their shoes - maybe they are having a bad day, maybe its extremely busy, maybe try requesting a beer from another waiter/waitress and inquire about the situation. I know the staff and this is their goal to make sure the customer is happy - so if you inquire and have a concern they will do what they can to make sure you are satisfied with your service. The more you get to know the Kuhnhenns and staff the more you will see what a great place it is to be!

It shocks me some of the reviews stating this place is too expensive and overpriced. Where are you going to get such a wide selection of craft brews/meads that youre paying less? Honestly, the prices are VERY reasonable and the alcohol content is usually pretty high. I frequent this brewery often and have rarely ever spent over $30. If thats out of control, then youre cheap. The favorites are usually always available: Dripa, Luhnie Kuhnie, and White Devil. But the menu changes frequently AND they will always let you sample a beer for free. I have never had an issue with this. Ive even tried a handful before I make my decision. Yes, you can get a paddle of 5 different beers to try but those are FULL samples. If Im not sure Im going to like it, I ask for a simple taste and there is never any issue to get one for free. But I have rarely sampled a beer I didnt like. They dont really serve food (just sausage, cheese, and crackers) but they have different food trucks (for a great variety) come by often enough for very cheap and good eating. I will typically spend less than $10 on that food and be set. So in all, if Im really going at it, Ill spend maybe $40 in a night. This is about 5-6 beers (most of these beers are high alcohol content, some people may drink more, some less) AND food/tip. Again, if youre looking for cheap Bud Light, go to BDubs right down the street. Kuhnhenns is very reasonable for a night out! Very cool atmosphere and friendly staff.

My boyfriend and I are from Chicago. Its always a blast coming here. We make the 6/7 hr drive just for the beer. Its one of our absolute favorites. Besides the beer we love the hospitality from Evelyn. If it werent for her, seriously, we wouldnt ever come back. Why you ask? Newbies dont remember what we like! Nor do they know what is on the menu and have to ask other people. Oops. Sorry too forward. Anyway, cmon. Weve been coming for the past 10 years, 1/year, and EVERY TIME she remembers what we like and has it ready upon arrival. I let alone cant even remember what I did yesterday. #oldmoney If you ever come here please ask for Evelyn. You will not be disappointed. Shes the bubbliest gal here. Theres nothing like the dedicated long timers hospitality compared to the newbies. She is simply the best. (Im starting to sound like a infomercial, so Ill shut up, lol) WHOEVER IS THE OWNER OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT, I HOPE YOU READ THIS! GIVE THIS WOMAN A GDANG RAISE!!! We wouldnt be back if it werent for her, honestly. && Evelyn If you read this we love you so fricken much. With LOVE from Chi-town, Jen and Seth

If they made changes to their service then I didnt see it. Beer is top notch, one of the best in the state, but the service is horrible. Have been there multiple times and go back now and then for the beer, but each time the wait staff act like you are a nuisance to them. I heard the waitress complaining aloud after being deservedly snubbed on her tip from the people across the bar from me and I dont blame them after watching her interact. Have had the same issue at different times of day with a variety of different staff over the last year and a half and has never changed. If it wasnt for the beer (esp Creme Brule Java Stout) I would never step foot in there. Food is good snack food, wish they had more. Atmosphere would be great if the staff didnt bring the place down. Definitely agree with the catering to their regulars comment stated before. Brew Shop has good offerings and have become more helpful.
