This place must have good reviews for only night life because their lunch is awful. First time I went to Nixs was for lunch with 3 other guys. Arrived at 12:00 and ordered by 12:10, place was pretty empty. Keep in mind all we ordered was 3 chicken sandwiches and 1 burger. We waited until 12:35 and food was still not there so, we asked the waitress and told her that we need to be back for work within the hour. She said that our food should be out shortly and that she will take care of our check now so we can leave as soon as we are done eating. Another 15 min goes by (about 12:50) but still no food. This time we complained and said that we need to leave to get back for work. Shortly after, Food started coming out at about 12:55 and everyones sandwiches were incorrect in which the way they were ordered. Aggravated, we asked for the manager which took at least 10 minutes to track him down. Finally he came to our table and since we had already paid for our food he said he couldnt reimburse us but, would give each of us a gift card for 25$. We waited another 5-10 minutes for gift cards and finally left. I didnt even take my food with me since it had mayo or whatever the hell sauce they put on it so now I was starving, paid 12$ for that 25$ gift card, and was late back from lunch which I now lose money (time) on that. But wait theres more....yes more... Today, I called my order in for take-out and ordered a John Gallops Burger which comes with cheddar cheese & special sauce. So I ordered it without the special sauce and I added bacon. Lady says that it will be ready in 10 min. I get there in about 13-15 min and she says its going to be another 10 min and took my payment. Payment goes through as $17.xx but the menu says $12.00. Of course I added bacon so I expected another dollar or 2....nope $6 charge for bacon (like are you kidding me? That is no way to treat 2 strips of bacon, very disrespectful to my friendly bacon) After stating that this is an outrageous price for 2 strips of bacon, she shrugged her shoulders and I continued to pay with my gift card. The food did come out in the 10 additional minutes she promised and I was on my way. I got out the door and checked the food. Well once again, it was wrong. Special Sauce was added to the burger as with tomatoes, onions, and pickles (NOWHERE on the menu does it say it comes with these things, I triple/quadruple checked). Pissed off I didnt even go back in and threw away the messed up burger along with the gift card they gave me with the leftover 7$. No way I was ever going back or was I to give everyone that gift card for them to be completely dissapointed. I asked around work if they have even eaten at Nixs and every single person that I ask says they had a bad experience of some sort. Peace out Nixs it wasnt nice doing business with you.

So i went to Nixs for happy hour on a Friday with 3 other people and the experience wasnt the best. One of the friends i was with asked the waitress for a napkin or something to stop the table form wobbling and the waitress came back over and handed her the napkin. Our table also had dirty plates and silverware on the table. We had water glasses half filled as if someone was sitting at the table prior to us and it wasnt completely cleaned off.The waitress did not offer nor did she get on the ground to put the napkin under the leg herself. Later on in the night the table next to us had the same waitress and the same issue. At the end of the night is when we realized they have no happy hour drinks at all on a Friday. We ended up splitting our bill 3 ways. Two debit cards and cash that night. I was over charged. I called Monday morning to let a manager know and get my money back. The manager never called me back on Monday to tell me he was working on the issue. I called back Tuesday to be told i would get a call back after it was looked into. I got a call back hours to tell me it was worked on the day before and i shall receive my money back. i have yet to receive my money back and it has been about a week. i will not be going back to Nixs and i will not suggest it to anyone.

Second chance lunch - similar experience. Went for the 50% off corporate discount, so at full price they would get half a star? Party of 4. Arrived at 11:35. Put in our order at 11:45 the latest. A full hour went by before our app showed up! Almost 90 minutes before our meals came! 2 burgers and 2 chicken sandwiches take an hour and a half to make? Yikes. They took the app off the bill and $5 off too on top of the 50% off. Still not worth it... Business 101 - if youre going to do a "grand reopening" and bring in the local company in on a 50% off deal, you have to be able to deliver. We all get an hour for lunch. The place was empty at 11:35 when we showed up. If it was busy, would it have taken 2 hours to get food? Talking to my coworkers, this sounds like the norm at Nixs... Itll be sad when they go out of business.

Went there last night , first time bad impression, asked for my burger , medium well, served medium rare, sent back after two bites couldnt with the taste of blood, waiter said Ill have them make you a new one medium well, even showed me is order to the cook, I told him to put it to go being that everyone had finished there dinner , party of six. . He brought me my to go plate in a bag. When I got to hotel, i went to prepare to eat my burger, and surprise surprise , same burger ( two bites ) new bread buns, cut it in half to check before I bit into it and guess what, still raw , and Im talking blood dam raw, called let a message , no answer. Am I pissed hell yes I here for the first time and this is what I get. It sucks. Going there tonight to ask for a refund on my dinner . Lucky if I get that .

The service is so slow that it’s almost not worth going to enjoy the food. They’ve been under new management since June 2017 and I’ve been there several times for lunch, happy hour and dinner and the food is fabulous, but being set in the heart of Hartford, I’m not sure it’s worth the wait. People come in for lunch during work and need to buffer an extra half hour for service. The check takes forever to get to the table and then the wait for the waiter/waitress to come back and take our money and if you’re using a credit card it is sooo much longer, I’ve timed it twice now and it’s been about 12 minutes… you don’t have an extra 12 minutes when you’re taking a nice lunch during work.

Went with friends earlier his evening and were seated quickly and our water glasses filled by the hostess. Our waiter came over to introduce himself and then gave us a minute to look at the menu, ten minutes later he checked on us with water and said hed be back in a minute for our orders, ten minutes later. We had to ask for our check after he stopped coming over at all - seriously disappeared after our meals were served. He spent his time with silverware instead of taking the check. The food is over priced and not worth the money, the white and red sangria tasted horrible and the service was lousy. I will not be going back any time aoon.
