When my boyfriend and I were looking for a bowling alley to join a league, we chose this one because of how clean and new it looked on the inside, despite living 10 mins away from the one in East Haven. It was a huge mistake for multiple reasons. Although there is a sign on the door saying no food or drink was allowed, many of the league members brought in Dunkin Donuts anyway. I always followed the rules and when driving out to Wallingford to practice, we always got a soda and sometimes would get some snacks. However one day I had to work a double at work without breaks before our league and I didnt even have time to change, but I was in the mood for a breakfast sandwich from Dunkin Donuts so we stopped on the way there and I brought it inside. I was embarrassed by the husky member of management in front of the entire league of people I didnt know yet and I didnt have the heart to tell him that his bowling food gave me gas. If there was ever an attendant there in the first place. I understand that whoever runs the food section probably has other responsibilities, but there were multiple times that I would miss the entire ten minute practice just trying to get a soda. Perhaps this bowling alley can invest in a bell? Or maybe a soda fountain and you can buy a cup at the first desk? No wonder no one ever ate at the snack bar. Lastly, my boyfriend and I were beginners and we would take advantage of the great deals on Sunday or Tuesday nights to bowl unlimited for a certain amount of hours for a flat rate to get better. Unfortunately, Debbie at the desk tended to play favorites. I have no idea what I ever did to offend her, but she had the tendency to put loud, obnoxious groups (who, to their credit, were just having fun) directly next to us. Not two lanes over. Sometimes not even in the next lane, but using the same ball return. And when other groups came in, she would place them three or four lanes away from everyone else. I wish this was some kind of exaggeration, but unfortunately its not. We stopped going even before the league ended because I was tired of the poor treatment I received from the staff. We switched over to the other Wallingford bowling alley (Wallingford Bowl), who are always nice to us and Ive literally never had a problem.

We had our sons 6th birthday party at this bowling alley. It really went so well and the staff has always been kind to us, answering our questions during the time of booking. Even the online representatives were so helpful explaining the options we have. We had 29 parents RSVPed for the party but 26 kids showed up along with 1 parent for each kid. We were so nervous if we will be able to do it ourselves with out a host and we decided to hire a host. On the day of the party everyone at the front desk, host and the kitchen cook really attended to us so well. Our host is the manager of the bowling alley Mr.Ryan Conway. Ryan is continuously on his feet all along the 2 hours we are there and continuously took care of us. All the guests that came to the party had expressed a very good opinion about the party. The food is great and served ontime for the kids. The food was so full for the kids as they had chicken tenders, pizza and french fries. In other bowling alleys they would not let you bowl after your start eating but here kids bowled, after eating they again went to bowling. So they got full 2 hours of bowling. The only disappointment is we did not get the signatures on the signable bowl which everyone tend to forget. It would have been so nice for my son as a memory if we got that done as well. But other than that everything went so well and we definitely consider another birthday party here. The party went with so much fun though there is a huge crowd with all little kids, of course all the kids are well behaved as per the manager Mr. Ryan Conway. Kids had a great time. All the kids are ready for a second round of bowling as they did receive a free pass for 1 game from the Bowling Alley. So we felt we got the worth of the money we spent for this party.

I loved Brunswick Colony Lanes because they are very modern. I decided to throw my sons birthday party there....big mistake. Online they say that there is a "party hero" for EACH party, but there was ONE party hero for all THREE parties. Every time I needed something I had to go hunt him down. When we were ready to bowl (everyone had their shoes and at the lane with names in and everything) 1 out of 2 lanes was NOT READY and needed maintenance. It took 15 minutes to resolve the issue. I paid EXTRA for the mega party (has goodie bags and bowling pin for guests to sign...) only to find out that the other party groups STOLE our pin AND STOLE 5 out of 7 goodie bags. They even took pieces of our pizza! I notified the party hero and had a talk with some other workers and they gave us a new pin and goodie bags and an extra pizza. But it was SO STRESSFUL for me. They advertise that parent can sit back and let party hero do everything..ya right. They did NOTHING. I was running around the whole two hours trying to keep everything under control. NEVER AGAIN will I ever do any kind of party there again. They didnt even take anything off the check even though I had to continuously ask for assistance with OTHER PARTIES TAKING OUR STUFF and having them take forever to fix the lane.

I used to bowl at the AMF lanes in Hamden since it was where I lived, but since they closed down I had to find a new place. The next closest alley was Brunswick Colony Lanes, and I was glad to find it. The staff was attentive and friendly, the machines and lanes were well maintained and they had a good supply of bowling balls for people who dont have their own. The seating is a little different than I was used to; rather than have the classic bowling set up the tables were alternated closer and farther from the lanes to give your group more room. This was great if you are only using one lane and want some space, but if you have a larger group using two lanes its a bit divisive, just something to consider. The prices were reasonable, the alley itself was very easy to get to, and there was plenty of parking. Id definitely bowl here again. If youre going on a busy time Id definitely recommend calling ahead to reserve a lane since the place does seem to get pretty busy.

I havent been bowling for long, but I have always gone to Colony Lanes. The staff is attentive and willing to help. An added bonus is that theres a pro-shop on site, and the owner is very friendly. The snack bar is good, and I would definitely go there to get something to eat while I bowl. The arcade is pretty cool as well, although I dont really play most of the games. Overall, its a great experience to bowl at Colony Lanes and I bowl at least 5 games every week.
