If I could give this bar zero stars I would. I was a very adamant customer of this bar and loved going here until one day my favorite hat that was signed by one of my favorite NBA players was stolen after I asked an employee who I went to high school with to watch it closely. I tried to do the right thing by getting an uber rather than drinking and driving and me and my friends original plans were to go somewhere else. When we finally decided to go to bar we adhered to the rules thus leaving our hats out front and when I came back 30 minutes later to leave my hat was gone. The worse part was I emailed the manager of the bar and he stated that they had no accountability for lost items. Now I know this may sound irrelevant but I personally find it unreasonable for the management to not even try to come up with a resolution to the problem. I find it unfair and I will never go to this establishment again. I also encourage those who wish to have fun to go to Geronimos down the street because there you hopefully wont lose your items and if you do I believe they will be better at helping you come to a solution. On top of that the service is very slow the only good thing about this bar is the pizza. I would suggest that if you want pizza you go to many other places in new haven and go to another bar elsewhere.

This is definitely one of my favorite places here. The beer is solid and I enjoy whatever I try but its not something I need to have. My favorite beer is the espresso stout, which has a pretty unique flavor. Another of my favorites is their summer specialty, watermelon ale. However, the real appeal of this place is the pizza. It is otherworldly. Super thin and crispy. It is not a traditional New Haven style pizza but I will prefer it to all the other in this town. My favorite pie is a white with mashed potato, bacon and garlic. Everyone says that mashed potato on a pie sounds weird but they always want more. The bacon on the pies is the real key. Thick, crispy chunks are addicting and make every pie better. My favorite red pie is bacon with peppers and onions. Maybe add some broccoli to it if youre in the mood. The ambiance of the place is also great. It feels like an old factory stuffed with people and a brewery. There is even a dance club in the back. Some of my best nights out have been there. The only negatives are the long wait times on the weekend but its a great place to sip a beer while you wait. When I leave New Haven, Im definitely going to be stopping here whenever I pass by.

My boyfriend was visiting from New York and is a huge pizza and beer lover. I thought BAR would be the perfect place to bring him to experience New Haven Pizza. We went on a Saturday at 6 and had an hour wait for a table, but we didnt mind. We went to the bar to grab a house brew. However every house brew we ordered (three different ones in total) were all flat. We were a little annoyed but arent the type of people to complain so we drank the flat beer and continued to wait. We finally got a table, which was right in the middle of a doorway / walking space, but there was a lot of people waiting so we were just happy we could finally order. When the pizza came out it was completely undercooked and doughy. We eat ate a slice and took the rest home so we could finish cooking it ourselves. We spent around $70 at this bar and not one aspect of our experience was worth it. Needless to say we will never be back.

As a pizza place, you cant beat their mashed potato pizza. (Many claim its not good without bacon---those people are liars.) You can build your own and customize it to your own liking, so its great for groups. They also let you bring your own desert, which makes hosting birthday The place is often busy, so you can end up waiting a long time. The staff is usually aloof and often brief with its care. As a nightclub, however, its miserable: the cover is incredibly high ($8 last time I went) for a place with no other music than their (admittedly not-half-bad-house DJ). Its so crowded you cant walk or even stand (and certainly not dance) without bumping into and then getting tampled by the mass of five sweaty bodies grinding right next to you. In short: go for the pizza, leave when you want to dance.

I like The Bar a lot, and make several trips there each time I visit New Haven. I like everything about it, although I cant say I love everything. The balance of Yale grunge, good to excellent tomato pies, and excellent draft and bottled beer selection, with the right music and good vibes makes it an always pleasant way to spend an evening. The home-made stout and pale ales are delicious and satisfyingly complex, and the pizza is a perfect accompaniment to the beer of your choice (the mashed potato-bacon pie is their trademark and is very good, but the more traditional pies are very good in the New Haven pizza crust style). I really enjoy this spot and look forward to my next return visit.

Cool atmosphere. I visited around 6:30 with my almost 5 year old daughter. We sat upstairs and overlooked the kitchen, so we could see the pizza being made. It was busy, but we didnt feel crowded at all up there. The place is very clean. The pizza itself is thin crust, which seems to be the norm for the area. Excellent, although Im not sure how many toppings the things crust could support. They charged me for a refill on my soda, which is really the only complaint that I have. Just be aware of it, thats all. I would recommend this place to anyone interested in a cool atmosphere and some good tasting pizza. Looks like they brew their own beer too!

hey, little girl from trinity bar working last night, you suck! youre toxic! look at yourself in the mirror and realize that despite your delusions, you are not better than anyone else. i sympathize with you because you cant even see how noxious you really are. i almost regret not keying your suv which was parked directly in front of the door, but i refused to stoop down to your lowly level. heres a small piece of advice: learn to smile - even if its not genuine, at least put on an act. be kind. treat others with respect. we are all in this together. im at bar a few nights a week. i hope to witness your improvement. wake up! the clock is ticking.
