My overall experience was not good due to the terrible service I received at the harbor club. I did however have a great expirence at guys restaurant. The harbor club: The view was amazing but does not out weigh the terrible service I expirenced Saturday night, July 1st. We went there to get drinks and appetizers while we waited for a table and the hostess were rude and seemed to not know what they were doing. I simply asked if you had to be 21 to sit at the bar and the two woman just seemed dumb founded.(The people I was with werent all 21) I told them that I dont mind waiting for a table at all and I gave them my cell phone number for a table, I did not receive a confirmation text message like I did for the other restaurant I was waiting for. They asked if I wanted inside or outside and I simply said what ever comes up first is fine. They just stood there staring at me so I repeated, first available is great. They quoted 25-35 minutes so I waited for 35 minutes and went up to the hostess stand to check on my table, to my surprise there were 4 open tables inside and 3 outside, and when she checked her tablet for the waiting list, I was the only one on it. She took me to the worst table inside right next to the front door. I told her I would like a better table, outside if you have it, since we waited and there were plenty of open tables inside and a few outside. After a few minutes they moved us outside. Server was very nice and accommodating but the amount of time it took to get sliders was a bit ridiculous. The fries were cold and the order was wrong. I asked for no onions and no sauce. I have been in the service industry for over 8 years and my overall expirence was horrible. I will not be back and I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Not Impressed with The LocAL at ALL. It is a sandwich/deli shop around the corner from the main entrance/Carolina Cupcakes. My co-workers and I stopped by during our lunch break. We decided to try The LocAL. I ordered the $12 meatball sub. There were 3 smaller-than-ping-pong meatballs on my sub, that had a "dash" of Parmesan cheese and a smothering of sauce. It came with a pickle spear. I cut into the meatballs, and 2 of the 3 meatballs were undercooked (completely pink inside). When I informed the line cook, they said to pick another sandwich because it would take about 30 minutes for them to bake new meatballs. I choose the French dip instead. The sandwich was again smothered with cheese, but had no flavor. The meat has an "iridescent" sheen on it, which was not what I wanted to see. At this point I was so hungry, I didnt care. I took three bites, and threw the rest away. I ordered fries as a side ($4), and they were undercooked/fried and very oily. I also ordered a bottle of water ($3). My entire lunch was $21. The prices for the drinks were NOT listed. My friend ordered a Coke, and it was in a can (like the one you get from a vending machine), and it was $3. Not only was the food horrible, but the service was slow and unorganized. It also doesnt help with the employees make negative comments about the prices and the food as well. I should have taken their comments as a warning.

Waterside has desperately needed revitalization for a long time, but what it got just doesnt cut it. The new waterside district has been turned into an entertainment and dining experience, only without the entertainment and dining. If youre looking for somewhere to take the family to, or to grab some good dinner, look elsewhere. Waterside is nothing but a handful of bland, uninteresting hipster bars with an almost cafeteria like atmosphere, all packed in far too tightly for comfort. They all serve the same alcohol at expensive prices, and completely misinterpreted the word "dining" to mean an extremely limited menu of ridiculously overpriced food, which is almost exactly the same as all the other bars in the building. Theres a Dim Sum place, and an ice cream parlor, and a Chipotle which is usually understandably empty. The food is too limited and bland to go for dinner, and too expensive and heavy to go for lunch, its the most pointless thing Ive ever seen. Im not a Norfolk local, Im from Philly, so maybe Im just spoiled, but I visit Norfolk every summer and there are a couple bar & Grilles in Norfolk Id rather hit up any day. The venue isnt at 100% capacity, so theres a chance they might get an actual restaurant or to in there to make it worth a trip, but its more likely theyll get a couple more cookie-cutter hipster bars to cram themselves in.

Check your bank account!!! We went on opening night May 4th and ate at the outer Guy Fieri bar area, spent $41.00 on crappy food that took forever because no one knew whose food was whose, still left a 20% tip and a few days later when I checked our account the amount had gone up to $96!!! The server had given herself over $40 for a tip!!!! I tried finding a number to call but there is no number listed for any place in that building. I sent an email on the contact page of the website and havent heard anything from them. I also sent a message through Facebook and was told Id be hearing from someone soon. Still havent heard from anyone! If you ate/drank at that bar that night or during any stressful night do yourself a favor and go back and check your bank statement. The charge will be listed as The Market. Itd be a nice place if they had made better preparation for such a huge opening.

A truly fantastic redevelopment/renovation! Waterside reinvented! Guy Fieri Smokehouse! A new gem for all to enjoy. The waterfront has been revitalized, and this is a game changer. High-end finishes, dynamic verticality, tremendous signage and lighting, expansive patios on all sides, cool indoor-outdoor vibe, breathtaking waterfront views of a working harbor, 17 food purveyors, restaurants and bars plus a luxury club upstairs and other space yet to be programmed. Live music, family activities and lots of good old-fashioned fun. Be sure to check the hours because some parts of the place close earlier than others. Also, the food can get a little bit pricey, but then again, you are paying for the location and the view, the vibe and the mix of people. Its unlike anything else for hundreds of miles. The downtown waterfront is happening again, and its about time!

I didnt like waterside much before, but now theres nothing of any interest. The building looks good, but all the entertainment is gone. Sometimes they have live music singing that same garbage you can here anywhere. By live band, I mean guy with a guitar. They used to have a piano bar, a game place, and a real bar, but now its "family oriented." Its not! I wouldnt bring a young child here during events. Maybe strait into a restaurant, but it all seems overpriced and the food hasnt been great so far. Id rather eat at the events or walk up Granby. Sometimes its way too crowded. You cant walk anywhere. Either way, its just restaurants, anyways, with a View of old rusty ships. Kind of cool, but... it makes me miss the old waterside.
