When I heard that Rod Piazza was performing at Arcadia Blues Club last weekend- I was super excited! I wasnt thrilled about paying a cover charge- but I thought since the venue was close to home- I would grin and bare it to see a great artist. Okay- so the cover was $16.00 before 830 and $20.00 after 8:30. My boyfriend and I showed up at 8:22 p.m. The door man told us it was $20 per person. I reminded him that it was not 8:30. He checked his cell and said "okay- it's $16.00 then." He blatantly tried to rip us off. When we walked in- we were blown away at how cheesy and low end the venue was. The tables looked like they belonged in a VFW hall. The bar area was sparse and the bartender looked like she should have been in the movie Bar Fly. To top it all off- the storage area is on the bar floor close to the tables. I was just waiting for midgets and a bearded lady to pop out from under the table. It was like a circus. I'll tell you this- there is no way that anyone could not find the restroom with a 3 by 4 foot sharpie marker hand written sign that is pasted adjacent to the stage that says RESTROOMS. This place was a dive and not even worth a $5.00 cover charge. Although the music was awesome- I couldnt get over the fact that I had just paid 16.00 to hang out in a place that could double as a bingo hall. Do yourself a favor and head over to Cafe 322 for free entertainment. You wont regret it!

I have been here on several occasions, and have totally enjoyed the "dive" atmosphere. The waitresses are surly and fun, if you cant handle it you should go to a trendy yuppy bar and cry in your apple martini. We saw Eric Sardinas, Rod Piazza, Guitar Shorty, and BB Chung King...all superb talents and what a great in-your-face- venue, you are literally 10 feet from the stage if you grab a seat before 8 pm. Angus burgers were tasty, beer was ice cold, and restrooms were VERY VERY clean, which was a pleasant surprise, as the main lounge is pretty old and shabby...but this is a BLUES club, not some overpriced disco bar. Bottom line, if you expect the Ritz, then go to the Ritz.

Real blues music! Great live up close music. Bobby and Maria take care of business! Great artist, cheap drinks, and a laid back friendly atmosphere. If you want the live music experience with no attitude, this is a great spot.
