Im on a mission..........to have some fun!! I attended a techie closing reception at Mission Bowling Club, and I had a fabulous time! MBC is a vintage bowling alley, the likes of which are popping up in LA & other metropolitan areas. I didnt actually put on the laces & bowl for a turkey, but I did enjoy partaking of the delicious spread, sipping on refreshing cocktails & schmoozing with a bunch of strangers. We had access to an open bar, of which I indulged in their bitter lemon & summer smash. The bitter lemon is made with house-made bitter lemon soda & vodka. Bright, tart & geared for lemonade enthusiasts, it was a nice start to a magical evening. The summer smash, however, was amazing & dangerously smooth. Consisting of bullleit bourbon, ginger beer, rothman & winter apricot, combier, seasonal fruit & lemon, I had at least 3 as far as I can recall. I also sampled a few craft beers, just for the heck of it. The endless array of food was a sight to behold. Including, but not limited to- Boneless fried chicken- Served with ranch, these were my favorite dish the whole night. Perfectly cooked, with a crispy, crunchy coating surrounding tender & juicy white meat chicken. A little dip in ranch, and I was in heaven. Spring rolls- I found these to be okay, as the healthy portion of our dinner. The sauce certainly added to the flavor profile. Mission & vegan burgers (with potato & sweet potato fries)- Burger me, please! The Mission burger was composed of Monterey Jack cheese, caramelized onion & caper aioli on top of a perfectly pink on the inside beef patty. Scrumptious is an understatement! I removed the buns to save room for more food, and also because I usually eat burgers lettuce-wrapped anyways. The vegan burger consisted of chickpea panisse, guacamole, sambal & fennel. I didnt try this, as I was fixated on the Mission burger. Hours at Mission Bowling Club are as follows M-W 3pm - 11pm Th & Fri 3pm - Midnight Sat 11am - Midnight Sun 11am - 11pm MBC is a 21 & over venue, but family hours are Sat & Sun 11am - 7pm. Brunch is served weekends only from 11am - 3pm. The sale of some select menu items have $1 going to local non-profits. Do good while eating good! MBC has 6 regulation size bowling lanes, with pricing based on 6 people per lane & charging by hour. At least 2 lanes are kept open everyday for walk-ins on a first come, first served basis. Service was excellent. Besides the dinner spread, staff meandered about with passed food trays. Used plates & glasses were quickly snatched away from our sights. Seating is at the bar, at the lanes (shoes required) & 2 private areas. 1 is to the right of the entrance, the other a loft on the second floor. Mission Bowling Club is a great venue to hold your next event, or just to have some fun on some random day. The staff were on point with making sure we were all having a good time, while the food & drink were droolworthy & kept us going all night. Id love to come back and to actual bowl this time, sipping on a specialty cocktail and stuffing my face with a Mission burger stuffed with boneless fried chicken for good measure. Highly recommend! Delicious food, good service, friendly staff, fun times. Came here on a Saturday evening around 8pm with a few friends. We didnt bowl, just ordered a bunch of food. Kennebec kettle chips - 4 stars. Thats actually more stars than I ever thought Id assign to potato chips. I wouldnt have ordered these but my friend was adamant, and they were surprisingly great! Seasoned kettle chips drizzled with something sweet (I cant remember what)... they were crispy and sticky and sweet and spicy all at the same time. Brussels sprouts - 5 stars. Served with parmesan and lemon. Crispy, caramelized, creamy, citrusy, garlicky. You could taste the lemon zest. Honestly, some of the best brussels Ive had. They were awesome. Buffalo chicken sandwich - 3 stars. Served with blue cheese, slaw, and fries. The buffalo chicken was better than I expected, it was properly fried and super crispy. Im pretty sure they were using dark meat, which made me happy, as theres more flavor there. The sauce was nice and thick the way its supposed to be and stuck to the chicken, though thats not to say this wasnt some sloppy eating! I couldnt taste the blue cheese, which was disappointing, so I asked for extra. I received blue cheese dressing, not actual blue cheese, but Id bet thats what was used on the sandwich, which explains the lack of flavor. The fries were similar to the ones you get from In-n-Out, where theyre not quite fried enough and they taste too much like potato and not enough like a junky treat. Probably a blessing in disguise, I certainly didnt need to eat them! Burger - 4 stars. Served with monterey jack, caramelized onions, caper aioli, and fries. This is actually the thickest burger Ive ever seen in my life. It may have been 1.5" thick. Just huge. It was served perfectly medium rare, super juicy, and the caramelized onions added some depth of flavor, though I couldnt taste the aioli. The bun was also SO small comparatively, which led to some great sloppy eating. I did enjoy it, though honestly, I could have done with a smaller burger. This is a lot of food. Same notes on the fries as above. Totally fun - they serve their beer flights in a bowling pin. And yes, they do beer flights! You can just tell this place is all about a good time. Ill definitely be back.

Bowling is great. Good food is even better. What happens when you have both? Mission Bowling Club! The lanes are pretty pricey, and they fill up fast. The plush leather upholstery is a nice touch though. If you dont get to play, the food and drinks alone are worth the trip. The mission burger is a serious burger. And by serious, I mean serious. The 1/2 lb. patty is cooked to perfection, with a sear on the outside that gives it a delightful crispy crust and a juicy medium pink center. This is right up my alley as I generally dont like burgers cooked too rare, because instead of having a tender crumbly patty, it becomes mushy and pasty. The burger is also seasoned very well. Its salty enough to make the rich beefiness pop, and the flavor maintains its integrity as it mixes with the grilled onions, cheese, and bun. The only thing that would make this burger better is to slap it on a charcoal grill. It would be divine to have the same crust and juiciness with just a kiss of smokiness. The jerk pork shoulder sandwich was really good when I first came here. It had big smoky flavor, and the warm spices gave the pork flavor some depth. It reminded me of my own barbeque since I use jerk spices in my rub. Unfortunately, it wasnt as smoky the last time I ordered it. Too bad... Dont forget the home fries if youre here for brunch. They have a light but very crispy exterior, and the inside is nice and soft. I also really enjoy that theres rosemary to add an extra herby flair. Bowling + Good Food = Duh Winning

Small, slightly upscale bowling alley with six lanes but feels very open and spacious. High exposed warehouse ceiling, old school mahogany couches, vibrant art. Nice mix of new school, old school, and industrial. Its still casual enough that youll spot a few plaid shirts. They have a good beer selection and cocktail menu. Very very good food here. I would be willing to just come here to eat. Highly recommend the Mission Burger -- its one of the best in the burgers in the city! Very thick, always perfectly cooked and juicy. Other tasty food options include the mussels & bone marrow and the farro risotto with mushrooms. This place gets pretty busy so it may be difficult to get a lane if youre going casually with your own group of friends. Great for company parties though!
