Easy walk from the BART station, but also Ive never had problems finding parking. Lacis is a magnificent source of craft books and tools of all types although with something of a focus on wearables like clothing and jewelry, less home dec or large scale weaving. Consumable supplies are somewhat limited, geared (as youd expect) to lace and a touch of millinery, and haberdashery. Having said that, they have the tools for everything from cross stitch to kumihimo, beading to temari. The tools range from light up knitting needles to vintage/antique bone stilettos. I think I once spent over $100 on different types of needles alone. A must-see for any crafter in the area (although shipping is "free" in the US, so even if youre not in the area...).

I love this place, but I always have to make a specific shopping list and set a budget before I walk in. A lot of stuff you just arent going to find anywhere else (or at least not all the variety in one relatively convienient location). For reasons I dont quite understand, it may actually be cheaper to buy Lacis brand items through other non-Lacis online retailers, however. But of course, then you may be stuck with four or five shipping charges if you have a bunch of different needlework and lace making hobbies.

Best place to find everything you need for lacemaking and needlework. They have an excellent bookstore within the shop with very a very unique selection on lacemaking, textile and costume history and recently I found a how to book for retro hair styles. If you love lace, needlework, Textile and fashion history this is the place to go. It is located right across the street from the Ashby/Adeline BART station.

I drool over visits to this Lacis. They have an incredible selection of materials, supplies, and tools that are not easily found anywhere else. It is NOT a "beginners" store -- most of the customers who love this store seem to know what they want and are eager to *finally* access it. I have been extremely happy with the purchases Ive made there.

This place is a gem for crafters and sewists. There is so much neat stuff to see that you should probably set aside at least an hour for your visit! I travel over 50 miles just to buy my corsetry supplies here since its pretty much the ONLY corset supply shop in Northern California. All the employees are friendly, very helpful and informative.

This place is a dream come true for anyone who loves lace, crochet, jewelrymaking, fiber arts, costume, any pretty things. The museum is beautiful, and the store is a museum in itself. Come for some cording, stumble onto a pre-Columbian textile exhibit.

The manager or owner are rude, the workers there are sweethearts, and there selection is simply amazing.... And the Free museum? Not much of a museum; just a room in the back with some old wedding dresses.

It has the most amazing museum, if you can appreciate laces of all kinds. Whats awesome is that they change the displays so dont miss them! They also have a FABULOUS book collection!!

Fantastic textiles, trims, ties, cords, treads and yarns. If you are a designer you find tons of inspiration. Take your time and make sure you get a tour of the wedding dress section!
