We visited Wynwood at a restaurant in Feb. 2016 to celebrate a birthday. We visited again Jan. 1, 2017 to spend the day walking the neighborhood. The Wynwood Walls park has many new paintings we did not see last year as well as many more works of art in other streets nearby. If you have time to spend 1-3 hours walking, enjoying, photographing the art work and finding time to relax in one of the many restaurants, cafes, coffee bars, its a wonderful way to spend a memorable afternoon without admission to see artwork. Furthermore on your cable tv on demand provider, search for "Streets of Wynwood", a documentary on the PBS channel (no commercials) produced late last year to orient yourself and learn about the many artists whom arrive there to find a vacant wall and paint. I must mention the very talented Brazilian man known and Kobra, the Puerto Rican Alex and especially Faith47 from South African whose work imho is some of the best art work on huge walls. She reminds me of Salvador Dali in her compositions but without the color selections of Dali. See a couple of her works I attached as photos. If you enjoy art work whether its at a museum or outdoors by young, highly talented painters, you must visit Wynwood while in Miami. We have to thank the grafitti painters whom tagged their unique identity on New York City subway trains who started this movement of artistic and social expressions in color.

Easily one of the most instagrammed places in Miami, Wynwood Walls is the brainchild of developer Tony Goldman, who was key in the neighborhoods transformation from a forgotten industrial zone into a hipster paradise. The industrial buildings here, many of which lack windows, made the perfect canvas for Goldman to bring in what reads like a whos who of graffiti artists, including Shepard Fairey, Ron English, Jeff Soto, Os Gemeos, and Barry McGee to paint major large-scale murals. Though Goldman has since passed away, his wife and children bring new artists to the project every year, breathing fresh life into his colorful legacy. While the best way to experience these pieces is simply to walk around the neighborhood, street art nerds may want to book a tour, as they dig into the specifics behind some of the major pieces.

I remember when the Wynwood area was a place you avoided…even during daylight. I was happy to see the area being “artistically reinvigorated” (alright, let’s be honest, “gentrified” is the correct term). Since hearing about the Wynwood Walls I have been wanting to visit and check out these ever-changing murals. I thought it was an open artistic space, but instead it is a walled/gated area with security guards. Takes a bit away from the bohemiam savoir faire, but I get it. There are actually more than just the “Walls”, there are also “Doors” on display as well. I loved visiting here because it was really like an open air museum and along with all the murals there were neat little structures and sculptures. I also enjoyed that just outside the enclosed Wynwood Walls space there were a plethora of other murals to explore down the alley ways and along the side streets. The entire area is an urban art lovers mecca! Aside from the walls, there are some great little shops, cafes, and the Wynwood Diner to check out when you have had your artistic fill.

Whats a girl to do in miami to entertain herself all alone for the day? go to south beach? ...that was the original intent but it was a cold overcast winter day and that area was dead and unappealing. then i got the tip to check out Wynwood - the fantastic art district full of public art and galleries. As an artist myself, this was a no brainer. I was dropped off in front of the Wynwood walls entrance - which is an enclosed courtyard full of amazing wall art created by various artists and constantly on rotation - man...which a shame to just paint over some of these. I strolled around, took a great selfie (of course) and just admired all the insane talent. this is definitely a place to check out if in the area and a really special attribute of miami.

This place deserves more than 5 stars because it provides an amazing experience for art lovers - old and new - with every corner offering something astonishing. I truly enjoyed my time at Wynwood Walls during Art Basel a few weeks ago. The project itself is absolute gorgeous attracting people from all over the world and inviting internationally renown artists to contribute their gift to the public. What an amazing idea and project! Highly recommend to walk around and get lost. Artist plaques are featured on the walls lower left/right hand side so be sure to look for them if youre wondering who panted the mural. Huge success and I cannot wait for what Wynwood Walls has to offer for Art Basel 2016!

My husband and I absolutely love Wynwood and visit everytime we are in Miami. From the amazing art that covers every building, wall, and sidewalk to the delicious food options, this place cannot be beat. Centered in an old warehouse district, it has become huge in the art scene. Art of all types is displayed on every surface for blocks around. Grab a cold brew at Panther Coffee (best coffee in Miami!) and stroll around to experience the amazing art. There are so many great eateries in the area that you really must stop for a bite to eat! Wynwood Walls, where it all started, is also a must. The art is every evolving and changing, so each visit is a new adventure!

We found out about about Wynwood Walls and the Wynwood art district from our waiter at breakfast one morning and boy are we glad we did. These murals are some of the most highly detailed and impressively executed of any street art Ive seen. Even more impressive is the way the whole neighborhood has embraced the beauty of this artistic style and it has spread all across the neighborhood for blocks and blocks in every direction. You could easily spend hours wandering through the area and never see everything there is to see. Of course with all the excellent bars and restaurants in the area you may want to do just that.

I just visited for the first time and had an absolute blast taking photos and walking the streets! I would recommend driving down the main drag before parking because it can be a little confusing to get oriented if you park a couple blocks out and walk there. I definitely got sketched out and wondered if I was in the right place before I hit a swath of über hipster taco cafes and art galleries that made me realize I was there and that it was safe enough to walk around. Plan on giving yourself at least an hour to explore the surrounding area and search out hidden gems. Fun and free activity!

Amazing quiet place with murals, art galleries, restaurants and shops. If you are into art, this is the place to be. Many artists have their studios/shops here where you can observe them making art. Most of the art created is avalable for purchase. Paintings, pictures, sculptures, clothes, accessories, books, guitars and cars....you name it, everything is there. Miami’s free Trolley buses come there every 15 minutes adding extra convenience to art loving visitors. Everyone should visit this place at least one time. Those who have interest in art will become regular visitors.
