Penn Ryn is a disgrace. First our wedding coordinator Katrina was no where to be found until 5 minutes before the ceremony only to come tell us it was time to start! Then during the ceremony the bridal suite was robbed. Someone went in a took small amounts of money from each purse left in the room. It was realized after the ceremony but at the point Katrina had left so we had to deal with the maitre d Kate. She couldnt have been more unprofessional. She immediately reacted defensively and treated us as if it were our fault. Though we were completely sick and violated at that point we put on happy faces and continued the night. We sat for dinner, had our salads and then waited for over 45 minuted for them to serve the diner, which was not good. The prime rib was poor quality meat, the sauce on the raviolis tasted like cheap canned spaghetti sauce but I can say the potatoes were excellent ( the only bright part ). Most of the waitstaff was friendly and helpful during dinner. At the end of the night the staff tried to help pack up but carelessly tossed frames and broke them and were shoving things carelessly in boxes obviously just eager to get out. And to end everything it would turn out that cards were missing from the card box. When confronted about the whole situation the maitre d Kate reacted terribly unprofessional, loud and profane. I was horrified that they would treat people like this. After we searched for info on penn ryn and found on wedding wire a review from last year that also had cards stolen which proves this is obviously an ongoing problem that has not been addressed despite cameras in every corner of every room that are supposedly angled to not be able to see anything??(according to Kate) thats some amazing security and customer service. So please have your wedding there if you enjoy being robbed, treated poorly and crave mediocre food.

The Pen Ryn Estate considers the post noting our Culinary Services to be a fraudulent hoax. Considering such serious comments, no host or guest has contacted our office or any employee regarding these purported occurrences. Our grounds and ballrooms are kept to a meticulous level, surpassing all routine state health inspections reports. Therefore, Pen Ryn Estate appreciates any and all feedback from those who have held events with us, but we find any allegations noting true dishonest to be revolting. ****************** In response to remarks about our food and bridal suites, the Pen Ryn Estate hosts over 200 Weddings and 180 Non-Wedding Events per year. In our nearly 25 years in the event planning and catering industry, we have not deviated from our packages nor have we for any event. We stay consistent with our packages and strive to provide the up-most in food quality. Such can be noted by our glowing reviews on various platforms by hosts and guests. Additionally, as noted in our all our appointments- from the first initial appointments to the last final detail meeting, hosts are aware of our venue’s amenities- including the location and size the bridal suites. Although the Pen Ryn Estate consists of two event venues, both are completely private and independent to one another. The venues do not share: staffing, kitchens, parking lots, ballrooms, and especially bridal suites. Each venue consists of its own bridal suite, equipped to provide a relaxing environment for the entire bridal party. Therefore, hosts are aware of the bridal suite location and size from day one. Therefore, we stand by our two decade long reputation and positive responses regarding our food and services from countless hosts and guests. We ask that any host contact us directly to discuss any concerns. We greatly appreciate any and all feedback from events.

We had our wedding there on August 21, 2016 and the place was beautiful. Unfortunately it rained right before the ceremony, so they set up inside the ballroom. It was still beautiful. But......when the dinner was served to us and our guests, the filet mignon was the thinnest piece of meat Ive ever seen and every single steak was rare and solid pink. Half of our guests couldnt even eat it. We were told by Megan that the guest that ordered steak (wich was 80% of our guests) would be asked how they want their steak cooked. That didnt happen at all. There was brown grave on the steak. When we went for our tasting event to try the food before we picked our menu, the steak was cooked medium and was the nice thick cut of meat that you would expect for the amount of money you will be paying for it per plate. The chicken was ok. The Mahi Mahi was over cooked and tasted like cardboard. I was bragging about the food after the tasting event. But when it was served at the reception I found myself apologizing to more than half of our guests. VERY VERY VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE FOOD. Plus there is a bridal sweet for the bride and brides maids to get ready, but no area for the groom and Grooms men to get dressed and ready. Megan actually suggested that me and my Grooms men get dressed in the coat room. So all of the men had to arrive fully dressed in black tuxedos on a 90 degree day. The bartenders, and servers were very nice. So, if you want a beautiful venue and dont mind wasting your heart earned money on TERRIBLE food, Pen Ryn is the place for you. Im so embarrassed by the food. It sickens me to know how much money I paid for it and McDonalds would have been a better choice.

You might as well go to a Marriott..... We had set up an appointment with the someone who worked for the wedding coordinating company for 1pm on a Saturday afternoon. We got to the venue at about ten of after eating lunch. The site looked ok, but the older building needed quite a bit of attention to make it a suitable wedding site. Our group sat and waited for 1pm to roll around. It came and went. At ten after I went looking for the person who was supposed to take us on a tour. I found a young girl who said she would go find out what is going on. She came back to say that the person we were supposed to meet had left, and was more than an hour away. We checked our emails between her and us, and she had even confirmed, "Yes, that sounds good. I will see you guys at 1pm." She had apparently blown us off and the person who gave us a tour grouped us up with another couple, which made for a very impersonal feel from the word go. Now on to the venue itself. It was ok. It seemed that everything was almost thrown together to complete the place a quickly as possible. It was renovated from basically rubble, which we were impressed with. But in the way of a wedding venue, it did not wow. There was no character, there was a little history, and the people who worked there did not seem to be there for anything more than the paycheck. It may just be us, but itd be nice to work with people that are also there because they enjoy it, and not because they have to be there. Overall, a run-of-the-mill old-style wedding venue, with staff that were not very exciting and a setting that needed a lot of work to make it suitable.

We booked our wedding with a coordinator who ended up leaving for a different job about 4 months before the wedding was to take place. She was replaced with Brianne who was completely unorganized and rude from the moment I spoke with her on the phone. She would blast out an email and completely forget that we spoke on the phone about the same topic the day before. At no time did I feel like she was there to take care of us and make sure we had a great wedding experience. Unfortunately, our wedding was called off and Brianne was the one who handled the cancellation. About 3 weeks after the cancellation was processed, I received another email from her asking me to confirm my tasting coming up in a few weeks. Not only did this further prove her disorganization, but it really made me question the level of customer service and downright compassion that the venue and its associates have for their clients. I will never recommend this venue to anyone.
