This is a cute place, and maybe today was an off day but theres a lot they need to work out service wise here. I just waited 30 minutes for a to go order of one coffee and pastries. They realized after Id already been waiting over 10 minutes and asked about the coffee that there was none brewed. Its a huge oversight not to have coffee ready in a cafe, and beyond that not to have realized that until a customer inquires about their order ten minutes later. I then had to wait further for them to brew the coffee, resulting in a 30 minute ticket time for a simple to go order which is pretty unacceptable. If I had a complicated order or they were understaffed Id have more understanding but neither of these were the case, just highly inattentive service. Ill likely give it another chance, but not on a Sunday morning when I need to be in and out.

Found out that this place used to be called "Standard & Pours Coffee Shop". "Opening Bell" is reference to the business casual type crowd. More yuppie-ish then hippster-ish. Was here in the late morning and early afternoon on a Friday; pretty quiet, nice barista and good wireless internet service. The Tea is fair as well. Wish more sip houses carried loose leaf but their selection of Harney & Sons Teas could be concidred the next best thing. I did try the Baja Chicken enchilada soup; very tasty & and would get it again. Seems like a great place to get some work done, have a study group or hang with friends. Would like to come back in the evening to see what the live music is like.

This is a great place to hang out, enjoy good coffee, food, and music. If you like live music but dont want to deal with the headaches and crowdes of the larger venues, you will love OBC. They have music almost every night of the week, and they also sell beer if you are not in the mood for coffee or tea. There are some great bands and acts that play there on a regular basis for little (if any) cover. Most of the time it is a "suggested donnation" as opposed to a cover charge. I have been going there for years, and would highly reccomend it.

LOVE, OBC! MY favorite place in town. A hidden jewel of Dallas. Great coffee, best place to HEAR live music in town. Great listening room and some amazing musicians come through to play Opening Bell. Owner and staff are wonderful, friendly and very helpful. Great place for; meetings, reading, breakfast/lunch/dinner, hanging out w/friends. Chicken Salad Sandwich, Chai Tea, Soup, Oatmeal, Breakfast Burritos. Everything Ive had these has been great. Located in the basement of SouthSide on Lamar a growing area. Check out OBC!

Hands down the best place to go in the vicinity of Downtown Dallas if youre looking for a chill, eclectic atmosphere, great coffee, and chicken salad that will knock your socks off (i hear the best batches are made by a resident vegetarian.) Live music most nights and in between are super fun special events like Bingo & sometimes Charades and other fun nights. Great talent and the owner is also cool and has been known to make an appearance to listen to all the cool acts she books every night. Viva la OBC!

I really enjoy Opening Bell. This is the epitome of your local coffee shop...full of eccentric tables and chairs. The staff is super friendly and they are intentional about building a relationship with regulars. The shop also brings together a bunch of local Dallas favorites to go with your coffee. You can get chocolates from Dude Sweet, beer from Four Corners, or Snappy Salads on Wednesdays along with many other local delights.

My favorite coffee shop in Dallas. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and awesome. The breakfast tacos are great. Tuesdays they feature Hypnotic Donuts. The coffee is fantastic - especially the Ethiopian. This is a perfect place for hanging out with some friends OR getting some work done. Plus they have live music pretty much every night. You need to be here.

Interior is a little run down. Drinks are amazing. Got a soy iced latter. Prices are a little expensive but its dallas.... So its to be expected. Would i come back? Probably. Its an underground coffee shop and its really cool. Anyway. I would try it out of i were you. Service was nice and there are good seating areas. They also have free WiFi so thats a plus!

Amazing espresso from a local green producer and awesome atmosphere, how could you go wrong! The staff is very personable and easy to strike up a conversation with. They have some great treats and snack all sourced from local vendors which is a nice plus, and the trivia night is a blast! A must visit if you are in the area.

Amazing atmosphere and decor! Great place to get good coffee and snacks. Definitely recommend the bacon quiche. Theres also a really cool "maze" area that you can explore... basically youll see an awesome art gallery, toy shops and music spots. Plus its pet friendly!

Slightly overpriced coffee, but the overall look and feel of the coffee shop and the fact they support local businesses, AND the amazing coffee completely overshadows the price. I go all the time now. The live music is perfect for relaxing with friends.

I go mainly for the atmosphere and to study. Coffee is good. They have Deep Ellum beer and some others. And wine. A few sweets as well. Great shows and artists also. Haha just go there. Parking is kinda far. But hey its Dallas.

Cozy underground vibe. Live music every night. Friendly staff. Amazing drinks (local beer, wine, coffee, and tea) and snacks. A favorite place to curl up with a laptop or bring a group of friends for a night of music.

LOVE the hazelnut coffee, baristas are all nice and helpful and the baja soup is delicious. Also really love the live music - whoever does the booking has pretty rad taste.

Very pleasant and service was excellent. Areas were clean and nice music that gets one up ND out of a rug in the morning. Loved it. Its a coffee shop , not a taco bar.
