After attempting to dine in at 5:15 pm on a Friday night, being a woman alone at the time because my husband is deployed overseas as active duty military, I was not allowed to sit at a table. Instead I was told in a rude manner to sit at a pub height table for two where there was heavy traffic after the waiter slammed a menu on the table and said "there". I was discriminated against because I was a woman alone, did not have a man on my arm and did not appear to be a "big ticket" diner. During the past 8 years my husband and I were treated cordially with respect and dignity by this very same waiter in the same part of the restaurant. In fact, there was a large booth, a table for four and a table for two open in the back of the sushi area. However, without my husband I was treated as a second class citizen. The most sad part was that had my husband been there this never would have happened. I will never step foot in this establishment. I encourage anyone who is military to consider how your wives, or sisters may be treated in your absence. Any woman going alone to dine should think twice or risk being treated like something this waiter wanted to scrape from the bottom of his shoe. Clearly he does not respect women and takes any chance to treat them poorly when alone. Shame on him and shame on this restaurant for hiring such ignorant and backward thinking men.

The place came highly recommended, so we tried it out. The service was very slow to start and only got slower as the dinner went on. The buffalo wings were nothing more than deep fried wings, no seasoning no sauce. We waited two hours for a pizza that we then canceled. An hour and a half passed before we could locate a waitress for another drink, we all ordered water which tasted like it was scooped from a pool. The fish tacos were ok, they were supposed to come with vegetable chips but instead came with partly stale tortilla chips, a waitress claimed since they had beet extract in them they were vegetable chips. We were very dissatisfied with the whole experience. It seemed like they were very understaffed that night for the amount of people there.

This place has the casual air of a neighborhood joint and the flavors of a top notch restaurant in any big city. I have to admit I was doubtful that a place that serves pizza, bar fare, and sushi would be any good at any of them but I was pleasantly surprised! The sushi is top notch, as fresh as if you were in NYC or Boston (where their seafood comes from, every day, apparently). The apps and drinks were wonderful. Staff is friendly and helpful. You cant go wrong dining here!

My experience was nothing but fantastic! Service was on point, staff attentive and the atmosphere was very friendly. Food was above what is to be expected from what at first appears to be mainly a bar. Dont be fooled, the kitchen knows what it is doing and provides great food from a well rounded menu. It does get very busy here, so understand that you are not only one being served and you should be fine, just sit back order another round and enjoy!

Classic Apres-Ski atmosphere. Terrific sushi in the mountains of Vermont. Who knew? Very good pizza and burgers as well. Dealt with Jeremy. Terrific guy. You come as a customer and leave as a friend. Rest of the staff we encountered on our 2 visits were very friendly and efficient as well. Cant say enough about the place and I am not one who is easily impressed. Go & soak up the experience, you will be glad you did.

Just left the Matterhorn. The place has plummeted. Old and worn and resting on its laurels. If you want to be ignored while your feet stick to the soggy carpet until they are ready to pour you a flat beer and serve warm sushi, then youre in the right place. There are too many new and better places in Stowe. The Matterhorns best days have past,so should you.

Every time we visit Stowe, we go to the Matterhorn. It is a local bar with that local feeling. Dont be sensitive when you feel that the warm and fuzzy isnt there. Make yourself known and they are very very friendly. Food is amazing and staff is attentive and on top of your needs.

Great crowd & Comfy place to enjoy. Downside was: crappy rum even though i told the guy i wanted dark rum he gave me white rum crap. They gave me the wrong card and took too much time to give it back, probably bc they where charging the other guy my things.

Best restaurant in Stowe, hands down. Great pizza, great beer, and (surprisingly) great sushi with 3 for 2 deals from Tuesday through Thursday. Very cool vibe in both the winter & summer, and you get to eat right on the water.

Special bar that always makes everyone feel welcome. I dont know how they do it but they manage to cook both pizza and sushi and its always awesome! Definitely worth a stop in on your way down the mountain for apres ski.

Sushi are good, but really expensive. The mood of the bar itself though is weird. A little uptight on one side or fakely over relaxed on the other side. Depends on the staff you get but some of them are really bothering.

Possibly the worst service I have ever received. Wanted to leave and just pay for my drink and the server proceeded to insult me making me feel extremely uncomfortable. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Terrible service. Guy in front, Mike, is just a racist ignorant. Good luck with being treated like a deserving human being if you arent white Anglo-Saxon. Stowe shouldnt tolerate a place with employees like these.

Great local watering hole with very decent food, AND really great sushi bar. This is a quintessential ski bar dropping with local flavor and loyalty. If you havent been to the horn, you havent been to Stowe.

Its okay. I think it is a little over-hyped. Varied food menu, large beverage selection. Gets very very busy after a day of skiing so prepare for a wait.
