I got to check it out last night. The place is absolutely fantastic. My #1 question: Hows their Beer? Answer: All six are tasty, drinkable, and worthy of a Craft Beer classification. Craft beer fans will enjoy all of them. Yellow beer drinkers should be able to find at least one they like (Note to the yellow beer die-hards: I like yellow beer too, but I like craft beer much, much better. Keep trying it.) Theres also a full bar, specialty cocktails, and a few other local craft beers (including Templar! Way Awesome!) The menu is soups, salads, sandwiches, and some appetizers. Definitely plenty of choices to make a full meal. We got the cheese plate and it was very, very good, especially with the beers. Looking forward to trying everything else, what we could see on the other tables looked good. (Side note, I think the long-term food plan is to develop a more robust menu, but they are keeping it simple for now. Pretty sure I heard that, or maybe its just easy to see thats where they will wind up eventually) Service was great. The greeter was friendly, our waiter was knowledgeable and awesome, the other wait staff was friendly, too. The space itself has a great vibe. Huge, long bar, many big "community" type tables, and plenty of 4-tops as well. The main bar room is gigantic and comfortable, a clean, polished-up version of the old factory it was previously. Bathrooms are shiny, new and clean! They have growlers available, I left with one full of the India Brown Ale. I really liked the English Pint shaped beer glasses as well. Great music playing last night too. John Lee Hooker. Howlin Wolf. It all sounded great. Bottom Line: Grand Slam Home Run. 5/5 Stars. Top-notch. Highly recommended. I will be back over and over and over again. Congratulations, Alton, youve really scored a first-class craft beer brewery! Congratulations, OBBC, so far youve done one hell of a great job. All the best to you guys!

This is exactly the kind of place that downtown Alton needs. A little funky, great beer and interesting food. My wife remembered coming to this place "a year or two ago" when it was an actual bakery while she was in Girl Scouts. The stouts are my favorite as was the kale salad. Who knew I even liked kale. but I did. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that there is no outside seating and with a view of the river like this, they really need to try and think up some way to bring the outdoors to the inside of the place.

Who would have ever thought that Alton (the middle of nowhere ) would have a quality huge Craft Brewery with lots of class and character. if you park on the East parking lot you can walk a hundred and twenty steps past the glass windows where you can see where they brew everything. Whether its just a couple of people or 200 of your best friends theres plenty of space. Right across the river with the view of the bridge this is perfect getaway from St.Louis

Loved the beers. Get really tired of double or triple IPA and beers with high alcohol. Great to see a Dark Mild on the menu and their English Pale Ale is very good as is the Magnum Pale Ale. Small menu but we had the Hummus and the turkey sandwich which was very good. A definite recommend and I will be going back.

It took an hour and a half to get our food. Some of the things we asked for werent brought, soup was cold. We were informed they have no microwave. The food wasnt that great nothing special. My hamburger was small, couldnt taste the bacon beer jam on it. Not worth the hour and a half wait. Food not really worth it.

I come here often usually for lunch. Great beer amazing food really relaxed place. Kind of weird of how far of a walk you have to go but its makes it a different experience. I recommend the porter and timber red coffee ale very very highly as well as the burger and the bbq brisket

good atmosphere, limited food menu, though the roast beef sandwich i had was done quite well, caramelizing the onions is a nice touch as was the artisan bread, I will go back after the grand opening to see how the changes in preparation for tourist/summer season are done.

Spotty service with OK food at best. The beer is very hit and miss. Never been impressed any of the several times I have been there. Worth checking out just to say you have done it, but not worth becoming a "go-to" spot.

Porter and double stout were fabulous. Good, solid home cooked bar food. Brilliant use of old bakery space. Laid back, comfortable atmosphere. Reminded me of good places in Berlin, both beer and ambience.

Awesome building and nice open bar/dining area. The beers I had were just OK though (nothing blew me away) but that was when they first opened. I look forward to checking them out again.

Good beer. Many to try. Food tasty with enough variety to please anyone. Their Radler and Shandy are top notch. Definitely sent me back to my time in Germany. A++ will buy again.

Beautiful rehab! Old town charm meets modern brewery. Great seasonal food and nice selection of their brews. Always having events to keep things fun. Best Porter in town

I had the BLT and their Octoberfest lager, the food was good, the prices are reasonable, and the place has a nice ambiance to it. Would go again!

Found hair in my food, service was lacking in service. And waited like 30 mins to get another drank. I love the place but could do a lot better.

Average beer. Decent concept. Tried to order a 32oz mini growler to go as advertised on the menu, was told they were out.
