Somewhat small, but free. This museum had a lot of entertaining and interesting exhibits to see! I wish I spent more time on the second floor which seemed to go on forever. In addition to the historical artifacts, much of the museum features artifacts highlighting Michigans history. The kids museum section was also impressive! There were plenty of interactive displays and a play area for kids of all ages to play. Story time and other activities were also scheduled. My son could have spent the entire day here if I let him. If youre a local and since this is free, its a no brainer to take advantage of the kids museum here!

My family and I absolutely love the museum here. And its free!!! It is probably my 3 year olds favorite place to go, and they always have interesting new exhibits every few months that helps shake things up a bit. Right now theyre doing a Lego exhibit and weve probably gone for that around 6 times already! But their regular exhibits are impressive themselves, its a really good place for kids (and adults, too) to go to learn something new in a fun and hands on way. They also have a room on the second floor for kids under 5 to learn and play that is filled with books and puzzles and toys and we really love that, as well.

There are many wonderful learning opportunities at the KVM for children. It has many high-quality exhibits that are designed for hands-on learning. I am particularly impressed with their newest permanent exhibit space about the history of Kalamazoo. I think an often overlooked activity is to take in a planetarium show. (Cost is $3 a person.) I have never been disappointed with these. The last time we went, the beginning of the show was an animation of the launch of Sputnik. There was a train carrying the rocket to the launch pad and it seemed like we were going to be run over by the train!

Used to be a great place. Now theres staff seemingly at every turn bossing around the patrons. Children under 5 only allowed in the kids area? Cmon! Ive been coming here for years and children up to 12 have a good time in there. And I have many children, but dont let the staff catch your children wandering out of your eyesight or you risk an embarassing confrontation. Very unreasonable for museum staff to attempt policing children whose parents are clearly nearby. And my partner and I watch the children very closely. This place has changed for the worse and I wont be going back.

I greatly enjoyed my visit to the Museum. I was thrilled to see a section on A. M. Todd. I had read much about him in historical accounts. I was saddened to hear of the companies sale to some European firm. The Todd company provided a market for mint growers in the area. Disease hit the mint here and Todd no longer bought mint from Michigan growers. I was looking however for information on the settlement years and the importance of Gull Road and Territorial Road . I didnt see any. I tire easily and didnt see everything. I hope to go back soon.

Great place to take children. It is free to get in and the exhibits change alot. There are lots of days with planned activities that are great to have kids enjoy. There is alot for adults to learn as well, history of Kalamazoo, the surrounding area, what life used to be like that is thrown in with the kids stuff. I go there a lot and have taken all ages of kids there.

My daughter and I had great time learning from the exhibits here. Great experience and it was free to get in. There are hands-on demos and plenty to read about. The cultural history of Kalamazoo is always a great exhibit to walk through. I would definitely recommend the Kalamazoo Valley Museum for anyone looking for a fun trip for younger children.

Wonderful place to bring your kids to learn! FREE to get in (you just pay if you want to see their special presentations they are offering at the time). So much for the kids (and adults) to see and do while youre there. Tons of hands-on exhibits and activities that are all free.

Free general entrance, which covers a lot of the museum. A good place to have a free adventure. Polite and helpful staff, if needed. Multiple levels of educational experiences that change throughout the year. I havent experienced any of the paid exhibits. Clean and relevant.

Local history and science presented in ways appealing to all ages. Check ahead for planetarium show times. Traveling exhibits are usually stellar, too. And its free. They have a lot of special hands on days to correspond with days off from school.

The kids are having a wonderful time. The current Lego exhibit is a lot of fun. Also, free admission always and free parking on Sundays. I am really impressed with the level of permanent exhibits for this small free to the public museum.

Free, hands on local indoor place for kids to explore. The Fear exhibition was their best third floor exhibit yet! Its so nice to pop in with kids when you have an hour or two. Best for younger kids in general though like 7 and under.

Wonderful place to take your kids if you havent been there before. They dont change much and its been pretty much the same for about 15 years to my knowledge but its still a great place to go and have some fun and learn some new stuff.

Free fun and local history for the whole family. Young kids hands on play area with lots to do and many interactive displays. The planetarium has a fee but its worth it, after the show, they will show you the current local sky.

A small museum that sure packs an educational punch! Admission is free for all, even the adults. Some if not most exhibits are oriented for children, so dont fret if you think your kid wont have a great time!

Brought my nephew here for a day out and he had a blast! He was so excited and there was so much to do. We spent almost 4 hours there before we had to leave and there were still things that he didnt get to do!

Great museum for the right price. Excellent exhibit on the second floor with the history of this area. The third floor had a dinosaur exhibit, which is a traveling exhibit, but really cool for the kids.

We go to the museum often. With free admission and tons of hands on exhibits you cant get much better. The staff is great and very friendly. The only downside is they dont have a gift shop or a cafe.
