The Fremont Center Theatre, a small, beautiful theatre in south Pasadena, houses the YST membership company. My daughter has been with this group for 3 years. She had zero experience when she started and now has developed her singing and acting talents to the point where she has been accepted to a performing arts school and is getting lead roles in her theater and school plays. There are actors of all levels at this theater. Some kids are simply there for recreation and others are training for professional careers. There is never a charge for participating in the shows. Most youth theater programs in LA cost hundreds of dollars per show. Not here. Acceptance is based on merit and all actors must audition for each show. There is nothing like YST in LA. In addition to developing performance skills, YST actors are taught professionalism, responsibility, and camaraderie. They can walk into any audition with confidence. This program is funded solely by ticket/concession sales and the generosity of our theatre patrons and community. Come see one of the shows. You may be surprised by the talent you see on stage!

Being a member of this theatre company has given me a great deal of tools, improving my acting abilities- definitely, but most important to me, Jack and Gloria have taught me crucial life lessons and characteristics that have advanced me in the real world. Participating with YST for almost a decade now, has given me many opportunities: expressing myself on stage, off stage, acquiring new roles and positions such as stage manager, conductor of lights and sound, and music director. Jack and Gloria are devoted to this theatre and every single person that walk through their doors. Theyve heavily impacted my life and the lives of MANY others in the most positive way. I admire everything they do for the community and those involved. <3

My daughters have been with Young Stars Theatre (YST) for the past 8 years and have followed them from North Hollywood to South Pasadena, at the Fremont Centre Theatre (FCT), where YST has called home since January and for the foreseeable future. The directors of YST have taught my kids, and several others, MANY valuable lessons in the theatre industry, everywhere from auditioning to stage managing to performing. ALL for FREE! You will NOT find another theatre company, for adults OR children, that will teach as much information, even if you had to pay for it. If youre looking for a theatre to involve your kids, youve come to the right place. Check the website for upcoming auditions and give it a shot. You WONT regret it!

From the age of about 14, Young Stars Theatre has been my family. I have done countless shows with them and had so many opportunities to grow both onstage and offstage because of the wonderful owners Jack and Gloria Bennett. I am 22 years old now, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Performing Arts from AMDA College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts which would probably not have happened without them. YST is a huge reason for my love of Theatre and the Arts. Becoming the resident theatre company of Fremont Centre Theatre has been a godsend. Nearly a decade of my young life has been made better by these people and this group and Im still doing shows with them to this day. Love YST and FCT! <3

The Fremont Center theater, and specifically the Young Stars Theatre membership company has been an incredibly positive experience for my two young children. They have been given the opportunity to grow, express their creativity, and learn skills that will benefit them far into the future. I applaud Gloria and Jack Bennet for the performances they are able to coax out of these children. It is such a gift to be able to work with kids in a professional manner and they are amazing. They are also so generous as to welcome children of varying economic means. No one is excluded. This is unique and wonderful. If you have the opportunity to see a show or participate, dont miss it.

My daughter has been involved with young stars theatre for the past 2 years and it has been nothing but an amazing experience for her! All of the kids are great and so supportive of each other and Jack and Gloria really know how to put on a good show! I appreciate their honesty and punctuality and I feel confident that my daughter is in a safe environment. I love the friendships that my daughter has made there and all that she has learned. We love it so much that we actually commute from out of the area because we have not found anything else like the young stars theater in our area, let alone one that is a "no pay to play" youth theater program!

The acting, directing and production quality of every play they do is impressive! The shows are all top notch and it is a much better experience than waiting in a long line to see a typical movie on a Saturday night. Our daughter was invited to be a member of this theatre company and it has been the best experience ever! Shes been part of other theatres and this is by far the best. Jack and Gloria are very experienced professionals and they make the rules perfectly clear to all the parents and actors. The thing I like is they dont play favorites. Even actors who have been in multiple shows have to follow all the same rules as everyone else.

Young Stars Theatre has been, and continues to be, an amazing and inspiring place for my son. It is a non-profit childrens company, and charges NOTHING for actors to participate (yes, you read that right). Kids are really taught the ropes, in a nurturing, safe, and accepting environment. Jack and Gloria (the founders and directors) run a tight (and loving) ship - and I have never seen my kid learn so much, work so hard, and ALWAYS look forward to rehearsals. They are housed in the beautiful Fremont Centre Theatre, and every production is like watching a professional troupe. Words cannot express what a wonderful and unique company YST is.

ive been with this theatre company for years now, and the owners are like my family. my time spent here has been the best of my life and i keep coming back because of that. the family and friends i have made there are irreplaceable and everyone there makes me so happy. the people there work extremely hard to make these kids actually good and i can see them grow throughout each show, myself included. the notes they give i can apply to almost every show i do. they have really made me strong as an actor and i really feel like myself when im there. its been the best 8 years so far, many more to come.

This is such a wonderful, and amazing space. The atmosphere that the two directors have created in this theater for their organization is unbelievably heartwarming. I have been working with this non-profit for more than a couple years now, and my own growth (both professionally, and in my personal life) has been astonishing. The directors are so professional, and touched with the most enchanting sense of humor. Jack & Gloria make for admirable directors, and even more admirable people. Certainly an organization I plan to work with for many more years to come.

My daughter started performing with Young Stars Theatre when she was just 5 years old. She has just finished her 6th show after 4 years. Jack and Gloria Bennett are awesome people. They always have something nice to say and are always positive. They are wonderful teachers and coaches. The great thing is there is no charge for kids to be in the productions. We are excited that they have found a new home at Fremont Theatre. A lot of child actors that have worked with Jack and Gloria have become very successful. One was even nominated for an Academy Award.
