We both loved this place. The family was very cordial. Betsy was more than patient in explaining EVERYTHING to us. We loved the free samples. We got to try 14 different cheeses and 4 different versions of maple syrup at different time points in the harvesting period. One thing I learned is that whether the syrup is dark or white, the sugar content is the SAME. They have different grading systems, but its a little weird if you dont have somebody explaining it to you. B is the darkest color which means has the strongest maple flavor while Fancy is the clearest in color with the least amount of maple flavor. BUT, they are the SAME in chemical composition/sugar content, just harvested at different time periods. We both prefer the strong maple flavor so we bought some. The cheeses were amazing as well. You get to try the lightest cheddar to the sharpest cheddar they have. Excellent way for you to challenge your palette to see what kind of cheddar you like. This place doesnt charge you to taste test while others do. Which is a HUGE plus!! The tour is a self guided tour so even after the place closes at 5, you can still wander around. I wouldnt stay past sunset because there will be no lights!! I would definitely recommend this place to people who want to try Maple Syrup. In order to get here, you have to drive on unpaved road. Kind of sucks for your car, but the journey is well worth it. One driving tidbit, according to TomTom, it will want you to cross a bridge, that particular bridge by the water power plant is out of commission!! One other tid bit, if you happen to pass by this place called Fat Hat Clothing, coming South on Woodstock Road, make a right onto that street (Quechee Main Street), itll get you to the farm much quicker than driving past the broken bridge and loop around at the other end.

Sugarbush farm is the best maple farm experience in Vermont. While traveling through Vermont my husband and I were always looking for that great maple syrup experience and we finally found it. Everywhere we traveled it was mostly a shop with maple syrup for sale and maybe a display. Not a sugarbush farm this is the real farm. Pros The signs leading to the property were frequent and helped us keep on the right path. At the farm there is plenty of parking and signs to the right areas. So many great samples! The smokehouse was smoking away while during our visit and smelled so delicious. Must try the smoked cheese! So good! The staff was great at educating not only on the cheese, they explained the four levels of maple syrup. The syrup is fantastic! At the sugarhouse they did a great job of not just describing the maple process but visually showing the process and how much work goes into making each gallon of maple syrup. The maple walk is a short walk through the woods along the path of the maple tubing. As you walk you can see where the trees are taped and how extensive the system is. Cons Walking the maple hike the bugs were present, so bring plenty of bug spray. I would recommend Sugarbush farms as a top activity in Woodstock. Make sure to buy local and support local farms.

When we first arrived at Sugarbush, we wondered if this was the right place. It is a fully functional farm with farm animals, barn, fields. When we walked into the cheese preparation/tasting room, it still felt like "this is all?". But once we moved from room to room, and around the farm itself, we really understood what the other reviews were raving about. First, walk around the farm. There are informational signs everywhere to give you an idea what a building or farming tool is used for. Visit the maple sugar barn, walk through the forrest trails, go feed the farm animals. Then, wash your hands and go try some of the best cheese in Vermont. The Smoked Cheese, Jalapeño cheese, and Blue Cheese are outstanding. Youll want to stock up because if it is a 3 hour drive for you like it was for us, youll run out before you cross the states border. When you go into the store to pick out your cheese from the refrigerator, youll find yourself sounded by 50+ samples of everything from syrup to jam to cheese spreads. All very tasty. They also sell maple flavored soda and candy. Its a drive but worth it.

This is the real deal, a family farm and business that makes top shelf products. The maple syrup is, of course, fantastic, and you can get four grades that they make, maple cream, maple candy, the whole works. The cheese is exceptional, I recommend the Vermont light and the smoked. They greet you with cheese and syrup tasting. Now, this is not a fake place, so the grounds are rough around the edges. The shop is an old unpretentious farm house. The sugar shack is enormous but functional, not decorative. It looks like a farm set way back in the woods. So for tourists it is an authentic American family business experience. I live for maple syrup, and this is a gold mine. Prices are slightly better than in town, but volume is where you can get a deal.

I bought some of their cheese recently at a store in Arlington....and just opened it. Much to my disappointment... the cheese was wrapped in ALUMINUM FOIL then sealed in wax. Aluminum is toxic and transfers all of its chemicals to foods when heated and chilled..... much like plastic. Why? why would you do that to cheese? This makes me think the farmers are NOT concerned with health, or not aware of the health effects of aluminum. Its kind of like pouring hot maple syrup into plastic bottles and sealing them. It INFUSES the maple syrup with the toxic components of the plastic. Sad, but will not buy this product again.

We have visited the farm several times in the last few years. Very nice owners/staff, a lot of things offered for tasting. Their cheeses are delicious, especially the sage cheddar and the horseradish cheddar. Smoked was very good too. Maple butter was a blast, my mouth is still watering when I remember about it. The farm also has some farm animals that kids can view (and pet some of them) in the warmer months, so it is a good place to visit with kids too. All in all - one of the best places to visit in Woodstock, VT.

Sugarbush Farm is a great destination for familys that are looking for a fun time and also a pet friendly farm that makes great cheese and maple syrup. After feeding the goats and looking at the horses and rabbit we took a nice stroll thru the woods and learned about how maple syrup is made. Then we had cheese and syrup samples in the production room. And more samples of sausages and dips and jellies. All of which were super delicious. The blu cheese is to die for!! The staff was great too.

Wonderful. Weve been coming to Vermont for family vacations since 1998 and a trip to Sugarbush Farm has been part of every years visit. Our kids are now in college but still enjoy petting the animals. The samples of cheese and syrup allow you to try everything they produce to help you pick out your favorites. From extra sharp to jalapeno and cayenne to sage, their cheese cant be beat. Ditto for the syrup - our favorite is grade B, full of maple flavor. A visit is recommended!
