This is a great place to spend the whole day with lots of activities for the kids. It has the Wizard of Oz-themed playground which is awesome for small and big kids alike. There is a small farm with animals that kids can feed but no petting is allowed. The park boasts of a miniature train, mini-putt and an antique carousel all for a minimal fee. Credit card and cash are accepted. There is no place to buy food inside the park so plan to pack lunch and/or snacks. Entrance and parking are free but it gets crowded on weekends. The reason why I only gave 4 stars is because the park restrooms could use a lot of improvements. The restrooms closest to the Wizard of Oz playground are not well-lit. Theyre not cleaned frequently either. Its upsetting as well to see trash everywhere. I know its not the parks fault but some people are just careless and drop their trash wherever they feel like it. I wish all parents would teach their kids to simply put their trash where they belong -- the trash can. There are plenty enough on the grounds.

I wanted to do a small birthday party in the grass near the playground for my sons first birthday. (I have done this before at other parks with no issue for my daughter) However I called the parks dept. as I was curious of the reservation costs of the nearby pavilions. Parks Dept told me I cannot do a picnic in the park, no tables, chairs, blankets anything in the grass because I might block the traffic of the park. Seeing as how there is plenty of grass around the park I dont see how I would block any traffic. They are just greedy and want you to shell out lots of cash to use a public space, just to have a small get together. They advised me to use the first come first serve tables literally a mile away from the park, which means I would jsut have a party at a picnic table, without a playground to play with my kids nearby. Might as well do it in a backyard if that is the case.

Watkins Park is a beautiful place to cook out and relax, until u have to use the restrooms/port-a-potties. On Saturdays, the hut where the restrooms are located are locked so you have to use the port-a-potties in the park, which looked like they had not been cleaned since last year. Feces was smeared on the seat and the bowl was filled with waste. Makes you wonder what kind of cleaning schedule the park have the potties on here, I would say none. Seems like the persons in charge, would have sense enough to for see that since the hut is locked that maybe we should at least clean the potties on Saturday mornings for our patrons/guest. It was so nasty that I was tempted to squat behind the pottie, but ended up getting in the car and drove to the Kentucky Fried Chicken, thats out of the park and at the end of the block.

This is a great place to bring your family and children. There are lots of things to do. The animal enclosures were great; we got to get up close to a lot of animals at the farm and I felt my kids had a better experience than the zoo, where most of the animals were hiding from the heat. They even had peacocks! I wish the train was working the day we went (last weekend) but the carousel was fun. My only complaint was that the main playground had ZERO shade and all the slides, particularly the metal ones, were hot enough to burn you. They were so hot, my toddlers were afraid to go down any of them. I would definitely recommend the park build some sort of shade/covering for the playground; this would also serve to keep the place dry on rainy days. And they could use more parking. Otherwise, we had a good time here.

This is one of my favorite local parks. There is stuff here for almost everyone from child to adult , including courts and fields for most commonly played sports. I have been coming here regularly for 23 years, and they are constantly updating and improving park facilities. Their latest playground update is Wizard of Oz themed and looks so fun that I actually want to go play on it (lol). There are also several good short hiking trails that are well marked and enjoyable to walk. They also put up a fantastic Christmas lights drive through attraction every year. Just come visit.

So much to do here. I currently have a 2-year-old and a 1-year-old they have a lot of opportunities here. They can ride the train, get on the carousel, and there are two playgrounds. There is also the chance to play mini-golf. You can visit the farm while youre there. There is also a Nature Center where they have other animals. The carousel, mini-golf, and train are $2.00 per person. At the farm there are machines to purchase feed for the chickens, peacocks, turkey, and ducks. While there be on the lookout for special events. Some are for the family while others are for older groups.

I have been enjoying this park for years. My daughter and I have many warm memories at this park. I also bring many of my families here for visits. Parents enjoy. spending quality time with their children, and the children enjoy the playground and other attractions at the park. Watkins Park at Christmas time is a much celebrated tradition for many of the local residents. For anyone considering a great and cost effective activity for the whole family will enjoy the atmosphere and spending time with the people you love the most...Family.

This was my familys first time here after I had heard so much about it. This place is magical...thats probably an understatement...but it really is! Between the playground itself, the nature center and the little petting farm, we spent most of the day there. Its a far drive for me but the children are already asking when we will go back (actually, they started asking before we had left the parking lot!). They also have a train and a carousel which were not open when we went so that is something to look forward to for next time!

Such a magical park! The imagination that went into the Wizard of Oz playground is astounding! With every detail, from flying monkeys to Totos doghouse to the Emerald City, even adults want to play here. The train ride through the woods was longer than expected and worth the ticket. The carousel was nice for hot days since its shaded. Next time we will try mini golf and hiking trails! Tip: pack a lunch and refreshments, they only have access to a vending machine and water fountain.

The high-interest Wizard of Oz themed playground is reason enough to visit this amazing location, but there is also mini golf, a carousel, and a very professional Nature Center and petting farm all within the same area. There are also miles of hiking trails, as well as RV and tent campsites. During the winter holiday, millions of lights showcase the park for a drive-through twinkling wonderland. In sum, this is a fabulous location with something for everybody.

It is a lovely place but the beautiful playground which features a "Wiz of Oz " theme is not safe for toddlers. The playground has dangerous drops with no railing. In addition to that a attractive rainbow trail that leads followers into harms way of being possibly kicked by swinging children having fun. So if you go be alert and stay safe and possibly go with another adult to help you keep an extra eye on small children.
