EDIT:: As of tonight 5/29/17 Im changing my review to a 1 star. I had a really unpleasant time tonight. My problem being the fact that there is nothing but children running the place and even then with those kids its still understaffed. My other problem being some hoodlums running around everywhere, climbing on anything they can or cutting lines etc. Or adults smoking their cigarettes wherever they please(when Im 99.99% positive that there are designated smoking areas) it is truly just an unenjoyable experience. You simply cannot trust these people to respect rules and just common courtesy. There needs to be more people on duty and preferably adults. Im all for giving the kids these jobs but Ive seen it first hand enough times to know they hold no authority whatsoever and are just pushed around and some simply do not care. Again this comes down to the money I have invested and I feel Ive been ripped off and taken advantage of because Kings island simply does not have the staff to ensure that EVERYONE gets the family fun experience they deserve. I understand that eyes cannot be everywhere and there will always be something missed but the is just a direct negligence to most if not all regulations. Lines at concessions are non-existent, its just a blob of individuals with no direction at all. Unsupervised children in lines climbing on the rails, tossing their basketball around, cussing at the top of their lungs MULTIPLE times right in front of an employee (with nothing said or done) this all being one group in front of us on Flight of Fear. But dont let this fool you, this happens in every line on every ride. It is just not enjoyable to I or my girlfriend to go and chose to spend more money at the park just to be miserable. Its not ALL the parks fault, no Im not saying that. A LOT of responsibility and I mean A LOT of it falls on the park-goers themselves that being children AND especially adults and parents. But I truly feel if they knew they had that extra set of eyes on them and there were CONSEQUENCES for acting a fool the amount of incedents would drastically decrease. Im leaving this review here(as well as the old) and send it to Kings island themselves. I truly hope I can make a difference and I truly hope that others can attest and agree with me. Sorry for the long winded complaint but if youve read this far maybe youll possibly agree or maybe Ive convinced you to save your money and maybe invest it somewhere youll get an actual family friendly experience. Thanks for your time. Place can be really fun had I not participated in their 30$ refillable drink scam. Cant carry on items in several new ride and therefore cant bring the refillable cup you have to rent a 15$ locker per day. They just want as much money from you as possible which truly dissapoints me. I have a fun time riding rides but I feel scammed for even buying a gold pass. Its great if youve got a large disposable income but my wallet unfortunately hurts after being here.

I more still go to Kings Island because its where Ive always gone, since I was a youngster riding rides in Hanna Barbara Land. Its got a lot of sentimental value for me. I was there a couple days ago, and it had been a while since the last time Ive been there. I just didnt get the feel from the park I used to. To be fair, could be cause Im starting to get older and you know how us old folks hate change. The prices are just insane. Cant imagine being a parent paying for multiple people. On top of that, Im not a fan of the fast pass. I always hate the idea that certain people are entitled to more things just because they can afford it, especially when those people at theme parks tend to be bratty teenagers that have been handed every thing their entire lives because they have rich parents. To pay an extra $30 a head for a fast pass, when youve already paid an arm and a leg to get to the park and ticket price, just seems unfair when you know not everyone can afford it. It would be better if it was limited to maybe only a few rides and/or certain times of day, or maybe even to be used a limited number of times. On a final, more specific note, there was this security guard who just peeved me off. We all know policies exist for a reason, but like all of us who have worked in the customer service biz, we all know theres always an exception to every policy. Wed been in line for about 50 minutes at the Vortex, at the point where the outer gate meets the building. These two guys were in line in front of us, their wives waiting with their babies about 50 feet away off to the side. One of the guys jumped the gate so he could check on them one last time before the got into the building. Came back and the security guy absolutely refused to let him get back in line. No one in line had a problem with it. We even vouched for the guy. And the security guy got all jumped up because the guy challenged his "authority." Then he did it AGAIN to a family a few people behind us, whos daughter got out of line real quick to use the restroom. And he stood next to the point in line staring both parties down just to make absolutely sure they wouldnt try to pull a fast one. Seriously? We all know that policy was created for pain in the butt teens that should still be on one of those child leashes. I will be the first to defend people in a position of authority that have to deal with crap all the time. But theres also a limit, and a point where you have to let go a little. Dont try to validate your job by being a jerk and trying to prove a point. I will of course be at Kings Island in the future, because again, its where Ive always gone, but I no longer feel the need to go there every summer like I used to. After this experience this year, Ill probably branch out a little next year, possibly go to Cedar Point instead.

Oh Kings Island.... where to start. This park has literally something for everyone. Theres big thrill rides, a great kiddie area, small tame coasters for the younger/not so thrill seeker, gentle flat rides, shops, games, and nostalgia. Now Im going to give more tips rather than a review since Id just be reiterating everyone else. If youre going to go at least 3 times, buy a gold pass. It will pay for itself the 3rd visit. If youre going to visit any other parks (like Cedar Point) Go platinum. Again 3 times, with free parking included its paid for. Stop at Kroger or Meijer to get discounted tickets. Pack a cooler to have a picnic in the parking lot, or if you want, you can leave the parking lot (make sure you got a parking receipt) and drive around the corner to restaurants. Thats the main reason for one less star. Food prices are ridiculous compared to other amusement parks. Ride the Beast at night. Its not as rough then and flies down the track. It adds a whole new thrill! Diamondback is amazing. Even if youre not a coaster person, its worth a ride. It is the smoothest coaster Ive ever ridden, and Ive been on a lot. Its like youre just floating out of your seat every hill you go over. its amazing. Also fun at night. If you want to do the extreme rides like slingshot, or skyflyer, go by your ticket for $5 right away in the morning before prices go up, then use your ticket later on in the day when its $20 so the lines arent as long. Dont complain about the lines in July, thats peak season, especially on a Saturday. Just dont do it. The 3-D glasses are not worth it for Boo Blasters. It makes it hard to hit the target, but it is a cool effect It IS worth it for the $1 3-D glasses for Starlight Experience. You can also share them, and use them on Blasters. Different colored lights are different shapes and its just neat! If you need an $8 beer, The restaraunt at the entrance to Coney Mall, across from slingshot, has the best beer selection, and the outdoor patio to enjoy. The fireworks at night are pretty good. The Beast does shut down for a few minutes, but enjoy them from the queue line, and when the ride opens back up youll be able to ride. Enjoy the many live shows they put on as well. If you plan to attend their Halloween Haunt, I suggest a Friday night, especially if the weather was crappy or rainy earlier in the day. Rain keeps crowds away and the real fog will take over. If you want to enjoy the haunts, stay away on a Sat. night. The park is open all day so people enjoy the rides earlier then stay for the Haunts. Sunday and Thurs are good times to go since there will be a light crowd, but school is in session, so a lot of the houses wont be fully staffed either, so take that into consideration.
