Specifically Dog Exercise Area(northeast corner of IL-176 and Fairfield -- annual/daily pass required). The Happiest Place on Earth for Dogs! We have been going there 3-4 times a week for 13 years. Tons of open space, varied terrain, woods, and fields. Well maintained by the forest preserve staff. Dog vs. dog incidents are very, very rare. The only complaint we have beyond seasonal mosquitoes is the few bad people who dont pick up after their dogs. Bags are provided with tons of trash cans so there is NO excuse. Absolutely a must for Lake county dog owners.

Had a wonderful time enjoying the fall foliage until the forest preserve "cop" hassled us about where we were parked (completely pulled off the road in a spot that appeared to be a parking place) and wouldnt leave us alone until we left. Not another sole in sight, so why hassle us? Sad that this guy puts a bad light on the wonderful forest preserves of Lake County.

Gorgeous park! I love the trails, especially by the Winter Park and Trout pond areas! There are so many nice areas of the park... Its huge! I attended Civil War days here and it was really well done! I hike, run, bike, cross country ski, and snow shoe in this park. Its great the trails have tunnels under the roads...so much safer... And nicely done!

Have been coming here for years, great for group gatherings. Playground is a little small but theres plenty of room and trails to make up for it.
