Thought is was a great place to go from the outside. Walked in the front door and the wait staff asked "how many?" (Group of 6). The greeter then pointed to a table right by the door and said "you can either sit there or outside". So we proceed to sit down indoors. Then the odor of strong cigarette smoke wafted over. Sure enough there were a couple people smoking at the bar right behind us. Not sure of the legality of smoking in a public place, but it definitely made the atmosphere less enjoyable. We ordered some drinks and what the waitress brought out were beers a little bit bigger than a Dixie cup. The ordering process was just, well, a process. It was very loud and the waitress had a hard time hearing us shout across the table. I dont know if the waitress was new, or there was a new system was in place but the waitress was inputting all our orders into an iPad and it definitely was ALOT slower than just writing our order down on a piece of paper. The food came out one at a time as soon as it was done. Not only was one persons order forgotten, but by the time the last person got their food everyone else had finished. Even just trying to get another beer after we were finished eating seemed to be a process... We would order another round of drinks and the waitress would walk away and poke around on the iPad for 5 minutes, then go to the bar and ask for more beers for our table. And the food was "ehh"... basic bar food. The place was dirty, and the decorations looked like they hadnt been dusted since 1944. This would be a GREAT place for a single drink along the boardwalk... But thats about it.

Amazing music and great beer prices even though one of the bartenders knowingly overcharged me for a beer. There is a sign that clearly states the price of all beer and I was ordering two. I handed over exact change but the bartender told me I owed him more. I was already gonna tip the guy so I just went with it but I was severly disappointed in the dishonesty of the employee. I didnt want to make a scene in front of company so I let it slide but needless to say I did not tip the same guy again for his rudeness. Also there is a rule that you have to stand outside the actual bar room in a separate room if you have a liquor drink, which was really inconvenient considering we were there to see the awesome band. Disappointed with service and the actions of a particular bartender, but all the other bartenders were absolutely wonderful. Great atmosphere and I cant say enough about how great the band is.

Stopped here for lunch and had a great big burger at a surprising low price for a vacation spot. Beer was cold and service was great. Loved the music too. 5/12/13 - Updated Review*** Took the family here again after the Oceanfront Bar and Grill ignored us for 30 min as we sat at a table. The Bowery was a completely different experience. Our waitress was superior. She greeted as we walked in followed us to the table we wanted outside and food and beer were delivered quickly. Food was once again great with chicken wings and shrimp. My only complaint are the tiny plastic cups they serve the beer in. Would like a bigger glass so I wasnt wasting so much plastic but you can get a pitcher and they are not charging you a gargantuan amount of money. We will be back.

The place is Not cheap first of all as it says in most review site. Cheap price beer? Actually you ate getting small plastic glass of beer which is technically cheap but in reality you are paying the same price or even more when you consider pint. Coming to food, it just OK nothing special, again the cheap so called burgers dont come with fries and you have to pay extra for getting soggy fries. Service is really poor as it can be, the servers are busy with their phones texting someone or busy with some single client talking most of the time which cannot be that long food order. Overall I will never be back and never recommend others. We waited for the ranch to come with our shrimp but the waiter totally forget about that.

Given the awesome reputation that the bowery had, I was very much looking forward to my experience there this evening. I have no intention of sounding like a critic so to keep it short: The atmosphere and food were both great bar food, no complaints there. My issue was with the service. While I was very excited to be in the Bowery, where Alabama once took the stage on a nightly basis, I did not intend to spend 90 minutes there for a burger. On top of that after specifically asking what the "house drinks" referred to on the Happy Hour menu, the waitress told us it was the "Signature Drinks" found in the menu...this was not true. While the food was great along with the atmosphere, I dont think Ill be going back...

This was the worst experience of my life. I was lied to, taken advantage of and stolen from. I ordered a side of 2 chicken fingers. The waitress then brought them out, along with another order of fingers. The waitress told me the kitchen made extra by accident, so i could have them for free at no charge. When my bill came, they charged me full price for the fingers. I told the manager i had only ordered the side, and i did not even ask for the extra!!!! It was not my fault but the manager basically told me oh well i had to pay it. I am beyond pissed and I recommend this place to NO ONE.

Have been to the place time after time and really enjoyed it. One time I hitch hiked from Beauford S.C. I was in the Marines and Alabama was still playing there. They found out that I was a Marine and they invited me to sit at their table and the waitress always brought me a beer when someone bought a round for the band. Also had a picture made with them . If you are a country boy like me from North Carolina you will like this place. Just like the Honkie tonks at home!!!! But you need to go and experience it for yourself. Then you be the JUDGE!!!!!!

Went there while on my vacation to Myrtle Beach. I did not want to go in because of the cover charge. My wife and friends talked me into paying the cover and going inside. I am so glad I did, it was one of my greatest bar experiences of all time. I am not really a fan of Bud Light, but it got the job done. The atmosphere of the the bar was great and the music was awesome. I now plan my vacation to Myrtle Beach so that my hotel is within walking distance to the Bowery. I cant wait to go back again. THAT PLACE IS THE GREATEST BAR EVER!!!!!

First experience was great, one of the best burgers and cheesesteaks ive had in a while, compliments to the chef. Server was excellent and on point. Sad to say our second visit was not so great. I informed the bartender that we would sit outside and he assured me there would be someone out shortly. We waited 20 minutes and noone came. As we walked out because we got tired of waiting, bartender looked happy to see me leave... weird. Not sure what the deal was the second time around, but something didnt feel right about it.
