It is not like you expect too much of a night sort of club place around here, which would be an OK place, if it was not for the pathetic security guys that you see first before you enter… They wish they were the center of the universe and so in the meantime, which they have plenty, they make derogatory remarks and jokes about the entering customers. They used not to allow people in shorts, now they do, because this is half of the customers, yet anyways, listen further: I hope this will catch attention of the owners/ managers of these soma/ highdive places: when I have paid the entrance fee on June 30, 2007, and said to one of the security guys that his remarks were inappropriate, - next thing, they do not let me in, nor they return the entrance charge, and they even tried to mock me as there were no other customers around by the entrance at the moment. I do not think I should bother my lawyer for whatever I can charge the place, because I do not have time on weekdays and would not trash my weekends for that either. I just feel I need to tell you folks my little story… how pathetically I lost five bucks and got embarrassed a bit. Not the greatest loss or embarrassment in this life these are, but still you do not want to share them with those guys.

One of the security guys and a bouncer forced a friend of mine to chug his drink and put his hands on both of us at closing time. I think they need to do something about the staff in there because is very irresponsible from them to keep selling alcohol if they are close to closing time and later force you to chug your drink, put their hands on you(which they have no right to if you havent touch them at any point ) and push you out the door. This people should be fired and Im going to make sure they do. This happened Saturday nigh 5/20/17 oh and needles to say we asked for their names and ID numbers which they denied to us but I remember both of them, white males, about 6 ft tall one of them had a beard (I believe he was security )

Atmosphere is very classy. Keep in mind that most of the patrons aren;t college students, so the clientele there is better dressed and better well-behaved than other bars in town. The music played there is also varied and much better than other places on campus. The last time I went was on a thursday night, and the DJ has spinning a House set. Would definitely recommend.

I would have given this place zero stars if it was possible. If you are looking to get sexually harassed, get sucker punched, and then held back security this is the place for you. Also if you want to discover a $600 tab after paying to have $1 drinks then again this is the place to go. If this does not sound like a good time AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Its nice to have a dance club in Champaign, but Soma can be a bit loud and crowded sometimes, particularly because the dance floor is actually pretty small. They do have a nice selection of alcohol (like some nice whiskeys) which are sometimes missing at other bars.

Oh Soma. I wish I could give you a better rating, but you just dont deserve it. Downtown location for dancing though, so... Ill give you a 3.

Its small, but so is Champaign. They charged me $30 for a shot. Ridiculous. Whaaaat? GTFOH.
