Very disappointing experience on two occasions at Southbound Alley recently, all related to customer service, or absolute lack thereof. On the first occasion, immediately upon starting our second game, there was an announcement over the PA to put all bowling balls away now. This announcement was made with 45 minutes left until their posted closing hours, and left us wondering if they wanted everyone out, as most of the lights in the alley got shut off. 45 minutes is plenty of time finish a game. They simply should have let us and another family in there finish our games. Anyway, pretty much every other patron in the alley left their balls out in the other lanes, so as a courteousy our group put all the balls in the alley away (around 50). We left the building before posted closing hours, however, the staff looked at us upon leaving as if we were a nuisance and in their way, neither of which were the case. On the second occasion the lack of employee training and customer respect were nonexistent at the register. We came as a work group and bowled 2 games. At check-in, we clearly notified the attendant that we have 4 students in our group of 5 (there is a posted student discount rate). The employee acknowledged this statement and said something to the effect of, "ok youre all set". Upon check-out we came up to the counter, were told the total, handed over a credit card and they charged it. Upon receiving the receipt, we saw the student rate had not been applied to the applicable number of players. We brought this up to the employee, who said "oh you should have told us at check out". (???) We stated we told the employee upon check-in, but the check-out employee stated again that its our responsibility to make this request at check out. However, we were NEVER told this by at check-in. When we asked to have the charge refunded and recharged for the proper amount, the attendant, who then stated he is the OWNER, said he cant do that. He then told us to "calm down and step aside" so he could check other people out. Nobody yelled, nobody screamed. We stared the simple facts that their staff had not communicated properly. By this point, we had enough and decided to leave. It should not be the duty of a customer to remind an employee of a previously stated and acknowledged requested service, and makes no sense given the other procedures at the bowling alley. Shoes, games, etc. are all requested at check-in. Thats what we did with our student discount request, and were absolutely not informed of that needing to occur at a different point. The shocking fact is that this is how the owner of the establishment handles this situation. It is no wonder why the customer service is so lacking in this place. The owner stated his title as if to exert any air of control and superiority over the situation, when in reality he deliverd neither, and left a clear message: Southbound doesnt care about your experience at their alley, and doesnt solve problems with a customer-centric approach. For them to act like its impossible to refund a card and recharge a card is absolutely assured, ESPECIALLY because it was their staff who communicated poorly. We held up our end of the bargain: we stated our desires at the beginning of the night, followed the posted rules, cleaned our area upon finishing, and opted to eat and drink at the alley instead of elsewhere. On the positive side, the alley is clean and theyve improved the inside. I dont wish for any business to not succeed, but one thing is clear: the culture at Southbound needs drastic improvement.

Upon entering the facility, we approached the counter and started telling the employees how many people we had in our group just to be interrupted and told that they were only concerned about me and my husband even though they needed to know we needed more than 1 lane.We went on to play our games and when finished went to go pay our bill for my brother and wife to be charged $70 for 2 kids that had played like 3 games! Trying to say they played 7! Of course there was a dispute about that charge. After they were paid that amount ,they went on to call the cops,to which they lied about the severity of the issue because 8 cops showed up to surround my husband (who was holding our autistic child), and my brother. They suck. Go to eastern shore lanes. They are spectacular !

RIP OFF!!! Tried to charge my brother in laws kids 70 bucks for 3 games then called the cops for us disputing the situation. 8 cops showed up, tried to snatch my autistic child from my arms and fought me, my wife and my brother in law over a 5 and 6 year old trying to say the kids had played 7 games after we were the ones helping them play and we all only played 3. Long story short......go to eastern shore lanes. If I could give them 0 stars I would. Southbound SUCKS!!!!

My girlfriend and I went during glow night and it was really nice! They had classic bowling food, pool tables, and some arcade games. Its not state of the art; it just feels broken in and homely (not in a bad way). The lady at the good counter was sweet. We liked it better than our home town bowling ally (but thats not too much to compare to)

New owner is awesome! I have been going here since I was a kid and it was going down hill in the past couple years. The new owners seem like they can really turn it around they already have been a lot nicer and cut the cost of the pool tables and replaced the tops. I let everyone know to give them a try again with the new guys

Too tight of an area while waiting to bowl. Very crowded feeling. Bathroom door opens directly into a person washing their hands.
