Ive taken the family hiking here a few times. There definitely is not much shade but i have found that if you hike this trail during the colder months, it is more enjoyable. I never knew that there was coastal redwoods right in my own back yard. It is worth the hike and if your looking for something fun to do locally rather then spending a ton of money on gas to travel up north to see coastal redwoods, then this will satisfy your desire. If you park near the Army Corp of Engineers Dam parking is free but limited. You travel 1 mile exactly until you reach the only restroom unless you walk down towards the center of the park. The facilities are well maintained. If you enter the park off of Lambert then your more likely to pay a $5 parking fee to enter the park. There are plenty of play areas and benches, open fields, exercise stations throughout the park, a man made lake, tennis courts, and a small museum at the far northeast end of the park. You will also find a marker or two detailing the history of the park or the air plane pilate who once lived there. Note: A few years ago the park suffered from disastrous fire. Improvements have been made and the area has shown signs of recovery.

I love this place soooo much! My only complaint, in other states you dont have to pay to see nature, its ridiculous that you come to California and all of a sudden even hiking trails cost money to enter? Lol thats absurd. You shouldnt have to pay any money to see nature. It doesnt charge you. Yes, it is only 3$ on weekdays and 5$ on weekends but what if you go hiking because you cant afford anything else? Then you make people pay to hike... I dont know how I feel about charging people for nature.

This is the only grove of "Red Giants" in Orange County and its located in the city of Brea. Trail is capricious so stay on the dirt while keeping a watchful eye for snakes. Do stay on the trail to avoid poison oak. Mountain bikers frequent this trail along with joggers so be alert. Trail is flat and restrooms are nearby. You will need to pay for parking and this includes use of playground, lake, access to "wild animals" spotted some geese and squirrels. .

The trail is fun, loved finding the redwoods. Love the park where people can hang out, take their kids to the jungle gym/play area. Restrooms are kept clean often. The trail is great, not too long, there is plenty of shortcuts if you have kiddos that get tired fast. Parking can be tough at times, but overall, its fun.

Carbon Canyon is definitely a beautiful place to visit... especially if you enjoy nature. The views are breathtaking and you dont have to hike far to see some of Californias wildlife. Plus, if youre on a budget, the entrance fee ($3 weekdays, $5 weekends) is easy on the wallet!

There is a copse of Redwood trees a short hike from the park. Its a great area to go with kids for the play grounds and for them to see me the Redwoods. Its also great for group of adults. This park is always kept up and clean. The bathrooms are also always clean

Used to be pretty good. Recently there has been massive hordes of gnats and mosquitos everywhere. They really get in your face and ears. Kinda annoying. Other than that, the trails and stuff in the back are long, windy, and really good for hiking.

This park is great! The facilities and grounds are always clean and they have great picnic spots and playgrounds, not to mention the trails! They also have great programs like movies in the park (during the summer) which are so fun to go to!

Extremely nice park with a nice lake. We went to see the Coastal Redwoods but it was right after one of the big rains so the trails were closed. Well have to come back and try again soon. Beautiful area though, we really enjoyed it.

Really pretty park with nice hiking trails. If youre looking for an easy hike that you can take the little ones on, walking to the redwood groves is an easy walk with a really nice payoff.

Nice park. Playgrounds are modern and clean. Major downside is the amount of duck or bird droppings everywhere. Really. Everywhere.

Very open. Very clean. Tennis courts and a pond. Restrooms do need some attention for a park that charges for parking.
