At first I was a bit confused, when I heard the word Museum in the name of this attraction. I thought it was just that... a museum. It turns out this was a house that that Carin family lived in...did I say house I should say Mid evil Castle! I was on the only tour of the day. That day it was at 2.30, but call for hours as I dont know how they run in the summer. I was one of three. The docent was wonderful and very knowledgeable. She took us all over and made sure to explain and let us look at each room. I though it was so good I became a member just so i could go again! the tour lasted from 2:30 to 4:00. I hope you all get a chance to go and enjoy, i sure enjoyed my time there.

A unexpected treasure!!! We visited last week and was pleasantly surprised with the beautiful mansion now converted into a museum. It has beautiful stain glass windows that has been built on site and are replica of stain glass windows from European Churches. The guide was pleasant and knowledgeable. The variety of artifacts and attention to details are impeccable. It also houses the pieces collected by the family from Egypt , Greece and other parts of the world. Definitely worth the time in the beautiful surrounding !!! Will be definitely going back during their Fall festival for various activities and special tours.

I cant image how some one could call this place "creepy." Perhaps creepy means beautiful? It is historical - and like Hearst Castle or the Biltmore, or other stately homes built in that era, nobody would build a place like this today. But a person would need to think anachronistically to not appreciate this museum today. The people are warm and friendly. The art history is remarkable and spans several genres - from Egyptian, to medieval French, to 20th century. The setting alone is worth the trip. There are few places outside of Europe where you could be IN a castle and be able to SEE a cathedral.

Even if you never go inside, its worth seeing. This place is absolutely breathtaking. From start to finish youre given a really thorough tour that never feels rushed or boring. Theyre small, personal groups and have I mentioned how gorgeous the place is?! It is. But let me tell you something, when youre at the tip top of that place looking at the landscapes in front of you, youll just be at a loss for words. We sadly had to move out of PA before we could experience Christmas at Glencairn, we were really looking forward to that! Go, spend the day, youll love it,

Ill agree: its exquisitely designed and kept, opulent and full of fantastic treasures room after room from ancient and modern cultures of many nations, such as full stone tomb entryways, statuary, stained glass, carvings, paintings, jewelry, and so on, though there is something imposing or sometimes grotesque about the place. Perhaps because it was a private industrialist residence, though the things may now be publicly seen? Perhaps the particular symbols chosen in the architecture and ornamentation? An odd combination of ostentation and reserve?

Glencairn is a great place to go and be exposed to artifacts from across the world and across centuries. They have seasonal programs and festival days. I recommend becoming a member to fully benefit from all of the offerings at Glencairn. One of the best places to go north of Philadelphia for educational fun.

This museum is huge and so beautiful, both inside and outside. The design of each floor is unique. There is so much history in this place. Each room is a separate gallery, though a lot of them are not open normally. The view from the top is so amazing! Definitely worth the trip!

The experience here is very unique. The museum actually used to be a house but has now been converted into a museum. Full of very cool artifacts. Only downside is that the tour is very quick and hard to explore around this huge building.

Fantastic place to visit. Would be nice to have it mapped inside by google to include the infrastructure (kitchen, garage and house staff areas) Inside view could enhance the physical visit.

This castle nearly 100 years old was the residence of the Pitcarin family until the 1970s. Limited open hours. Beautiful grounds.
