Well, since I pushed "Publish" by accident, to continue . . . EVERYONE, hates slow play. Signage needs to be placed at the 1st and 10 holes to remind players, and Marshalls need to be cordial, firm, and vigilant. . . . . . . . INCENTIVES are the modern trend for player retention and good will. Contests, drawings for "discounts & freebies" are essential for competitive advantages. Local play discount cards, monthly drawings - entry for each pd. green fee, and non-primetime green fee specials 10-11 and 1-2pm, pre-twilight and twilight GolfNow & Zing discounted tee times to spread out play evenly; instead of congestion. P.S. everyone likes to finish 18 holes before darkness, and these hours will (& may) allow this. . . . . . . . . Course upkeep includes mowing & maintenance off the fairways & greens - cart paths & rough included. Self-Help signage for fixing divots & green ball marks. . . . . . . . . As a 30 year player of SCG&T and one-time employee, I hope Santa Clara City continues to fund the maintenance of a much needed golf & tennis facility. Davids is a great facility, and the City should involve the sport & restaurant to associate together for incentive promotions. TY

I have played here LOOOONG time ago and curious about how it has been changed. Finally got a chance to play even though I had recommend NOT to play here due to PRICE compare to its maintenance/condition. And I was think how bad it could be. It is golf course of decent pricing and it should have good management. All come down to reality is that not to mention green itself, fairway wasnt kept up. My son is decent player as an early teen who recently broke 100. Instead of fairway (grass), I rather want to be in the rough but rough or fairway it seems pretty much same condition. My son wanted to leave after 9 since he has been hitting grounds so many times that his arm hurt. I dont know we went here at worst condition or what. Theres least likely I will be playing here again. I should went to Shoreline and fight against the wind instead of ground.

Had a great experience playing this course yesterday (Monday). Staff was very friendly and accommodating, price was right (booked last minute through GolfNow), and the course was very well kept. We arrived for a 2:52pm tee time but wanted to hit the range for a bit beforehand. Asked the guy at the pro shop if this was a problem, his response was "not at all, head to the tee when youre ready. Course was great for me (beginner) but added some good challenges as well. Great views of the SJ hills and new 49ers stadium under construction. Restaurant had a great happy hour (2 beers and 2 apps for $20!) and the bartender was very nice. Finished 18 holes in about 5 hours. Would definitely recommend this course to other beginners as well as folks looking for a leisurely day of golf.

it is indeed a place to golf and not so much for biking...thats just an observation. anyway....this is one of the best walking courses around. Very fair layout...i only had one slow round. the only negative thing about here is they will let 5somes go off and that promotes slow play. i play here 2-3 times a month. i never was charged more than i expected and if you want to play a 2nd round on the same day its free unless you take a cart and its just the cart fee. i had 2 days this summer when i walked 36 holes .since im a proud san jose resident it think its one of the best munis ive played (i like sharp park and pacific grove as well. im kinda disapointed in these negative reviews, but i see its about other issues than golf....

I was absolutely floored. They seemed so nice before. My coworkers and I had bicycled over several times and stopped at Davids for a beer after work. (Davids is the restaurant on the grounds) This time an older woman came out asked us "where are you from" and informed us that the bike path was "clearly over there" and that we were "not welcome." It was like something out of a movie. You know the scene The nice young black man goes the country club and is informed that "his kind should play golf at the municipal course". There was no race issue here but the ladies behavior was exactly the same including the slight scornful sneer.

Tried to play here for a Friday twilight, terrible decision. Lets be realistic, tee times spaced 7 minutes apart just arent feasible, especially on this course that backs up right off the first tee and is full of extremely slow players that seem to go unnoticed by the marshals. We hit our first shots over 20 minutes after our scheduled tee time and there were 1-2 groups waiting on every single tee box. We gave in after playing 12 holes (already 3.5hrs at that point) when we got to the 13 and there were now 3 groups waiting on the tee box. It is however a decent range, just keep note of the constant 2 club wind in your face

played on the date 19th Saturday !! Pros !! very nice weather and nice golf venue !! also good range ball practice !! Cons!! Not much convenient parking place and very delayed to start ( Tee Time was 12:45 and real start was 1:25 PM ) and very delayed every hole, could not finish and return cart key was mess ,,, Suggestion!! Need to improve booking and coordinate to not much delay game. I want to come back but some worry about delay to start and every hole delay.. Good Luck to improve !!

Yes, its often a busy course. Yes, it is often windy in the afternoons - hello, it is on the bay. Slow play can be an issue. On the good side, it definitely has some challenging holes, decent greens for the traffic and price , a great location if you work in SC. I think they do a good job of managing in a horrible drought - get used to it California. Cant say I love the course but Im glad its there. I go to the range 2x week and usually play the course 1x week.

Have not played here for a long time, probably more than a year due to a simple reason: it is too pricey for a course like this. The green is decent, the first cut is not that bad, but beyond that is just hard dirt. However, the worst is the car path and surrounding. Now that there is another sore eye: a gigantic 49ers stadium in the backdrop !! Id rather playing at Santa Teresa or Summitpointe with better price and view.

Tried charging extra "course" fees when paying with credit card...very shady. Told me one price when booking tee time on the phone but tried to charge an extra $20 per person when showing up at the course to play. Watch out for that! Found extra $20 charges on my card a few days later. Im disputing this with my CC company. Will NEVER recommend or play here again. Why does Google show 5 stars when I selected one?!?!?!

Our matches in the Bay Area Industrial Tennis League (BAITL) have been held at these courts for the past several years. They are nice, well-kept courts, but they can get noisy - both with overhead flights from San Jose and golf cart activity from the adjacent golf course - and windy during fall months. Word has it that the courts will be removed so the 49ers complex can be expanded.
