Nice theater and everything is in good shape. It is the staff, directors and writers I have some serious concerns with. I have gone here over the years and it is not a welcoming environment for diversity at all. I do not think that the center is aware of the unwelcoming atmosphere it has created for people of color. From the way the staff treats people to specifically the stereotypes and script that is displayed on stage. I was there recently with my family for the Sister Act production. Not only was the overall theme of the movie evaded, around the unity of a group of women regardless of race religion, and upbringing; there was more precedent put on the differences and the shaming of black women as they reinforced negative stereotypes. The lead actress was very talented, and I am not demoting her work or the work of the cast. It is the directors, writers and center that should be looking at their very dated, and I must say racist script, that shocked and honestly disgusted my family. Throwing around degrading terms like the N word in a musical and making a joke out of it is the epitome of reinforcing oppressive behavior towards people of color. Regardless of the time period the play took place ( which was the recent 70s), there is no appropriate time to make a degrading and oppressive term seem light hearted or ok to use in 2016. Very disappointed in this place and the audience who laughed loudest at this disturbing joke. I hope the center and all who participated will step up and realize their mistake and do their part in helping make this a welcoming place for all by doing their research and being more societally appropriate next time. Until then, my family, friends and I will never be returning.

Great venue to see shows, and they put on great shows with adult actors for child audiences, but the two times my kids participated in a show there, they had an very slight elitist attitude and were cast as chorus members, which is not the way it is advertised, and did not learn much in the way of new skills. There are better programs in the area. Good place for young children to watch, but not learn. They offer too much variety and the focus is very broad. That same variety is great for a school field trip, where kids can get involved and see a show (with adults in the cast obviously), do an art project, do a tour backstage, but I found I couldnt get everything from them, so be it.

This is a great center. In addition to hosting performances and plays, they offer many classes including drama, music, pottery, dance, and visual arts classes. There are classes for all ages, both during the school year and during the summer, and they have amazing teachers as well. Besides performances and classes, the Arvada Center is also home to a historical museum featuring various pioneer equipment and lifestyle information, as well as galleries featuring local artists.

This is a review for the playground. The town of Arvada has this listed as a park with a playground. In actuality, there are statues and structures for children to climb on. For younger kids, there isnt much of interest. There are picnic tables, so this would be a good place to go with lunch packed and some older (ages 4+) kids. Younger kids with small legs wont be able to climb any of the animal statues very easily.

Our children have done a few activities at the Arvada Center. I highly recommend the Art Start program for preschoolers. Art exhibits are nice to visit during wait times during classes. Outdoor theater is fun for family. Great programs, a bit confusing facility but not difficult. Squiggles in playground is exciting for children, and its now nicely shaded with mature trees.

"White Christmas" was a lovely surprise. We thought wed be seeing a remake of the Bing Crosby movie, but no. Arvada again presented a stellar cast, amazing dance numbers (loved the piano scene), new and fresh and funny dialogue and added music, and amazing, creative sets. Weve been attending for years and so appreciate this jewel! Thank you!

We have seasons tickets for musicals and plays and just saw The Sister Act. It was wonderful. The lead was as good an actress, singer and dancer as Ive ever seen. I like going to plays at the Arvada Center - the production and quality are as good as plays Downtown Denver and its easier to park and get in and out.

This is for seeing concerts here. Just the right size. I love sitting in the grass with a picnic. As long as you dont bring alcohol or glass you can pack anything youd like. Make sure to bring legless chairs if youve got them. Feels very intimate. Nice bathrooms and good food/drink options.

My 4 year old just loves the dragon park area so we come here weekly. There is indoor activities in the building of the performing arts but honestly Ive never been inside. This is also a great place to play Pokémon Go with the family because it has many stops as well as two battle gyms.

We had a wonderful two nights at the Center this past week. Thank you for hosting a variety of musical groups. The Denver Brass was fun and the CO Symphony did a great job with Leroy Andersons tunes. What would have made it perfect....cup holders at the seats!

Beautiful center!! We saw Death Takes a Holiday on the main stage. The play was fabulous!! The theatre has stadium seating....not a bad seat in the house. I felt like I was watching a play in NYC at one of the Broadway theatres!!

Was there for a conference. The place is very nice. Alot of art and history in the building. It also seems as if they hold concerts and dance lessons there as well. Right off the main road. Love the art in the open field too

Beautiful facility that features art and various galleries throughout the halls. The dance classes for young kids are excellent. The teachers are quite attentive from my experience. Not quite adequate parking in my opinion.

The first thing you see here is a beautiful park with tons of open space, sculptures and room to run and play! My daughter loved the cement dragon located behind the center which is okay to climb on!

I loved walking amongst the still statues (and especially the wind driven sculpture, amazing), and somehow managed not to get bumped into by the 99.9% of people there looking for Pokémon

Great hidden gem in Arvada. Kids play area is other worldly, tones of community programs, great shows and productions and they are spectacular at hosting events.

Amazing! Wonderful events and classes. Delightful and creative playground for the littles outside, and a really enjoyable historic reconstruction of a cabin.
